And before anyone goes nuts, No, they haven't said anything at all about it to my knowledge at all yet. I was making a sick joke at the UK's current news expense.
It really just the beginning of the ZombieApocalypse. I saw 28 days. Remember, Double Tap!
...or Triffids. They plagued the UK as well.
...or Konga.
...or Gorgo.
(There.. I think I have all the UK monsters covered now.)

Fine, I'll buy one, have it shipped to my friend in San Diego, who will then box it up as "used curtains" and ship it to me with a value of $15. It will then arrive under the import tax radar. Have done it several times, works like a treat.

If caught that friend risks a $10,000 fine, and up to 5 years in federal prison according to 13 U.S.C. § Secton 305 of the US Code.

It´s been some time since the announcement of the ghost trap, and nothing else since then... or there are some juicy news to talk about? In two months more it will be October, I´m afraid of a delay on the release of this sweetie..

It hasn't been a full month since it was announced, there's no reason to get worried about a non-existant delay. Remember how long we went without any updates on the PKEs? I'm sure we'll get some more info within the next 30 days.

This will be similar to the PKE Meter.
They will only get them in and figured out at the very last minute.
Expect news in September.

Does anyone know if Mattel has said anything about this shipping before Christams?

^^^ I understand this, But I am figuring that it runs more like the PKE did, with the purchase date being in October and the shipping date in early December. If they have these things made and ready to ship in October that would be fantastic!

The PKE Meter had a purchase date in December and a shipdate in December.

So most likely we can expect to get these by Halloween. That would be perfect.

Has anybody heard when this thing'll be available to preorder or purchase yet? I've been poking around at MattyCollector's forums, but haven't been able to find much. October draws ever closer...

Probably the 15th, since that when they usually put stuff on sale. That means odds are we'll have it in hand for halloween, but probably just a few days before hand.
I was hoping we might see them ship sooner, so we'd have them for seasonal October events. At least Inflatable stay puft made it early.

ringskirts wrote: Meph wrote: I agree with Chapter. What Matty produces should be labeled as Toys. Not a Prop. If I buy a product that's a toy for a good price, and I find tiny insignificant inaccuracies, I really don't care because it's a toy and it was affordable. Now if I buy something labeled as a Replica/Prop then I don't expect inaccuracies as it absolutely needs to be accurate. That's when elitism is acceptable.
PKE was $60, and Chapter can show me as long of a list as he wants, but it means nothing to me because it's a toy I don't care what the list is. Does it look like a PKE meter? Does it function? Then we're good to go. It's simple like that.
I am looking forward to seeing the final production of this new Trap. I don't expect smoke, that'd be most likely ridiculous. But lights, yes. Functioning doors? Maybe. All depends on the final pricepoint. Seriously does it matter what you call it? A lack of accuracy doesn't "demote" something to the classifications of toy. A toy is simply something you play with for the purpose of amusement and bringing one joy. Doesn't matter if you made it, someone else in a factory did, or if some one in Canada fabricated a kit for you to assemble and paint your self, it's still pretty much a toy. To those that like it, enjoy the amusement and affordable nostalgia that it brings you. Cause this thing sure looks like it's going to be fun. For those who choose to tear it apart and villainize Mattel for making a decent representation of the equipment form the GB property and prefer to make their own complain and pick away at the product all you like. But understand that the powers that be will never aim to please the unpleasable. i agree with this statement 100%. whether you make it on your own or buy it from a company, its never going to be the "real thing" as the real thing never existed to begin with and no it will not really trap ghosts and such, that is for use with your imagination (if you have one) and would therefore qualify these as toys. for those that would love to own a ghostbuster uniform but cannot afford to buy some of the overly priced extremly expensive fanmade stuff, this is a perfect compromise because not only is mattel chooseing to MAKE this thing, but they have gone the extra 10 miles and given us something that is very true to the look of the film gadgets, even gone as far as to add lights and sound effects straight from the movie. even if it is plastic, its disguised well so it doesnt give the exact apearance of plastic. i was and am still amazed at the level mattel went with the PKE. yes its plastic (wouldnt imagine it any other way honestly), but its an actual functional prop/toy, similiar to what fans make, that is extremly close to the one used in the film. not perfect but very very close. and the trap IMO looks even more like the prop used in the film.

GhostGuy wrote: I predict that people will gut these by the dozen for the electronics and stick them in real traps. "real" traps? LOL. there is no such thing, im not sure what your trying to say. fanmade props might be slightly more accurate but mattels IS a real GB style trap just the same. if you weathered it a bit more it wouldnt look much different from the ones people make on here. i honestly am so tired of the elitust crap saying what or what isnt a "real" prop. they are all real props and much like the ones in the movie.

In think they look excellent, especially considering these are mass produced and not one off props. Mattel did a very good job with this one.

The only things I dislike at all about the trap is the length of time before the trap shakes, and that funky pattern on the "aluminum" parts. I still wonder where they got the idea to do that from?
I am impresed though at everything else, and now that I've had mine for a while, I think the durability of the handle will be fine, unless someone is stupid with theirs.

I have purchased metal and plastic castings/mouldings before, but Im no expert...Couldnt the wavy patterns be from the manufacturing process. Perhaps cheap moulds which they didnt bother polishing to save costs? Or I thought that perhaps the actual prop has these lines because it was produced using a lathe and not finished smooth afterwards because there was unlikely to be a real tight close up where it would show up. The handle was a worry for me. Not sure if it has a metal strip in it but mine feels pretty sturdy...for now!

Adam_Fozz I think they are intentionally engraved into the parts to simulate metal. Sent from my HP Touchpad using Ghostbusters Fans on Android

I am fairly sure the pattern is supposed to simulate aluminum plate that has been machined flat on a mill. I have seen the pattern before and I sort of laughed when I saw it on the trap
