Hey everyone! Don't know if this has been discovered before but I was recently on a search for some spooky sound effects when I came upon a CD called mystery and terror sounds. Upon listening to track previews on Amazon I was amazed to find that the track entitled "Mad ape" was in fact a fairly clear recording of the slimer sound effects from the first Ghostbusters movie. I was just curious if anyone knows of this and if there are any more recordings of this nature. HERE is the link.

Considering how often SFX like these are remixed or blended for movies (see: anything Ben Burtt has ever done), it's pretty amazing how little this was modified for the movie. Nice catch!

Does anyone know the origin of proton pack startup sound? Just wondering because I've heard that sound used in an anime series and I think I've heard it elsewhere too.
Anyways, nice find. It's always strange to find out that a sound you've always distinguished from a certain movie of your childhood, is actually a stock sound.

I wonder if the sound clip was created for GB and later sold as a stock sound or if it was already a stock sound to begin with. my guess is that reitman did the sounds for when slimer was in the hallway. it's a bit different than the grunts and growls.

After watching the movie again that does seem to be the case. I wonder if any of the Reitman sounds still exist, or even stay puft sounds. I always thought he had an interesting sound.

That's pretty awesome. AJ's reaction to the first post pretty well sums it up for me. Nice find! Alex
