Long overdue update!

I must explain myself.....

For those that don't remember, back in 2006, I announced a fan film that was to be released early 2007 entitled "Ghostbusters: Generation."

http://www.ghostbustersgeneration.com

I posted stills, clips, and all sorts of material in relation to this film. 2007 came and went. 2008 came and went. 2009 came and when. The film was on constant hiatus.

The main reason I post this thread is to update those interested in the film on what's happening. Despite the hiatus, the film is NOT dead. Due to work, film school, other life obligations (all of which kicked into full force late 2007), this film was subject to constant delay. To make a long story short: GBG was the first professional film endeavor I ever tackled. I went in with a clear picture of what I wanted but as shooting began, my ambitions exceeded my resources. I wanted more CGI, more scale, more this, more that. Mind you, this was all occurring 3 months into shooting. I added more to the plate and when things finally got under control, life was giving me other things to deal with. I transferred to film school, started working in the indie film circuit, and thus, the hiatus kicked into overdrive.

Will the film come out? I spent nearly a year of my life working on this. I asked actors, peers, and all others to help me on this. It's plain unfair to just cancel the film and have all that hard work thrown down the toilet. The film may not meet the standards I have as a film maker today but I made it to share with others so, not only will it come out; it MUST come out.

Now the when: for those of you familiar with my work, I'm about 2 months away (May 7th to be exact) from releasing my new fan film, "Megaman". With the attention that will receive, what better opportunity to relight the GBG flame? Simply put, shortly after MM is released, GBG will follow. Could be May, June, or July. All I know is that the film needs to be released. One way or another, GBG will be available. I'm just sorry that I made this film at a time in which it suffered hiatus. If I made this film now, it would have been an entirely different situation. Again, for those that still wait; thanks for your patience. For those that donated; expected what you were promised. To those that have forgotten; I'm sorry I kept you waiting!

Eddie

Wow, Eddie. Looks nice. I even love what you did with the GB logo. I'll be showing this to the boys on the team here. You should be working for WETA!

nice to know that you kept the faith and that it will be out soon. Our fanfilm is pretty much dead. We stretched our limits of money and talent, then the footage was stolen, recovered, and then a large (12 hour long day) section of filming wasn't backed up, so people walked from the film. We are going to try to do mini-sodes like the GB 911 guys, but that remains to be seen. We have a lot of young folks who's schdules conflict, so I understand completely about the "hiatus" thing.

Agreed.

Though he may prefer Mega Man, and thus rather get the film finished. I've been awaiting for Generations for awhile now, I'll be looking forward to it's release.

"5 Years Later"

HAHA! Brilliant!

Meh, it's not even a matter of preferring MM over GBG. It's the fact MM got the publicity and exposure I was hoping GBG would get but might as well use MM to help GBG. Frankly, both films represent a part of my childhood that has shaped who I am today. :-]

I don't think using Mega Man to promote Ghostbusters Generation sounds good. I mean, if Eddie were to add the trailer before MM, then yes it would be ok. But really, it's not a good idea.

I don't think he's using MegaMan to promote Generations...but that being said, you can tell from MM that his style, techniques and such have clearly advanced. Its an entire movie, as well...90 minutes long. http://www.toplessrobot.com/2010/05/the ... y_mega.php

And his CG is amazing.

Looking good, daftkid. I'd love to chat one on one about filmmaking and some of your ideas...PM me if you'd like, I'm sure you're busy enough as it is.

And here we are. It's December 2010. This movie, I suspect, will not be coming out, or at least anytime soon.

This summer, eh?

I want to see it. I just don't know what to believe anymore.

I want this movie, a lot. I want another GB fan film that can stand up to Braxtan's RotGB, and a film that won't have subtitles.

WE NEED THIS TO BE RELEASED, PEOPLE. AT LEAST I KNOW IT'S GOING TO BE BETTER THAN GHOSTBUSTERS 3!

I think 2010 was a heavy year for gb fan films, comparitively speaking. Maybe generations is being shelved for the sake of breathing room?

That being said, I vouch that SLC holds its own against Return. 30 minutes of well acted, 24p anamorphic video reminiscent of RGB? That combines with Italia is more than enough to hold me over.

I agree that it should get released whats another movie that we can watch with joy like we did when we all got up early on Saterdays to watch RGB so I say release it or stop saying you made it Eddie. And speaking of SLC Im can't wait for Chronicals (I know my spelling is bad so sound it out ) it should be good.

We here at GB911 want to help you spread the word about GBG. Your trailer looks fantastic, and we'd like to know if you'd let us use it as one of our commercials in our show. We're always willing to help other filmmakers plug themselves! Let us know.

Also...

I agree, SLC is one of my absolute favorites out there. The characters feel so much like the characters in the original film, but still kept their own originality. So many elements from the cartoon perfectly married with the live action films (like the trap mounted on the side of Silver's proton pack). And a plot that felt like it could easily be either almost a third movie or a toon episode. It felt like I was watching what would happen if the movies and the cartoon had a kid! Same can be said for GBNH: Spilled Milk...top notch job! In fact those two fan films have inspired me to start work on my own side project.

I was also impressed with Scott's ability to hang his gun back up on the pack with such ease! We almost always have to have someone else hang our guns back up for us. :sigh:

Foom and Tyler - Thanks for the kind words fellas. I feel like a high school basketball player getting a pat on the back from Michael Jordan. Ghostbustin' 911 and GBNH are amazing works that we are trying to just live up to.

With that said, regarding GBG, We at the SLC team CANNOT FREAKIN' WAIT FOR THIS FILM! Everything in the trailers looks boss and from what I've heard from people that have seen the rough cut, it will be well worth the wait! Eddie has a habit of biting off more projects than he can chew and then disappearing for a bit, but when it does finally get finished and released it will be EPIC!

Ya hear us Eddie! We wanna see GBG!

I think part of the problem, is when we start production on fan films, we want to show everyone the steps. But then, everyone is sitting waiting for it to be released.
