I say no to CGI, just try to imagine what GB 1 and GB 2 would've been like if the were CG, if they were, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation right now...or maybe ever!:O

Yep...CG is totally on the same level as it was in 84

Yay for brains

Beowolf looked very realistic.

There were only select times during the movie when the action was unrealistic.. and that made you remember that it was CGI. If they were to legitimately go that route and aim for the upmost realism.. I would really dig it. Plus they could do whatever they wanted.

You figure if the movie is being done in live action.. still a few hundred shots are gonna have or be in CGI anyways.

I can't see Carrell, Colbert, Stewart at all. No one has mentioned Dave Chappelle. Probably wouldn't happen, but dream big, eh?

Also, Seth Rogen and Co. would be fine, but here's the problem - the original team worked because there was but one screwball. If Apatow's crew were to inherit the unlicensed proton accelerators, they would all be that way. I think Michael Cera would be a funny Ghostbuster. Jack Black before the baggage. Hell, Eddie Murphy STILL.

Of course, the audience I'm telling this to probably doesn't even want Bill Murray to be in it, based on some of our previous encounters, so I'm not sure any of my choices are going to make sense to you.

In my humble opinion Dave Chappelle is probably one of the funniest men alive, but I don't think he'd be right for Ghostbusters. Well maybe in the film in some capacity, but I don't see him as a Ghostbuster. I'd like to see Eddie Murphy too, he's so funny but he needs to stop doing awful movies. Does anyone remember the rumors (I think around '99) that Conan O'Brien was going to help write it and co-star in it? Now THAT would be a dream come true.

Sadly.

I liked the time when visual FX didn't include computers. Not that I don't like CGI, only that nowaday, it takes too much place, at least in my opinion.

Dude. GB 1 was always going to be a live-action film. I doubt they could have pulled it off. The physical status of the actors as they are right now pretty much gives us a 50% chance that its going to be CG or live action.

That's going to be part of the comedy I think, them being older. They'll have fun playing on that.

But it is going to be really weird seeing them like that in the new movie... if it does ever happen. I think Ramis will be the hardest one to see like that.

Plus they should have a scene where the switches on the packs gum up and they don't fire properly so they'll have to upgrade the equipment.

Heck no! We've already had one lame 'upgrade excuse', if we're to be given new equipment it has to be a decent reason... not something like XGB's "Oh, but these ghosts are way more powerful".

Well.

There are only so many ways for them to be like.. Oh crap. We are old. This equipment is old.. we need a new team.. etc.

I just hope these writers come up with a hillarious and unique way to do it.

If you ask me.. it would be much better if they just start off with a whole franchise of Ghostbusters who more or less are already like exterminators of members of the Geek Squad.. etc.

And the original GBs can make cameos via web cam or them walking out of the room at the beginning of a scene after talking to one of the new main leads.

I wonder if when they're training some of the new members, the boys will take them somewhere and release the ghost(s?) so they can practice using the packs. Maybe out in a field or an old abandoned building.

I'd assume an open field, like in Central Park, where they won't have trouble catching the ghosts if its their first time. If they're at an advanced level of training, they might be in a building. It makes sense.

I think it would be a cool idea for seth rogen and the rest to be the new ghostbusters and for the original ghostbusters to be mentors.

Check out these fan pictures, look how could they would look!..

I think that is a very good sign that Columbia/Sony asked a gb3 script instead of Danny knocking its door bringing a new script. i hope for the better and in the meantime i'll make my pack for halloween.
my two or three cents from Italy about this "not yet a real" project.

1- We know that the game was decided and bring in production months before we heard the littlest rumor about it. What if they decided to do gb3 3/4 months ago and the greenlighting of comic books/blue ray release/RGB dvd set is a sort of publicity campaign of biblical proportion for gb3, mainly for testing people interests in the GB franchise?

