This has probably already been covered in a previous post, but I really don't feel like wading through all of that to find it-- what I want to know is what people (wimminz, specifically, or guys who bought for their ladies) have commonly found to be the best suit for women. I mean like size, and style-wise. I have both the zip up and button down dresses, but I haven't done the flightsuit yet and most of the ones I HAVE tried on are enormous and require a ton of tailoring to fit. Am I pretty much going to have to buy a men's suit and alter it, or is there another solution? (If it helps, I am 5'8" and normal body size... ahem...) All suggestions are appreciated

There are mil spec women's flight suits out there; I see them every day at work. I'll ask around and see what kind of places (outside base clothing issue) they find them.

Hey look, everyone jack is being really useful again! In the time it took you to type out your standard issue "use the search function" post you could have posted a helpful reply. From now on stop posting "use the search function" and just ignore those posts. This is why people stop coming here. What exactl;y are you doing besides alienating new people? If new people asking for help annoys you so much maybe you need to step down as a moderator. Here is what a decent human being says; "Hi, welcome to GBFans, here are a few links where that has been discussed. Women Ghostbusters / Authentic or sexy versions? viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8053Women's Pink Coveralls viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29325And here is a thread which describes ordering a tailor-fitted suit viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19861Hope that helps and as you get familiar with the site you'll find that most things can be located by using our search bar."

That was my first thought, but then I thought the OP could do the same search I would have to get those links. I would have ignored the post entirely but when the the OP said "This has probably already been covered in a previous post, but I really don't feel like wading through all of that to find it" I felt sarcasm and a soft kick in the pants was deserved. forum etiquite goes both ways. The whole thing will be moot when we get the index thread up though.

Well, maybe if you're new to the site and you aren't aware of a search function (let alone TWO!! How fancy.) you would appreciate a push in the right direction or a helpful (non-sarcastic) reply. If its easier to be nasty, though, I understand and I feel for you.

What exactly was "nasty" about my original post? Please, I'm curious and with a complete lack of sarcasm intended. It was just a standard push to use the search function. And seriously, you're going to tell me that you're so new to the internet that you don't know that every forum has a search function or where to find it? If you are, I apologise but I find that hard to believe.

I have never had anything to do with forums before, and maybe you find that difficult to believe, but it's been my experience that getting involved with one almost inevitably leads to situations just like this. It's nasty to be that sarcastic when someone new to the site has a simple question and it's well within your means to, as a moderator, simply answer it and help that person with what it is they need. Next time I'll use the search function, sorry to disrupt your day with my obvious ignorance. Congrats on making the whole experience so painful though. Maybe next time a link or two, as Vincenzo was helpful enough to provide, would serve you better. Just an observation.

Gibson and Barnes will make a custom flight suit for you. This is the "Style" you would orderisthe Sentinel I believe. You just tell them all of your deminsions, and they will get it done for you. They have exceptional customer service and will answer any question you have. here is the link http://www.gibson-barnes.com/index.php? ... rod_id=113This is the company that made the flight suits for gb2, fyi. Just let them know whet you want and they will add it on. Hope this helps!!

Thanks again!! :3 Glad I didn't scare you away, again I apologize. People totally new to forums and internet etiquite and culture in general are relatively rare. In general it's a good idea to read as much as you can before posting as repetitive/common posts are a source of annoyance for many existing forum regulars. As I said we're working on getting an index thread for this section to suppliment the search functions like was done for the Pack and Trap sections primarily because of people not using search which should help prevent this situation in the future. Given your fairly unique viewpoint I'd be interested in hearing any other impressions or suggestions you have to help new users transition into using the forums. I'm still curious also as to why you saw my original post as sarcstic and not informative or directional?

luvcatt wrote: Just an impression of overall tone, I guess. Yeah, tone's a tough thing on the internet as there's no inflection in written text. You have to be very very specific in your wording if you want to convey a certain tone or NOT convey one and you can do nothing about how someone else reads something. Add in that typing typically makes people respond briefly and things can come across as terse when they're just expedient. Intent can't really be read until the general feel of how someone posts and the overall interaction on the forum as a whole is better known. Best thing to do is try to not take things personally and/or use the report button on anything you think needs to be looked at by a mod.

Dude, I am new to forums, I'm not new to the Internet. You told Vinny that you meant to be sarcastic, a soft "kick in the pants," and all. I get it. You need to demonstrate how things are run here, and now it's been run into the ground. At this point, I'm over it. Sarcasm and tone aside, it would have been the nice thing to do to simply answer my question, which was accomplished several times over by people who didn't need to prove a point. I gave my input about the whole thing, and you got to be that guy. Everyone can go home now.

I know some women prefer the women's dickies uniform. You can get one right from www.dickiesgirl.com. They run in the 30 dollar range.

I'm a lady with a slender to average build and I bought a standard Nomex CWU-27P suit and just adjusted the Velcro tabs at the waist and it fits me fine. I wanted a movie accurate look and found the suit to be pretty unisex, just went with a small size on their size range-- the one closest to my actual measurements. I bought mine on eBay for cheap (got them so cheap got a few in a few sizes to try out, also own a secondhand one that is way too big but isn't my proper size according to the chart it just came with some other stuff in an auction lot) but are some good size charts online at the various online stores that sell them such as this one: http://helicopterhelmet.3dcartstores.co ... eChart.jpgI'm 5'11" so that probably helps, fit into the "regular" length ones but they do also make them in "short" sizes. For really tall people they have " long" sizes. I could see them being too big on someone really short or really tiny/petite. But some of the smaller sizes of the standard issue Nomex suits are definitely workable for taller, average sized women. The 34, 36, and 38 in particular are overall smaller everywhere. They aren't super-fitted, they fit like the movie suits and are meant to be worn as coveralls over tshirts so are looser than fitted clothes, also the separate pistol belt worn over the suit can help cinch in the waist. They could probably be altered a bit, like adjusting the Velcro strap lengths to be smaller but the zippers and styling wouldn't really allow major alterations to be made easily.

Also, something I found personally is that while a suit in the right approximate size range may seem a bit big when first put on to try on when worn alone, adding the GB accessories on top like a belt adjusted to your waist size cinches in the waist and the elastic elbow pads around your arms take in the sleeves and even tucking in and blousing the pants legs into GB jump boots can really help with the overall fit and profile.
If you are going for a completely different look Dickies and other companies sell retro pinup/vintage Rosie the riveter style work coveralls that are cute just not like the flightsuit style in the movies. Those are usually in women's and junior sizes if you can find them.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/84440166/vi ... pe=galleryLooks like a normal jumpsuit to me but, I don't know anything about women's clothing; other than its my job to hold it all while they shop They may be able to steer you in the right direction. You could go to the army surplus store and try some jumpsuits on, then make a decision from there.

For my wife's uniform, we used coveralls from Rosie's Workwear. I find that the tan/raspberry coverall has a tan-grey color that most guys doing dye-jobs on Rotchos would be envious of. Also, the "raspberry" pink trim adds a nice feminine touch. The biggest difference is that this is a snap-up coverall instead of a zipper but I personally don't think that's a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Also, we ordered a name badge with pink lettering to match the trim of the coveralls. Very cute. Here's a link to the Rosie's coverall: https://www.rosiesworkwear.com/shop/pro ... -pid2.html
