With only mere months until ComicCon, I'm never going to have time to make this. However, I thought I'd share anyhow - this is the closest I will ever get to building a costume or prop.

A friend that works on Stargate recommended fabric over a frame, whereas I saw it as foam over a frame, covered in cloth - I think the fabric alone would look good, but not be terribly substantial when people interact with it. The downside is that it'd be hot hot hot (hence the fan at top - upon more thinking, I'd probably point it outwards and let the space between the torso and legs act as a vent in, allowing the fan to blow rising hot air out.) I guess half inch foam might

There have been a more and more Stay-Puft costumes in recent years, but they're all human height - and while you can't make one 100 feet tall, you can make one 8-9 feet tall. This was what came out of that thinking.

If anybody makes it happen, go for it.

As many a school mascot has learned - but any little bit of venting helps.

This instantly reminded me of this Master Shake costume I ran into at a party a few years back. He used the same technique and built the frame from water pipe and was able to look out the eyes. He was able to put his hands in the yellow gloves and walked around with a beer most of the night.

A guy in town keeps emailing us about wanting to be the big guy. I think I need steer him this direction.

I beliee it´s an amazing idea. I would love to see someone accomplish this project. You could have fun, and loose weight at the same time.

Any idea how much an inflatable costume like that would cost?

I forget. I remember it was some ridiculous amount for the pair of them. In the thousands for one of them I believe? I may be wrong on that, will have to check. Costly anyway and rightfully so I imagine. . Needless to say, everyone was told to be really careful with them and definetly not to eat or drink around them. No brainer there. Well for as much as a lot of us put into our GB costumes, that really resonated :D Plus I wouldn't want to be the one to spill something on them! :-o That cucumber is tall! Be cool to see a huge Stay Puft like that.

EDIT: I just asked someone from work and they seem to remember 5000 and 6000. I seem to remember that as well now.

and fabricated a stay-puft costume out of nylon?

Someone with good sewing skills could definitely pull it off.

I think like any costume like that, it would be hot but not unbearable. As long as you stay hydrated, pace yourself and take breaks, definetly having someone with you, it'd be ok. If you've ever been in any costume character like that, once you see peoples reactions, especially kids, your adrenaline and stuff will keep you going. Probably one of the more fun rewarding things I've done. :D

I think if you are going to be around small children with this costume, you'd need to make it with the happy face rather than the angry/mean face. Can you imagine a kids' reaction to this gigantic angry looking marshmallow man coming toward them?

The smiling face definetly can help but some kids can be scared of the sheer overwhelming size of the characters at times. It's funny some will run right up and hug them and others will be intimidated a bit. Lots of them will scream their heads off as well :D

I love this idea. I'd almost be up for the challenge, except I'd like to be able to enjoy my costume in the bars again, and with an 8-9 foot tall marshmallow man costume, I don't see myself getting into any bars around here. Not to mention how crowded it seems to be at the clubs, bars and random conventions around my parts..

..but still, it's so almost worth it.
