Hey guys, I put up a video of me reviewing an old favorite of mine, Ghostbusters 2 on the PC. I had a lot of fun making it, hopefully you'll enjoy watching it!

This is pretty awesome, I've never seen this version of the game before, MUCH better than the nintendo one (which is CRAZY since they use the Nintendo controller...also I wonder why they used the regular one and not the NES Advantage, its not like the advantage was more recognizable). Was this version on any other PC platforms? Like Commodore 64 perhaps?

As far as I know this particular version of Ghostbusters 2 wasn't ported to anything else, which is kind of weird. The Amiga and Commodore 64 both got a completely different game, where you play 3 or 4 arcade-like levels; the first has you going down the tunnel towards Van Horne, the second is piloting the Statue of Liberty, and I think the third and final is the battle against Vigo.

I always thought it was weird that they used the regular NES controller too instead of the Advantage, but I also thought it was pretty cool that they snuck in the NES controller!

Very entertaining! I never saw that game at all either, and it looks pretty decent.

I wonder if its available for download at one of those old game website?

You can still download the game at Abandonia. Just remember to also grab the map for the Statue of Liberty level. Fun side note, that's actually a scan of the map from my instruction manual, I sent it to them years ago when I saw they had the game up there but without the map it would be impossible to finish.

I still have mine somewhere, it has all sorts of pen marks counting how many blocks I had to go to find the museum; I remember once they set me up 2 blocks directly south of it - I got there in no time! I managed to beat the game a few times on my own too. It had come in a bundle called "Power-Hits Movies" that also included The Rocketeer, Die Hard, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Now I noticed the Famicom cartridge you had - Is that some "New Ghostbusters 2"? That's the best Ghostbusters game back then, the Subway music is kickin' rad. It was also released for the Gameboy (though heavily watered down.)

Yup, it is New Ghostbusters 2. Yeah, I actually didn't play the Game Boy Ghostbusters 2 until after I'd played New, and from the visuals, I assumed they'd be the same game. But yeah, New Ghostbusters 2 is actually way better.

It's very, very, VERY watered down. You're only in one building (I think. I didn't get very far and the screen is too small to have that much detail) and it plays the same DOOT DOOT, DOOT-DA-DOOT music over and over and over and over and over....

Thanks for that link! I've been wanting to explore some old games running under win7. It'll be interesting to revisit some old freinds.

Sure thing! Don't forget to download DosBox, or D-Fend Reloaded, which is what I use. D-Fend is basically just DosBox with a nice graphical user interface to make it easier to run games and change settings.

D-Fend sounds like the way to go then.

I also need to reinstall my amiga emulator on my pc as well again.
