GHOSTBUSTERS FANS GUIDELINES
Please respect other members and the content of their posts. This may be a virtual community, but the people here are real and have real questions, thoughts and comments.
You are solely responsible for the content of your posts.
Don't attack or be abusive towards others when their views are different from your own. Don't ridicule someone for the way they spell, punctuate, or phrase things. Debate and discuss the topic, but if it gets personal it gets deleted. If certain people stand out as habitually abusing others, they will be banned.
Don't start off topic threads or take threads off topic with nonsense posts or "chatting." We provide the use of Private Messages and a Chatroom, please use them. Hijacking of threads and turning them into chat threads is not only rude, it's disruptive and can result in a ban.
Don't use sexually explicit language or obscenities. In general using swear words found in Ghostbusters is okay, but please be respectful of those around you. Swearing or making personal remarks does not help get your point across any better.
If someone does post obscenities, or attacks someone, don't respond. Use the "Report This Post" Icon which is the red & white triangle located in the lower left-hand corner of every post. The boards are checked often during the day, and offensive posts won't be up long. If you respond in kind, then you are also in violation of the Community Guidelines.
Please also respect our copyrights and message board rules. Discussions of piracy, whether requesting pirated material, posting links to it, or engaging in discussions on how to get such material, are prohibited. Unauthorized downloads and merchandise constitute piracy, and links to them will be removed.
Posting of merchandise and sales on eBay that are not your own item is against the rules. You may only post the link to a live auction if the item is: Highly Questionable or something expensive and cool (like a screen-used prop).
AVATAR SIZE GUIDELINES
You may post one graphic/picture no larger then 125 x 125 pixels and 10kb in filesize.
If you're uncertain about the size of your avatar, do this to see how many pixels it is - right click on your picture. In the window that pops up you'll see "properties" near the bottom. Click on "properties" and there you will see size and dimensions. Size tells you how many bytes the files is. Dimensions will tell you how many pixels.
SIGNATURE SIZE GUIDELINES
You may use one graphic/picture no larger then 500 x 100 pixels and 50kb in filesize. You may also have up to two lines of normal size text. If there are a series of smaller pictures you like, please combine them into one graphic that complies with the 500 x 100 pixels request. If you prefer only text in your signature, please use no more than eight lines of normal size text, or 4 lines of larger sized fonts.

PRIVATE MESSAGES
The Private Message system, like many other features present in the forum is a priviledge, and should not be abused. Attacks and harrasment via the Private Message system will not be tolerated. The Private Message system is subject to the same rules of conduct and content as the main forum. Inappropriate sexual, religious or pictorial content can be forwarded to a member of the Moderation Staff and can be used toward the justification for banning a member from Ghostbusters Fans.
MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
Creation of multiple accounts or screen names on Ghostbusters Fans is not allowed. If you are found having more than one account we will take an appropriate action against you as seen fit on a case by case basis. This is not limited to but includes: removing one of the accounts from Ghostbusters Fans or banning (removal) of all accounts from Ghostbusters Fans. If a banned user is caught with an additional account or attempts to circumvent a ban, they will be banned permanently (even if the user was on a temporary ban). The process for discovering a user having multiple accounts includes IP Address Matching, Email Matching, and other personal data obtained via third party services. No indisputible evidence of ownership of an additional account is required in order for action to be taken.
Forgetting a password, or forgetting that you even have an account might not be an excuse depending on a case by case basis. If you create a new account because you no longer like your screen name or want to change it is also not an excuse. Please choose your username carefully. Administrators of the site will change screen names if asked politely. Lost passwords can be recovered here.
PROPS
Props must be some kind of tangeble object that you have created that resembes a piece of Equipment found (or that could be found) in the Ghostbusters Universe. Items such as models or toys are not considered to be props (or Equipment); This includes but is not limited to: Real Ghostbusters Toys, Minimates, Ecto-1 Models & Characters created. The "Other" section of the Fan Props area does not give you an area to post non-Ghostbusters Props. This section is for Ghostbusters Props that do not fall under one of the other categories. Users who place items in wrong categories or post non-Ghostbusters or non-prop items in the Props section will be warned and items will be removed. If this behavior continues it could result in either a ban or removal of Prop posting priveledges.
VIDEOS
Videos posted on Ghostbusters Fans are hosted by YouTube. All videos that are posted on the site from Fan members must be Ghostbusters related and fit into one of the given categories. Videos that are not appropriate or do not follow Ghostbusters Fans Guidelines will be removed and the user who submitted them or created them will be warned. We are not responsible for any videos that are submitted to Ghostbusters Fans via YouTube. Videos that are removed from YouTube are also removed from the website.
SUPPORTING MEMBERSHIP
A Supporting Membership is available by donating a specified amount to Ghostbusters Fans. This donation is completely voluntary and gives no special treatment from the staff. The donations are used to keep the site's server running and paid for and also goes towards upkeep/updates of the website, purchasing money for new items, and special contest items. A Supporting Member gets a few additional benefits that are not given to regular users such as: The ability to post attachments, a special red distinction on the forums, a special rank (or title), and a larger Private Message capacity.
CHATROOM
Ghostbusters Fans features a real time chat service. The standard posting guidelines are enforced strictly in the chatroom, and we urge you to remember that the chatroom is a quick way to chat, but it is also a quick way to break the rules. There are special chatroom staff in place to make sure the chatroom is kept in order. Do not hinder them from doing their jobs to keep the chat orderly. Please remember, we cannot moderate the chatroom at all times during the day so please know that we are ultimately not responsible for what is posted in the chatroom. We have logs and have the ability to go back and look at what was being said in the room so please remember that even if you break a rule and are not warned for it right away, you might be at a later time.
There is no "parking" in the Ghostbusters Fans chatroom. If you sit idle for 15 minutes without engaging in discussion you will be removed from the chatroom automatically. This is to ensure that there is plenty of room for others who would like to spend time talking about something.
If a user breaks a rule they are kicked from the chatroom. This is only a kick and often will expire within a few minutes before a user can chat again. This is not a ban from the website. However, if you break a rule severely enough you can get banned from the site (see the section on banning). Sometimes a user will get kicked for reasons out of their control. An example would be if their computer dropped their internet connection and they entered and exited the chatroom quickly within a few seconds.
Ghostbusters Fans reserves the right to limit or revoke access to the chatroom at any time.
WARNINGS AND BANNING
The following explains the warning system on the boards. It's a good way for you to track how many warnings you've received and for the Admins to track how many warnings have been issued.
When a rule is broken a warning will be sent to you via the warning system. If you habitually cause problems and break rules you will be banned from the site. This can range from a day to a week, a month or permanetly.
If anyone tries to circumvent a temporary ban by posting under another user name, they will be banned permanently.
We reserve the right to ban people immediately as we deem appropriate. Please be aware that posters who deliberately and viciously break the rules may be permanently banned with no warning. Ruling on whether a permanent ban is necessary is ultimately left up to the discretion of the board moderators and administrators. Discussion of banned users, or reasons why they were banned is not of any business to an uninvolved party. If another user trys to cause issues over a banned member they will get a warning and in some cases banned themselves.
Permanently banned members who create new names will be removed from the site without additional warning when they are discovered.
Discussion of hatred or dissent towards Ghostbusters Fans, or Ghostbusters Fans' staff will not be tolerated and will result in a warning and often banning from the site. Remember, we provide Ghostbusters Fans as a nice and friendly atmosphere to join in discussion and have some fun. If you hate Ghostbusters Fans and how it is being run, we do not have to allow you to be on it.
We are open to suggestions and ideas on how to improve the site.