2- Seth Rogen e Co. Here in Italy they are not famous like in USA....maybe every american guy here hate Seth because he is a little over exposed (And you don't want us exposing ourselves!) I think that almost nobody know his name (maybe only few hardcore fans) and Steve Carrell is being famous right now and he is knon as "the guy who starred in Get Smart".
I saw Superbad and Knocked Up (translated in italian as "Very Pregnant"). I liked the second very much, i liked Seth Rogen not as a comedian, but as an actor. An actor able to play both the "peter pan-ish" guy at the beginning of the movie that will evolve in a mature (and beliavable for the way he was portrayed by Seth) family man. I saw a good actor......nothing sentational but i think that if the Office duo and Ramis deserve him a good script he can play it in a good way. And there was that father-son scene with Harold Ramis. I already stated that a fat Egon will not be a major problem...look at that scene like a scene where Egon talks friendly with one of the new recruit (remember, with lines writed by Ramis and partners), it is nice to see and try to imagine that at the end of this dialogue Janine rings the alarm bell: Srh jump to the pole and slide down, Egon try to run, panting.

3- My GB3 wish: i think that a comeback is not the way to go. They have already used it (badly) in GB2. But maybe the thing could work if: the GBs have splited up for personal reason years ago (like Bill and Harold) and only Ray stayed at the firehouse. at the beginning of the movie we see Ray and the already trained new guys (a little flashback explain their hiring and training). toward the end Ray call the old GBs for a help and here it goes like that wonderful fan trailer we saw on you tube.

only my opinions, sorry for messing up with your language! :-)

*HA!! I couldn't agree more with "MinnesotaGhost"...

*Dan saying what he said was most likely to get his foot in the door with the studio to get this thing off the ground [or a last-ditch effort, after all the YEARS of "dead-ends"], or, as GB is his baby - He would like nothing more than to see his co-creation live on, even looooong after he retires, or passes...Even if it means having to hand the reigns over to someone else...And the "Apatow" crew was brought up by the media, after the 'net buzz, which in turn was sparked from our little community here [from a contest no-less]...Wiether or not he's a fan of their work or not, he was goaded into that question, and what do you think he would've said otherwise, if not for the lights and cameras?...

*And Harold's comments have yet to be "officially" confirmed [e-mails can be faked people], and and even then - Again the "new crew" [whomever they might end up being in any case] was touted as a "possibility"...Nothing more...So we may see the old team back in full capacity, we might not...Who knows?!...

*I do realize that they are getting old [and I'm getting really tired of debating this], but again they're not invalid, missing limbs, in a coma, or even dead...So a third could function with just the originals...And again looks are nothing cg touch-ups, make-up, or similar "tools-of-the-trade" can't fix...Even then, most people here and at other gb boards have come to accept that they could function just the way they are - A natural progression in ages from the last film...So what if Harold's fat, Murray's alittle wrinkly, and Dan has a bald spot?...Things they can work around...

*I not unlike a great deal of people here feel that the "Apatow" crew, or any other group of actors of the ilk [Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, ect.] that don't lend themselves to the "GB-Brand" of "semi-serious-dry-unintentional-humor", and instead go for the slapstick and fart jokes, would do the GB franchise/legacy a disservice by being added, if nothing more than the "sake of appealling to newer audiences"...MANY a film [ESPECIALLY remakes] have been outright RUINED for that reason...

*And if you must add a "new recruit" or two - Add someone like the aforementioned Simon Pegg who can effectively pull off the subtle humor, and not someone because they're the "hot actors of the season"...

*Cause mark my word - If this movie does get made by some weird fluke of fate, and it does feature the "hand-downs" from the OGB's to the "Apatow" [probably mostly in-part to all this internet frenzy in the first place], not only will the people like me who were against it be in an uproar, the people who were clamoring for these particular "new editions" will be the same ones coming out of the theater saying "MAN did THAT suck!!"...

*The same thing happened with "Rob Zombie's Halloween"...And even though that was a remake, and not a direct sequel, the same people who were clamoring for it were the same ones pissing on it come post-opening night...

*Cheers.

