Hi All,
Im new to this sort of thing, but i have logged in on behalf of my teenage daugher, she is a huge fan of GB, and recently went to MCM Comic con at Birmingham. It was there that we saw several guys wearing Proton packs, and my daughtwer said she would love one. I understand some on here dont like talking about buying ready made packs, but to be honest i would build one if i was any good at DIY but im not. So i would really appreciate some expert fan advice on where and who to go to buy one. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gribster.

There is a post in this forum called "Looking to Buy/Own/Build a Proton Pack?" I would suggest taking a good while to read through a lot of the information there first and go from there. You can build a pack from items as simple as cardboard or as complex as fiberglass and aluminum. Personal preference and price are usually the determining factor.
My first pack was built out of household materials and foamboard like is used with school projects that I got from a craft store. Find "Stefan's Plans" on the site here and you can cut and shape the parts to scale similar to the movie packs and have a pretty decent pack. Something like that would be my suggestion for a first time parent/teenager build.

Yeah you can build a pretty cool pack with a lot of inexpensive stuff around the house and hardware store, my first pack was a mix of Norm's and Stefan's plans.
Now if you have some money to spend there are quite a few guys in the For Sale forum selling some really amazing and accurate parts, you can buy just about everything you need and put a pack together in less than a week. Sometimes you may have to dig around for some parts or wait and watch the forum to get what you need but almost everything needed is being made by somebody.
If you really don't want to build one then it may take a while to find a fully built quality pack. Most of the guys on here are pretty hard core Ghostbusters fans so usually they are only making packs for themselves or close friends but every once and a while somebody may need to clear out some space or make some cash to build an even better one.
If you look at anything on E-bay be really careful and do some research on what they are selling and always double check the Blacklisted Sellers list in the For Sale forum, there are some people on E-bay that will sell you crap without blinking an eye.
Hope that helps and like Michael Scott said, check out the "Looking to Buy/Own/Build a Proton Pack?" thread and some of the other build forums, and check out the reference section photos to get familiar with how a pack should look.

Before you spend ANY money, do your research. It will most likely save you some cash, and loads of trouble.

It's good to see you're wanting to get involved with Ghostbusters costuming, and it's also great to see another Brit getting involved with Ghostbusters costuming. Currently, the options for buying a fully finished Proton Pack are extremely limited... most people try aim their sales closer to Halloween when there is greater interest in them. As things stand there are currently only two people I know of selling their old Proton Packs in the UK (yours truely, who may already be talking to a buyer) and one other member who isn't 100% committed to selling it yet. Under these circumstances I feel your greater chance of success lies in purchasing a Proton Pack shell and all the small component parts. Currently there are three people who are UK-based and who post on this forum that produce and sell Proton Pack shells: nick-a-tronQuagmireloly2kn2Not having the neccesary skill shouldn't prove to be a barrier, as there is a huge community of people who can help you with getting a Proton Pack assembled.

I highly suggest looking at the Blacklisted sellers list to see prime examples of who to avoid when purchasing Ghostbusters props, or any props for that matter.
