The what... 2 whole people griping about small inaccuracies is now an avalanche of complaints worthy of such melodramatic theatrics? Is that dynamic duo really something to say " god help us if they ever make a Proton Pack" because you fear that one dude might make a list of inaccuracies? Clean your glasses. Do some in this community tend to simply not read the actual replies in threads and just assume what the replies are instead? It's a common scenario, happened with the PKE meters also. There is more people complaining that the " fans are ungrateful" than there are actually fans actually acting ungrateful. Meaning, in hyperbole, for every 1 person who says " this sucks" there are 50 people saying " I can't believe there's somebody saying this sucks!" and those 50 however think those odds are reversed, and that it's a whole community griping while they're giving some sort of enlightened perspective. That is simply not the case. There are almost no fans in this community who are ungrateful, almost no fans who are complaining about the Matty product, almost no fans who are bitching about inaccuracies even if they are .01" difference. If instead of assuming what the replies are in a thread, and you actually READ the thread, you'll notice something quite remarkable. Or, if you don't have the time, I'll make it easier for ya. I'm one of them, I truly can't wait to get one of these traps, I think they did a sweet-tits job and highly looking forward to purchase day. Pretty much 99% of the community is thumbs up. A number of folks here need to stop trying to blame the community for the actions of a few. There is just not that much " bitching" ( meaning: critiquing) going on, it's almost not even existent. Just barely at all. If you see scarcely 1 or 2 people making bones about something don't argue with the community as if its their fault, because clearly the community is NOT bitching but instead ecstatic at Matty's work and support. Be a man, clean your glasses, get some perspective, and pick your fight and single them out specifically.

are you guys quite done yet? I'm not looking forward to a 65 page flame war up until October over this. This is a really cool replica for pretty much everyone. Most people who build their own props I don't think look at it as a necessary evil because we have no choice in the matter. I believe most, if not all, people on this site build the props because it is fun. There's an excitement that comes with the "thrill of the hunt" for parts and people also have a deep sense of pride regardless of skill level of his/her end result.
Some of you may not remember but this site used to be called gbprops.com. So if your criticizing people for pointing out the flaws in these Matty props then you came to the wrong site. The reason people are mentioning the inaccuracies is because your in a PROP DISCUSSION BOARD. Some of us have researched these props for years. So why can't those people speak up about this prop without seeming ungrateful and getting berated?
It's an immature attitude to say to the people of this board (in other words) "now you prop builders on this site can suck it because Matty is making me a trap and you can't have my money" Remember not to bite the hand that feeds you because without this board, its talented members, and supporting information this franchise wouldn't be in the position its in today.
It's a mass produced item. I had no expectations for the Matty ghost trap. I think they did a great job all things considered. I just have no patience for people trying to make it more of it than what it is. If you want perfection, do it yourself

I want to play with this so bad. If I had this as a kid I would have flipped. Only lights I had in my Kenner Ghost Trap were the lightning bugs I would catch in it.

Matty if you are reading this.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work on a different way to do the hinges on the doors. I didn't notice them until I saw the new video on the GBFans home page. This thing has been a roller coaster of emotions for me. Looks like plastic, meh.But that trap petal is pretty ace, and IT LIGHTS UP WITH SOUND AND HAS OPERATIONAL DOORS!!!! WOOOOOOO!!The cartridge looks to be mounted rather low, meh BUT THE CARTRIDGE IS REMOVABLE?!?! WOOOOOOOO!The hinges are freaking ugly as sin. Meeeeeeeh.

I hope everyone understands there aren't going to be any major changes to this between now and October (that's less than three months away...) Paint and sticker improvements are about all you can hope for.

i think if matty are gonna do props they should just stick with props like the PKE Meter (which they have already done) the giga meter, KUD meter, RGB PKE Meter, you know props that are hard to build from scratch because the pieces to make them are hard to get a hold of especially the giga meter, but this trap they have made does look pretty awesome ....... i think they proton packs should be self made because then you get more satisfaction out of building it.

Guys, I just cleaned out a bunch of posts in this thread.
If you love the trap, post it.
If you hate the trap, post it.
Discussion of the trap, it's features and (in)accuracy is great.
Bitching is fine.
Bitching ABOUT people bitching will be deleted.
No one will be changing opinions. People don't bother to follow each others arguments anyway and it just fills the thread with crap that no one wants to read and inflames a controversy that isn't really that big.

The low cartridge reminds me of a RGB trap, which is kind of a flat-ish rectangle, while the movie trap is much more boxxy boxy.

I've been in a better moo simply by watching just the videos of the trap. I can't wait to actually get--when I build my future trap, it'll definitely help with drawing, planning, and basically getting an idea how I want to go about it. Just having it in my hand will really help.

I think this trap looks pretty awesome! I bought the PKE meter because I knew I would never feel like building one. I built my first proton pack in high school when the only plans available were Norm's first draft. My focus in the last of couple years has been on finding all of the parts for pack much more accurate than my original, writing code for light boards, accumulating tools, learning new craftsmanship techniques, etc. (All on the side while trying to be a good husband, father, and teacher If Mattel wants to take on the task of building the props I may never get to, that is fine by me! Before I saw the video, I wasn't expecting the trap to do many of the things it does!

(Wasn't one of the labels 90% wrong?) 90° wrong at any rate, the one down beside the black knob. The one on the battery compartment appears to be too short, but these are elements that might get fixed by the time it's released (if not, we know where to get the files to make better ones).

Do you think we could contact Mattel and put in a bulk order, maybe getting a bit of a discount? At the end of the day, us costumers who will want and use the trap, will just be promoting it to other people when we costume with them? I'm up for one for sure while the UK £ is good against the US $ Any other Brits on this thread after one?

I don't see why they would allow that when 1) They have order limits to prevent bulk orders and 2) There's no reason to give you a discount. Moreover, have we even heard if UK people will be allowed to buy this, or are they going to have the same shipping issues as the PKE? I don't think it's been confirmed yet.
