Hello everyone! My names Jonny and like many of you, my goal is to build my very own Ecto-1. My original plans was to find a 59 Caddy, but then I absolutely fell in love with the HHR. Busted my ass for a year or so and grabbed myself a brand new 2008 in Summit White. I've looked at what a lot of people have done with their Ecto's and I'm going to go the route of not making it 100% accurate to the real deal but doing it very close to with a new age touch. with the blue prints I've found on the site, after X-Mas I'll start working on my roof rack! any helpful hints will be more than welcome! I would say that looks pretty good, although I absolutely HATE the sickly-green side tank. Yeah, it's on the restored car, but it's hideous.

looks good, but I agree with some streamlining...
the half dome, maybe make it into a full dome... sorta like a DOPPLER system. also, not sure what it's called, but the tall piece of equipment in the rear next to the half dome, lower that a bit.

One thing I noticed with your photoshop plans is that the lightbar seems to sit directly over the sunroof. Was this planned? If so, I'd suggest not doing it. Maybe smaller bar lights in front of it and the rack behind it, but I wouldn't personally put it over the sunroof.

Just signed up to the board, and I have to say that this looks really sweet. However, I have to agree that the green tank looks weird. Make it grey or black, with the yellow and black warning stripe down the side.
Other than that, it's looking good! Can't wait for the finished result.

FunkPunkTwang, Our group is working on converting my 2006 HHR as well for our group ECTO. The only difference would be... stand by for the blasphemy... it is BLACK! Mine will be known as ECTO-X. Everything going on it is temporary and is designed to be removable for normal car use (and use on another car if necessary). We're currently in the design phase, but your project, photo posts and plan sketches have helped me tons already and I wanted to say 'Thanks'! Be on the lookout for the 'bizarro' version of your project soon!
