"Mattel's "Ghostbusters" collectible line debuts with 12-inch figures in June 2009, and will be available exclusively at MattyCollector.com. Each figure will feature window box packaging and include authentic Ghostbuster equipment unique to each character. For the first time, Mattel's line will include talent likeness of Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddemore. Select prototype figures will be on display February 6-8 at New York Comic Con and February 15 at Mattel's New York Toy Fair Collector Preview Night (by invitation only).
"Ghostbusters" collectors can also look forward to 6-inch figures, with one debuting at San Diego Comic Con in July 2009. Sculpted by Four Horsemen Studios, the team currently working on Mattel's popular DC Universe™ Classics and Masters of the Universe® Classics collectible lines, the 6-inch line will come complete with authentic "Ghostbusters" equipment and ghost.
Mattel will also create characters and ghosts from the classic animated series, “The Real Ghostbusters,” to go along with the classic “Ghostbusters” film."
They look like they might be only exclusive on there
Hopefully with enough intrest they might eventually get a more wide-spread release. I can't imagine them doing the 6 inch lines solely as exclusives. Still something we might have to keep in mind, though.

I wonder if the game directly lead to this. If so, myabe they'll come with game style equipment as well?
HOLY CRAP!!! I just read the article all the way through (I guess in my excitement, I stopped at the 12 inch exclusives).
So, we're getting:
12 inch figures with equipment and actor likeness figures 6 inch figures with ghosts and equipment AND NEW FIGURES BASED ON RGB!!! THAT CAN MOVE MORE THAN ARMS AND LEGS UP AND DOWN PLEASE!!!
Wow. This is crazy. I'm anticipating:
12in Ray w/ pack and ecto-goggles 12in Egon w/ pack and PKE meter 12in Winston w/ pack and 2 traps 12in Peter w/ pack and sniffer
Hopefully with the new RGB line we'll get figures of all the big bad guys like Sandman, Boogeyman, SamHaine, Grundel, etc. With the 6in movie line, I'm guessing the we'll get a blend of movie ghosts AND ones from the game (opera ghost, crusty, etc.)

The 4 Horsemen to amazing work, and I'm REALLY looking foreward to these! Odds are, I'll buy the 12" figures and the asmaller ones, to populat my old RGB firehouse.
(And oddly enough, I just took it, and my ecto 1 out of mothballs yesterday!)

I'm hoping $35-$40 each for the 12" figures, and the 6" figures should show up in stores.. maybe they'll reissue the firehouse with new deco and details as well?
If the 3rd movie is finally greenlighted, we'll be in GB heaven for the next 2 or 3 years!

Well, yeah, I believe that. I saw the Dark Knight figures that Hot Toys did and I am truly astonished. But this isn't hot toys or any of those companies. It's mattel. That's what I was getting at. Am I saying they won't be absolutely awesome when we get them? Not at all. I love their DC action figures to death. Mattel just isn't one of those companies. I doubt if Hot Toys made their Batman stuff in 6inch scale that we'd see them hanging on a rack in Walmart or target next to Mattel's stuff. That's why I'm thinking a lower price. Not more than double what they'd charge for any 2 DC figures. Their new Starfire and Adam Strange 2-pack is going for $25 on their site. I anticipate something in the same price range for one 12inch GB figure, despite them being a website exclusive. For the movie and RGB 6 in. figures, I would put money on them hanging out right next to the DC figures they make in Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, etc. in the exact same price range too, $10-15.

Most likely fully poseable action figures. They would've said statues if that's what they were. I agree though those would be cool. But just think, now instead of having a static pose, you can make them do whatever you want! And the joints will be hidden by their uniforms! Flawless Victory!

The joints don't appear hidden on the 6" figures on the Mattel site. Do you know that the 12" figures will be different?
they mention 6 inch figures too! but do they have to make it internet exclusive??? i didnt even get te master of the universe line. when are they gonna put these in mass retail?!

Well, no, but I'm just anticipating. Most 12inch figures have actual fabric clothing. I could be wrong, but that's usually the case where I've seen them. For 6 inch, it'll definitely be just sculpted.
Looking back at the article again, for the 6 inch line, it sounds like we'll get movie GBs and ghosts (maybe Janine as well hopefully?), and then added into the line will be RGB ghosts and supporting characters. I'm guessing there'll be plenty of opprotunity to build an army for the team to fight against.
I want a mee-krah playset with giant red electric demon octopus ghost and Ecto-2 vehicle...
I would think the 6 inchers are gonna be everywhere (Wal-mart, Target, Toys R Us, etc). 12 inch is understandable for site exclusives, but to sell the whole line up only online is a little too much. Put money on once again looking down the toy isle and seeing a GB logo/banner hanging over the rack

So wait, will these be on the show floor for the public at NY Comicon?! It looks like the "By Invitation Only" factor may not apply at NY Comicon, but I'm probably just hoping like a fool.

I've never been much of a 12 inch figure guy either, though I'll probably get these. Good news is though that a 6 inch line up of movie AND new RGB figures from the same people will be hitting store shelves at the same time as these become available!
