Discuss the content of pages on the site, as well as figure out how to properly format pages you are editing.

As some of you may know. The Ghostbusters Fans site is actually a huge Wiki. All the pages are editable. Here is the Ectomobile section: http://www.gbfans.com/equipment/ectomobile/

One of the goals of this group is going to be to fill in as much information as possible.

We need to come up with a structure (already sort of completed by Loren) and then fill it in with information. Maybe we can try to tackle a few pages each week?

Lets discuss this.

Almost 100% of this information can be found across the street. It will be pretty much just copy and paste but would take a while to get it all over here. As soon as this section's pages have been reformatted, then we can start adding. I'd like to know what everyone elses opinion of how to organize this section is though, what do you guys think?

We need to outline it, then suboutlines, and then go from there. My structure below isn't definitive, just a concept.

YOUR PROJECT
  • Showcase
    Events

RESTORING A CAR
  • Buying a car ( where to, license, insurance, etc. )
    Bodywork
    Powertrain
    Electrical
    Paint
    Glass
    Interior

ECTO EQUIPMENT
  • Rack Items
    • Rack
      T.I. Box
      Dome
      Weather Antennae
    Lights
    • Lightbar
      Strobe
      Red Beacon light
      Par-46 lights

At this point let's just try to collect a primary index and put it in motion. Once done, we can propagate it with secondary tier topics which will actually be the threads.

My recommendations are obviously:

How to buy/register/insure and rebuild the the thing

How to build the props

Things you've done with it.

All of the Ecto-specific stuff I learned off you guys, but I might be able to help with some of the mechanical tricks I've found along the way while working on my car.

By the way I finally got my brake drums off! This is the first job I've encountered where I nearly lost my shit. I officially hate drum brakes. Especially really old and rusty ones.

I sent this to AJ shortly after the Ecto Excursion, but I figured I'd post it here for review and consensus.

Ectomobile lightbars needs to be renamed just Lightbars
The Code 3 Force 4 URL needs to be deleted.
The link under the ectomobile subforum needs to be changed to /ectobmoile instead of /ectomobiles

Federal Siren needs to be deleted.

Here are the URLs that need to be added:

Grimes bumper strobes
Ferno-Washington mortuary gurney
Panoramic rearview mirror
Light switch panel
Midland CB radio
Tektronix Oscilloscope
Atenna Specialists whip antennae
Blue drain hoses
Regency scanner
Gentec dummy load antenna
Telefunken control head
Liquid-tight gray electrical conduit
Type A-6 oxygen tanks
Honeywell MPC panel
Lunaire input/out tester panel
PRC-41 radio with H-33 handset
Skinner Precision Industries Polynoid linear actuator (that one might be a litle long)
General Dynamics sound reproducer
AYQ-5 computer (this is a 1A part)
Sonobuoy (another 1A part)
A/C roof rack fan box
GRC-10 receiver
LAC box
Initial Condition/Longitude measurer
Martin Marietta UHF/power distribuor
Sono Channel ASA-20
Unidentifiable parts
Lear Siegler control panel
Texas Instruments sensitivity unit
Radar dish and saw mandrel
Sniffer tower
Radome
Yellow roof rack tube
Heat Sinks
16-pin plastic connector
Gray hose coupling
Sony X-plode stereo parts
Measurements/blueprints
Interior parts list
Exterior parts list

AJ did say he didn't want to delete the redundant URLs, just redirect them to the actual page that's being used.

Yes, I think that was what I originally had in mind.

Forum topic re: each part = where the discussion happens.

Wiki post = where the definitive info goes.

Let all the discussion happen on the threads, let the currently accepted final disposition be displayed on the Wiki. A Wiki can tell you what whip antennae to get. A thread is where we can discuss where it goes, what obstacles are in your way, what needs to be removed first and then reassembled, etc.

Imagine if GBFans were like Wikipedia.. are each of those titles worthy of a page? What will be written on each one?

We could write a description of each item, what it is normally used for, what we think it's purpose is on the Ecto-1 or 1A . As well as placement, measurements for each (where available), and where they can be obtained. Some pages would be very short, but then again any organized information is better than no information at all.