*I actually entertained the thought of this the other night in deep-thought [yes I do that sometimes]. and while that could be a possibility, I believe SONY has only [finally] seriously given a third installment some thought due to the hoopla about game and the "ripple effect" that's come from it as a result - Be it the extended promise of the new GB/RGB or even EGB [abroad] merchandise, or the game itself...The "market resarch" people need look no further than "Google" and type in Ghostbusters to find how it's EXPLODED over the last almost two years...

Quote:

*That proposal would just lend itself to reducing them to "underdog" roles ["Getting kicked out of college/going into buisness"/"Being out of buiness/Trial/Going back in buisness"] like the previous two installments, thus regulating it to being another sub-par sequel/clone of the first...But having said that - as I said above - "Handing over the reigns" to the "Apatow" or similar group will already be a "ace-in-the-hole" towards a horrible sequel anyways...

*Cheers.

Here is what I thought up. it's not great but it's something. The original ghostbusters have gone their seperate ways but not because they stopped caring. They just had to find jobs in other places. The only one to stay in New York was Winston and he runs the GB HQ. The group in the HQ are the New Ghostbusters (NGB). There only purpose (in the beginning) is to go to parties. They are licensed to wear the packs and have been trained how to use them. This is because the gov't forced the GB to creating a training program for all those who handle them. (i have a reason why they don't use faux equipment but i'll only explain that if asked for it) Supernatural things start happening. Ghosts start appearing. The NGB have to start up as official ghostbusters. since Pete Ray and Egon are unavilible. But since there is hint of something major coming. something new. something never heard of. Winston calls Pete who is living in Cali. wit Dana and Oscar. There he works as the World of the Psychic host again. (the show was picked up by a sub tv company of paramont who did the Ghostbusters movie (staring chevy chase and eddie murphy)) Now Peter has to go to the Amazon rain forest to get Ray and Egon. Ray and Egon have gone to investigate the Tulac Flower which is believed to, when eaten, give people curtain psychic powers. However the location and even existance is considered uncertain. Only Peter knew where they were going. (Yes I have a reason for that as well and if you want to know just ask) so at about 2 3rds into the movie you get the busters back into new york. This allows for the audience to encounter the new crew but also allows the OGBs to have some bustin scream time. Yes I know it's not perfect but it's something.

Yea, when I first saw the previews for TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) in CGI, I was pi$$ed... Id rather have seen guys in rubber suits again. The first 3 movies were good as is. For the record I opted not to see the CGI TMNT.

Yep...CG is totally on the same level as it was in 84

Yay for brains

Yea, when I first saw the previews for TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) in CGI, I was pi$$ed... Id rather have seen guys in rubber suits again. The first 3 movies were good as is. For the record I opted not to see the CGI TMNT.

I read that they're going to reboot TMNT's as a live-action franchise.

So many reboots:
• Superman
• TMNT
• Friday the 13th
• A nightmare on elm street
...and now possibly ghostbusters; here's hoping the original cast reunites for the 3rd, that is of course if the 3rd GB emovie ever gets made.

Ramis said that there is a possibility that the original cast will be back in some mentor capacity.....even Bill Murray. so, this isn't a reboot but a not-yet-in-preproduction sequel.

*Not to get off-topic, but to quote Peter Laird [Co-Creator of the Ninja Turtles]:

Quote:
As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin. We have pretty much decided that the next “TMNT” movie should be what we’ve been calling a “hybrid” — that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters).

I really liked the way Elias Koteas and Judith Hoag brought Casey and April to life in the first live-action movie — they each did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, I think they might be a little too old to play these characters now (even if they wanted to, and I have no idea if they would). However, I think Chris Evans and Sarah Michelle Gellar did wonderful work voicing the Casey and April characters in the recent CGI “TMNT” movie, and I think it would be really cool if we could get them to reprise those roles, but this time “in the flesh.” I think that might be the first time something like that has happened.

*So, as of now, no "reboot", just inklings for a planned "live-action/CGI" sequel...

*Back to your regularly scheduled progamming...

*Cheers.
