im sorry, i usually work on this as im looking for information for proton pack stuff im working on and i've been so busy burning daylight outside while the weather has been relatively warm and i havent had anything to check on for research.

the wiki has already proved invaluable when im out shopping for hardware and parts because i dont need to dig through the forums for that information (because im putting what i can find that's new updated info from the forums THERE, and linking to thread discussions as i find it when i am updating it.) i have some stuff i need to 3d model in the very near future, so i'll be updating the wiki for sure then because i'll be frustrated with the items im going to be CAD'ing.

i'll take a look at the section i've been working on and take notes of what i need to add tomorrow during breaks from working outside. im not incredibly concerned with the cartoon stuff because there are people working on it already (and that hasnt interested me in decades, what does is the equipment section because i live for ghostbuster prop information).

also, whoever is negative voting me every time i reply in this thread, thanks! maybe you should try contributing to the site more instead of downvoting someone that's contributing their time and effort to a section you havent bothered to touch! i hope someone is noticing you abusing the site's karma feature and swift action is taken!

I just nearly doubled the Wiki AGAIN.

I went ahead and created a page for everyone that worked on Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. I filled in information about each and every person, including what film they worked on.. what they did.. and if they worked for the effects companies.

http://www.gbfans.com/wiki/Ghostbusters:_Crew
http://www.gbfans.com/wiki/Ghostbusters_II:_Crew

I think it amounted to about 500 new pages.

Also Boss and ILM pages:

http://www.gbfans.com/wiki/Boss_Film_Studios
http://www.gbfans.com/wiki/Industrial_Light_and_Magic

Note that for each and every one of these people.. there is a pleathora of information about them out there. One thing people could do is go down the list and google each of these people and find out more interesting information about them. (Use the CITE tool!)

There are also lots of people that we know what they did, which still needs to be filled in. (People like Robin Shelby, Tom Morga, Ivan Reitman.. etc.)

since alot of this is copy and pasting from the old wiki; i was wondering if there was a way to credit the person that originally put that information in, on top of what information i can add from searching the forums?

The best way to do that is to put it in the description bar when updating a page.

Its the text box below where you are typing the content in. It will show the information when viewing the history page, the same way the old wiki does it.

There is a new syntax for embedding reference photos into the wiki. To put in a reference photo just use this code:

{{Reference|1|2|}}

The first number is the album number.. which varies from 1 to 40.
The second number is the photo number... which depends on how many photos are in the album.

Examples.

This image: http://www.gbfans.com/images/equipment/ ... e/17/6.jpg

Would use this code: {{Reference|17|6}}

This image: http://www.gbfans.com/images/equipment/ ... /39/37.jpg

Would use this code: {{Reference|39|37}}

Now those would put the full sized image into the view. You can (and should) add the "thumb" modifier into the mix. So the last example would become this:

{{Reference|39|37|thumb}}

And if you want to caption the photo (still buggy) you can add another line like this:

|caption=Caption Text Here

So here is a final example incorporating everything:

{{Reference|39|37|thumb|caption=Hello this is a photo}}

I will be working on that code a bit more to improve the look. However.. the syntax should not change.

I have begun the process of moving the Wiki over to match the layout of the site.

There is still a lot of work to do to make it perfect, and it will take several more hours. Everything should still be functional though.
