I recently had a suit made which a lot of people have asked me about.I thought I would share the specs with you all so that you can do the same if you like. I phoned in and asked Amy Garcia (the nice lady who took care of my order) to email me a list of what was done on my suit. In addition to this stuff you will have to get a series of measurements on your body in order to have the perfect fit that I got. Here is what Amy emailed me Hello Vincent,
Here are the specs for the suit you bought;
Sentinel LS Nomex 5.0 Khaki Fabric, Side entry zippers, Hook and loop leg tabs set to the rear of the leg, No Velcro on the chest, No FOD cover on the left sleeve pocket but keep P/P portion Brass zippers-natural with Brass teeth.
Thank you for posting your suit. I’m glad you are getting a positive review on your suit.
Please contact me directly as I’m always happy to help.
Take care,
PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR NEW WEBSITE!

1900 Weld Blvd Suite 140 El Cajon , CA 92020So just to recap here are the details of the suit.SUIT MODEL - Sentinel LS Nomex 5.0 Khaki Fabric (You may wish to go with a poly/cotton blend instead. It will be cheaper and more accurate) Side entry zippers, Hook and loop leg tabs set to the rear of the leg, (This was an option that I added to make blousing the legs easier, it is not screen accurate.) No FOD cover on the left sleeve but you DO want the P/P Portion. No Velcro on the chest (there would normally be a Velcro nametag backing here) Brass zippers-natural with Brass teeth. Lastly here is the order form that will need to be filled out in order to get a quote. Make sure to specify the added options that you want.

Vince, thanks for posting this. Funny that you did actually, because I have been debating about getting a charcoal uniform from them. And now that I've seen your's, as long as I can figure out which color is closest from the fabric swatches they are sending me, I probably will be getting a poly/cotton blend suit from them.
Thanks!

Now you have the most accurate suit ever. Same people who made the suits for the movie. Lucky you!

Brad, To clarify, yes this is a completely custom tailored suit and it is made of Nomex. Mine was $314 before tax. Remember that I added things to it and again it is completely custom.
By getting one made of poly/cotton you will lower the price significantly.
The price that dark spectre found is probably a standard off the shelf Nomex suit with no modifications. You can look through those on their website. They also have a clearance section with suits for $99 if you are lucky enough to find your size there. That gets updated weekly so check often.
You will have to get your own quote but I would suspect that a poly/cotton custom suit will range from $200-$270
Hope that clears up any questions about price.

Of course Vince replies while I type out my long winded explanation, but screw it, I'm still posting it. . . DarkSpectre wrote: 165 clams, Brad from what I was able to find. Actually, what Vince had made probably cost him over $300 for it. If you look here, you can see the basic price listing for the "Sentinel Uniform." I personally think it would be more accurate and better priced if you go with the "Resolute" fabric, which is a poly/cotton blend. The Sentinel custom fit long sleeve P/C suit starts at $212.00. Add side zippers for $12 plus shipping and its still going to be close to $250 for a suit. But it will be a well made, well fitting, suit made by the same company that made the suits for GB2.

Honestly, as badass as Vince's suit is, I could not bring myself to spend that kind of money on something that I would only wear sporadically. I would rather buy 2 khaki Truspecs and cut one of them up to make the leg pockets. Granted that is totally the way to go if you have the money but that's way too rich for my blood( although I'm extremely jealous, lol). Kudos once again Vince, that truly is a badass uni.

Yeah, and I can understand that. I think a suit like this will more appeal to either: A) people that wear that suits multiple times a year (such as if you are in a "franchise" like Vince and myself) or B) if you are too big to comfortably fit into an off the shelf flight suit. Its a big chunk of change to drop on some fabric but some would deem it worth while.

Agreed, this is definitely not the route to go for the passive fan (not to say that you are one). But as Matt said, if you will be using the suit often and are someone who really values the "accuracy" of your props then I highly recommend getting yourself one.
Personally I was a little too "girthy" and "height disabled" to wear an off the shelf suit. I feel so much better wearing this than my Rotcho.

I totally agree with guys on all points brought up. But still as much as myself and the Columbus Ghostbusters attend events (which 2 or 3 weekends a month) I would be extremely nervous wearing something that expensive. Plus I don't think I'd be married too long if I made a purchase like that Lucky for me, I can fit into a Truspec and can still have a great uniform that's fairly in expensive and if something were to happen to it, I'd only be out 35 - 40 dollars, compared to nearly 10 times that. Also 98% of people that aren't a part this community won't know the difference anyway. I do have to admit that the idea of getting a custom built Dark Gray uniform is so tempting.

DarkSpectre wrote: . . . I do have to admit that the idea of getting a custom built Dark Gray uniform is so tempting. Yeah, i have 6 swatches of the poly/cotton blend fabric heading to me now. They are navy, dark navy, and dark grey in both light weight and heavy weight. Once they show up, I'll take pictures of the colors so people can see them and see if we can figure out what color to go with!

no offense taken. Yeah, I have my black and gold SCGB uniform and I don't wear it that often. I like to know options, though. For my GBSI minisodes I wear my beat up barn jacket, and my labcoats. They wouldn't make sense at a con, but this is the comicon SOP for me.
10:00 enter con
10:05 my son has to pee
10:09 reach bathroom
10:09:30 exit bathroom
10:09:30 - 11:30 search each booth one---at---a---time for a certain Star Wars Figure, maybe shake hands with a GB, maybe get a pic with someone
11:31 we're broke, my son instantly becomes tired, we go home
so, eh, not getting a lot of use with the threads : )

Nevermind, I had to re-read your original post and the other one I responded to.
Sorry you had to sell your khaki but at least you have your custom ones still.

Well, I got my swatches in the mail today. Good news and bad news. I wanted the poly/cotton blend swatches but instead they sent me nomex. So instead of getting Dary Grey as one of the colors, I got just Grey. So here are the swatches I got on a piece of white paper. Its Navy standard weight nomex, Dark Navy in light weight, and Grey in 2 different weights. And here are the 2 navy's sitting on my dyed tru-spec flight suit. (with flash) (without flash) And then a shot of Dan waiting between shots: But on the plus side, as you can see with my pictures, I think the best color to go with would be just the navy. And hopefully the color doesn't change that much between the poly cotton/blend and the nomex.

And Vince, one thing about your suit. Vincenzo330 wrote: [center] No FOD cover on the left sleeve pocket and no P/P portion The ones in GB2 atleast did have the P/P portion on the arm pocket: (as seen on Ray's arm) Not a big deal, but figured I'd point it out.

Yeah, no problem man. (open the image in another window to see it bigger) And one of the suits on a mannequin in the lobby of Sony in Cali. If you also just want to watch gb2, its very visible when Ray and Winston are packing up outside the birthday party scene. There just aren't any good screen shots of it online and I don't have the ability to take screen caps.

It's too bad they don't do wind flaps anymore, or else these really would be super accurate GBII jumpsuits.

From what I can tell, and from looking at the Gibson-Barnes suit one of our GaGB members wears (Looking at you, Jesse!), I believe they actually will do the wind flaps now. I don't know if they're standard (it does show them in the photos on their site), or if they are custom additions at an additional price. I just recently emailed Amy at G-B with a few questions; that was among them. (My other question for her was the possibility of having the suits done in customer-supplied fabric.) I'll be sure to relay all her answers here. I can't tell very well from the pictures, but it also looks like VinC's suit has the windflap. DAMN you guys for making me want one of these now!
