Hi everyone, I thought I'd share some photos of the various parts that I have collected in preparation for my GB1 Proton Pack build, which will happen in March 2016, when Benarie Smith of Benofkent Props will begin my project here in the UK. The bulk of the parts have come from the GBFans shop, with the aluminium parts being supplied by Crix (Heavy Props), Eric Gunther (ejgunth87) and Freeky Geeky, and resistors sourced from electronics suppliers in the US; the toughest part has been the Raytheon Crank Knob in matte grey, so I have settled with a black one from GBFans which I will have sprayed grey instead. I didn't even bother with original Legris elbows as again these are almost impossible to find; the GBFans SMC ones are the subsitute. I could get these sprayed the darker grey colour but I don't mind the differences. I am not aiming for a specific character pack build, nor for every part to be exact from the 1984 film; it will be a 2015-2016 production of the 1984 patented design, using real, but in many cases, contemporary parts :)

The shell will be composed of Polyeutherane rather than fibre glass: although the latter is screen accurate, the former is a less brittle material and equally as strong. Benarie's shell:

Benarie will also be doing all the electronics and sound, via 2 powerful amps; should be loud enough! I also have a super bright vent LED light kit from ovwthrillseekr to add on as well, for the Thrower :)

Fitted with a powerful FLI speaker hooked up to a Kinter 500W Amp...

Here are some pics of various parts:

Dale PH-25 resistor...thanks to a fellow Ghosthead, this will be swapped out for a 'no disc' version in the next 2 weeks

Dale RH-25 & RH-50 resistors; I found both versions, the ones with logos on top, and the ones without; I'll be using the latter variety:

Black Crank Knob:

All relevant screws, bagged up; some will probably end up surplus to requirements; I still need 2x 10-30, 1 1/2 inch length flat head fillister screw for one of the Clippards, in anodised black. Not easy to find at the moment.

Lots of other parts, also from GBFans (love the sealed bags with the GB logo; very cute):

Resin grips, also by Krix (purchased from GBFans shop):

Side Discs, GBFans type and Freeky Geeky type; still trying to decide on which ones to use...

Loads of other parts; Nycoil tubing, Clippard hose barbs/brass elbows & straights, aluminium heat sink, s-hook for thrower, arcolectric lights, Ion Arm end cap, GB1 metal bellows, PPD with split loam, aluminium gun tip, arcrylic tube and pop mech...again, from GBFans, all packed and ready to go:

I've got the GBFans vinyl label set for the pack, and the dry rub transfer set for the thrower; I'm waiting on my aluminium fuse diagram, A.C Ball co. and Motor Synchronous plates from JoeLuna33, really hope these turn up soon, but I have the metallic vinyl ones as backup.

Needless to say it been a very expensive exercise thus far; hopefully it will be worth it. Thanks go to everyone here at GBFans for making this dream possible. More to come :)

Thanks Kingpin :) Yes I probably will be - careful spraying in the correct shade of matte grey should produce a good result. EHC knobs and other electronic component suppliers in the US can source the original grey ones, but they are ridiculously expensive!

Oh and subscribed.
Thank you! Awesome. Good luck with your build - will you be showing your progress in a thread?

Cool, no worries...yeah it takes time to put photos up etc...I nearly didn't bother as there are so many other build threads, and I thought, what's so new about mine, but then I decided just to do it for the record anyway

Thank you ESpengler84, that is very encouraging to hear, it's my first ever build so I'm doing my best to make it a good one! Look forward to posting pics once the build gets started :)

Skully wrote:Can ask who sold you that amazing pre bagged and labeled fastener set ..i would love to by one ..and your parts are awesome ..gotta have the real things myself
Hi Skully, thank you! I've taken a lot of time to get this together. I bought the fasteners from a supply company here in the UK, 'modelfixings.co.uk' and I then re-organised them into the correct quantity for each part, and added my own additional labels to identify them...the information I used to do this is from this site, and on this thread:

http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtop ... 31&t=28583

Just scroll down (quite a lot down) and you will come across a list of the screws and sizes for each part. Take note, however, that the diameter for certain parts may vary depending on the specs used; the top knob for example, is listed as requiring a 4-40 cap head but the GBFans one (which I have) is actually milled for a 6-32, so had to change it out for one of those. Hope this helps!

Chris (CPU64) also signs his work - a very nice touch

Lol. That's so nice to hear...I couldn't believe how well made this cable is, and it's so accurate too! It's giving me that awesome '1984' vibe...feel like that movie is coming to life right in my living room! Thanks again for all your help with this project :)

So another quick update, basically the PH-25 resistors I had were the ones with the discs in the fins, and to be honest it was a detail that I originally wasn't too fussed over...but then I came across twmedford23's thread which had the earlier 'no disc' vesions for sale, so I took the opportunity to grab one and add that extra level of authenticity to the pack. Thanks again to Thomas (twmedford23) for getting this seemingly rarer version of the PH-25 over to me in the UK, and also for just charging me for the postage - very kind and much appreciated :)

More parts arrived today...these are small bits but nonetheless, very important; aluminium s-hook disc for the gun track, small knob, brass spacers and a steel lever, all for the Proton Gun, and supplied by Freeky Geeky. Unfortunately my order for the aluminium labels from JoeLuna33 (placed way back in July) never showed up, including a replacement set which was sent, but I was given a refund. Very frustrating though, because those labels look the real deal. If anyone has any going spare, I would love to hear from you! Otherwise the metallic vinyl ones will be the substitute, these are very good anyway.

Another set of parts packed and labelled, ready to send out to Benofkent Props next year!

When/how did you order these parts? I've been going on freaky geeky and they say out of stock.

I've been looking for brass spacers and a small knob for months.

Thanks :) Me too - the build should start in April...waiting on the aluminium thrower from Freeky Geeky at the moment, should be good to go after that!

Hi csullivan1980, I ordered these about 4 months ago, and I PM'd him
directly through GBFans asking for these parts, and he had them made up to order :) There was a bit of waiting involved, but hopefully if you ask he should be able to accomodate you. Good luck with your build!

Nice mate. Can't go wrong with a Freeky Geeky thrower
#4850676
Cheers mate :) That's what I've been told! Good to hear that again though. This is the last critical component for the pack, apart from the battery lol
#4850677
Hahaha the battery is rather important. You sourcing it from the UK? I got mine from spycameracctv.com after Rays Occult recommended them. Not had any issues
