Hotwheels Elite has posted new photos of their completed prototype Ghostbusters Ecto-1 on their website here. This version is 1:43 scale (slightly larger than regular Hotwheels) and will be limited to less than 10,000 units. Also coming soon is a 1:18 scale version which if looks anything like this small scale prototype, will also be amazing. Unfortunately the description they provide for the car is full of incorrect information:

The Ecto-1 is the legendary vehicle that the Ghostbusters used to travel throughout the city busting ghosts. The vehicle used for the Ecto-1 was a 1959 Cadillac professional ambulance, built by the Miller-Meteor company and converted by Universal Studios. “GhostBusters” is the famous 1984 American comedy film about three eccentric New York City parapsychologists-turned-ghost exterminators. Ready to live an incredible experience thanks to this car collection?!

Thanks to Robert Wieschalla for posting it on our Facebook page.

ensignram must sleep in a pile of Ecto 1 toys. its not like most people can just pick one up of various sizes whenever they want while they're at the store. the Hotwheels are really the only ones in retail circulation right now, the Hallmark ones are rare (especially since Christmas is over) and the ERTL and JL ones are really rare and can usually only be found via ebay. I wholeheartedly welcome any new Ecto1 releases and will be buying 2-3 of the 1:43 scale and at least one of the 1:18 scale

BBTS says list price for the 1:43 is $40.99 and 1:18 is $114.99, although they have the prices marked down slightly. Not sure if that's actual MSRP though. The Japanese online toy store AmiAmi has preorders up also, with list prices at 6,500 and 15,800 yen. For US buyers this would be more expensive even with AmiAmi's 20% off, but it's really nice to see these getting an international release!
