Knowing there are at least 2 of us on this board with Ecto-Magnums, and that thanks to pics of the car from Missouri at least 3 exist, one thing none of us have done (yet) is add fins to our rides.

Well a friend of mine went to the Syracuse Nationals and sent me these pics of an "in progress" retro-rod magnum conversion. The guys goal is to make it similar to a wagon version of the 1959 Chrysler Imperial. But for the rear bumper he's using some caddy parts. IMO it looks pretty damned good, but I was curious as to what you guys thought.

and here's the concept art.

I think it looks pretty cool.

It would be a good car to get a base off of.

WOW

From the side it looks like it would make an awesome batman-esk ride if it was painted all black.

That's amazing, and I agree with UltimateGBfan, it caught me off guard too.

As I understand it the rear hatch handle, like the door handles will be shaved but the rear is looking good so far, if they continue on this path the fabrication is gonna be SICK!

you know, the concept drawings sorta look like one of the times Ecto-1 got possessed in the cartoon.

overall I like the concept, but for an ecto, I think a smoother back end of the fin would be better... as is, it sorta looks like the car Batgirl would drive if she was a soccer mom.

Umm the 1960 fins are horriable one it... Yes the 59 caddy fins were the best but I can think of other fins then a 60 to place on her.. Hell a 58 Plymouth would look alot better.

I love it, but I've always been a fin person. I've always wanted a Thunderbird convertible with fins; the fins and the soft top, hopefully leather interior *drool*

Anyway if they started making this car for real, I'd sell my car and scooter and buy it. I think to many cars are getting to look more and more like the cardboard box cars I made when I was a kid; you know where you drew wheels on a toy box and sat it in.

What the... ?

Looks cool! But I don't think I will go that far even if I have the money to do it.

I saw one car that used a new Dodge Charger and they completely took the body off and replace it with a older Dodge Charger body on it.

I find it incredibly ugly. I love vintage cars and big fins but kind of like them to stay on vintage cars, just me though. We have a bunch of old vehicles my dad works on so I guess I'm just used to being around old school stuff. Hell my first car was a 68 impala, so when all my friends were driving their 2000s model i was crusin in the 68. hah I love that old thing.

I think it looks interesting, but maybe not for an Ecto. I think the curve of the fins ruins the elegance of the 300's hard edges with subtle curves. It would make a great Batmobile though.

Those aren't the specific style of fins that I love, but I will refrain from judgment until it is done.

If you mean the paint, I agree....but the body lines, not so much.

The rear is phenominal but I absolutely hate the front. The work is magnificent but the headlights for me don't fit with the feel of the car. Hate the paint but I can't hate on the talent that went into the car.

It might look better without the stock Magnum wheels.

It's great right up to the waistline. Above that, it's just another boring-as-shit car :(
