Well, we will have our secretary send you all the proper paper work to be filled out in triplicate...

also, there is a hefty out of state franchise start up fee that will have to be deposited into our accounts before said paper work is sent out.

Still wanna join now?

I like the idea of one Florida group with different divisions. I've found some fans around my area here in So. FL's east coast but I haven't heard of anything organized here. I think we could get a group together down here, and JayM's already designed a patch that's very cool. Wouldn't mind becoming a part of a larger group though. I'm just not fond of the idea that Florida Ghostbusters would be a group for fans in only one particular area of Florida, however I do think it would be an awesome idea for a central lead organization of all Florida divisions/groups or whatever you wanna call em. I think it would be nice to have a place to go and see where you can find more GB fans around the whole state.

Actually I kinda like that idea..for just about all states. a mian state GB Parent, and then locality affiliations.

Wonder if I can get the NC guys to agree with this idea?

Example: We'd be Ghostbusters NC locality of Waynesville (Or WNC, since its all small cities out here.)

Something like this:

I love the idea of all the Florida Groups unifying under one banner, but honestly it will never happen. Their is no motivation to do so, other than a little bit of bitching every time a new Florida franchise is announced, things work just fine how they are. People like their individual groups, they are free to dislike other groups or members of other groups and their are no major problems that can't be ignored... other than their just being too many groups, and everyone seems to be willing to ignore that for the most part.

I wouldn't mind the orange being used for the southeast coast, broward, palm beach etc or something as a part of a larger whole for the state.

Also, I wouldn't mind trading an orange patch for a gator one if they get made. Just throwing that out there :)

Since I'm pretty new to the boards could somebody tell me what's the deal with Floridians arguing with each other about new groups? In my opinion it's just cool to have several different groups around the state that everybody would have a local group to join and be active with. Like I said I don't know where all the hostility comes from or why, I mean we're all fans of GB, why can't we have our own local groups? I don't see any point in people belonging to a group that's a few hour drive away from where you live, shouldn't groups be local to where you live? JayM, do you know if there's any group/franchise whatever in our area to join or should we start or own?

I haven't heard of any in our area. They are mostly in Tampa, Central or North FL I think. So we should probably have our own. I know there are never group events in our area, either.

That's what I thought JayM, maybe we can start something then.

Just a further clarification to my last post since I can't edit it anymore. What I meant by having local groups was more along the lines of I don't want to be forced to join a group that's very far away from me if I don't want to just because I wouldn't be allowed to start a new group. Not saying that I shouldn't be allowed to join a GB group far away from me but if there's not a group where I live I sure want to have the right to start a local one. Personally I wouldn't want to join a group far away since I'd be unable to attend any of their events etc. because of the distance.

Yeah I hear you. Someone from Tampa Bay GBs or something wanted me to join like a year and a half ago. I'm 4-5 hours from Tampa.

I'm in Florida, and I just finished my pack. I've never joined a franchise, but I'd certainly be interested in doing some charity work.
Any advice/information on how I might go about joining one of the franchises?

Seems to be a lot of drama between them, so it's a bit difficult to navagate, as an outsider.

Most groups are VERY outgoing, and accepting. Of course, if you act like an abusive jerk to them, they won't want you around.

We just travelled down to Georgia to do an event with the Atlanta guys this past month. We've heard comments that they were snooty, and critical, so we had never gone down to hang with them.

Our reception when we got down there? Like long lost family. Very welcoming, and accomodating.

With the exception of a few bad attitude people, almost everyone we've met has been great, and we count many people as freinds now. Just avoid the troublemakers, and be considerate of your fellow fans, and you'll get along great with everyone.

florida has had problems in the past, sure, but there all leveled out now.

In all honesty, try a group close to where you live, but still, come out to any events you can. Come out to Mega con in Orlando this year, there will be a huge meetup there, we'd love to have you. and yes PC you have to come too, even if I have to drag you, and no snarky comments, or I swear I'll turn this car around ; p lol

I'm hoping to be back in Florida for MegaCon. I'll be up in PA the week before getting married. I really want to hit it up to meet the guys from Ghost Hunters, and all of you of course. :)

Hey guys I'm kinda new around her but being a South Floridian I think it'd be pretty cool to actually have a chapter down here. I'm buddies with Ryan at Orlando GB's but I might be more active if I had a chapter I could meet with and participate in.

I'd also come in handy as a cartoonist and graphic artist.
Every chapter needs a cool logo to match.

Actually in a bit of shameless self promotion my GB vs Deadman piece was recently featured on Comic book Resources. [url]
