So, assuming that GB3 gets made, who else would like to see a comic adaption done in the Real Ghostbusters/NOW Comics style, like the GB2 adaption? I know that the original guys might not have as much screentime in GB3, but I would still love to see something like that - it's just such a cool concept. Anyone else agree?

Well, IDW did movie prequels and movie adaptations of both Transformers and GI Joe, if I remember correctly. Since they've got the GB license now, we very could possibly get GB comics like that.

However, that wouldn't be in RGB style. (Or very doubtful to be in RGB style).

Yeah, but, like GhstbstrLMLIII says...

Yeah, it'll probably be in the current "Looks sorta like the actors, but not close enough to get sued" aesthetic; or, as a direct movie tie-in, they might actually be able to get the actor likeness rights.

An old fan could just wish, though...

I know what you guys are saying - if we get a comic adaption at all, it will likely be a more "realistic" style. But that doesn't mean it couldn't be done in a more RGB type style, or cartoonish style.

I mean, I would buy a GB3 comic no matter what, but the reason I stress doing it RGB/cartoonish style is (1.) as a nostalgic throwback, obviously, to the GB2 adaption, and (2.) if they just did it in a realistic style it would be kind of conceptually boring; like looking at a bunch of "still" frames from a "moving" picture, only with speech bubbles. By making it a sort of intra-franchise crossover however, (cartoon visuals, live-action script), it makes the thing more of a "high-concept" novelty piece. And that's more interesting IMO.

I loved Dan Schoening's contribution to IDW - if they didn't want to go all-out RGB, then at the very least they could hire Dan to do it in his unique style....

I'm still waiting for a GB adaptation. We had RGB, GB2 and original stories, but the original movie was never adapted. Maybe incorporating some of the cut dialogue found in the novelizations.

I've actually been itching to write the script as a fun little exercise. Give it some extra content like Dark Horse's Evil Dead adaptation a couple years ago so it's the movie, but not quite.

I think if a GB3 adaptation is made they should use Dapper Dan to illustrate it :)

I have to agree - a Dapper Dan adaptation would be great.

About eight years ago, at the time I was starting in GB online fandom, I started an unofficial one, and made it about halfway through. It's all pencil art on printer paper, and I lettered it by hand (which renders it virtually unreadable, since my handwriting sucks). It would have ended up about the equivalent of six issues, and would have (hey, it's me, right?) incorporated some references and "foreshadowing" to things from the cartoons.

I ended up drifting away from it when my fan fic started to get noticed. The only things that ever made it online were:

One page during the Sedgewick bust, which is at the top of my Fan Art pages;
http://archive.ectozone.com/images/ (An untouched scan)
http://www.ectozone.com/images/ (later photoshopped to clean it up and reletter it)

And the fan fic Ghost Stories, which I originally wrote to be the text pages beginning Chapter 4, as a replacement for the Montage sequence.

I doubt I'll ever finish the thing now. Plus I draw some things so different now I'm not sure how well it'd flow together, and it'd be a pain to start all over again.
:whatever:
