Quote:
SIGOURNEY WEAVER is having second thoughts about reprising her role in the forthcoming GHOSTBUSTERS sequel - after learning all her castmates are planning to return to the franchise for a third movie.

Initial reports suggested the actress would be joining former co-stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in a spooky new movie, 20 years after Ghostbusters II - but Weaver insisted she wasn't part of the project.

The new film will reportedly show original Ghostbusters handing over control of their spook-chasing responsibilities to a team of hot young ladies.

And Weaver now admits she will consider returning to the franchise, if she likes the follow-up.

She says, "I haven't read the script but you know, why not? I don't know any details actually but I'm looking forward to reading it. It'll be fun."

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson will all be returning for the sequel, which will be directed by Ghostbusters filmmaker Ivan Reitman.

It'll be the first Ghostbusters film to hit screens in 21 years.

It is the British tabloids, dear. They exaggerate a tad more than the US.

First of all, I moved this to the Ghostbusters 3 forum - where it belonged from the start.

Second, it is generally considered bad form to post a direct copy and paste to a news article without some sort of commentary on it.

error i just dont think she should be the focus of the third movie like she was in the other 2. thats all, if she is in it have it be a minor role. this movie needs to go in another direction not having dana be the center of the story.

oh yea i never seen the movies i read the novels

Aykroyd did say that the game was really the third movie, so it would be hard to explain what happened to Dana that Peter explored the relationship with Dr. Selwyn. Also, everyone was referring to her in the past tense. So if she decides not to do it, I'd survive.

I also find it a tad, I guess disloyal, that she was all, "Oh no, no. I'm not going to do it." Then the game took off and the DVD/Blu Ray sales spiked, and now she's interested. WTF? It's quite obvious she is only looking out for number one. I'm not saying I don't want her there as this is not my movie to make. But again, no tears here if she's not there. Why not bring back Ilysa? Then Peter will still have his love interest.

Well, if Oscar is coming back "as a ghostbuster" then it would only make sense that Dana would at least make an appearance. I would say it would be even more fun if Dana and Ilysa were in the film for some tension. Awkward!! lol But then again, there is a large time gap between the game and GBlll so Ilysa could have been just a fling... He did just walk away from her in the end ya know.

Dude, I'd date someone that age. There is a lot to be said for someone experienced.

I mean, if you were going to walk into a house possessed by ghosts, who would you rather take with you? The four experienced GBs...or the newbies?

Just sayin'....

Seriously... If they thought of a complete gender switch on ghostbusters that would certainly change the fan base a lot..

Not to mention, having all female GBs is no better than all male.

The fact of the matter is the number of male fans outnumbers the female fan base like three of four to one. I don't agree with not having any women, or casting a woman because she has hawt bewbs (rolls eyes), but you do need to take care of those that brought you to the dance. At max, two female GBs, but in all honesty, just one is probably ideal.

I honestly think haveing a female Ghostbuster would work out just fine. I mean look at EGB there was a female buster in there and in my opinion she was the best one in the show!

I'd take both. That way I can have a group that's experienced and a group whose backs won't be thrown out by lifting a proton pack.

What if the new team consists of more then four characters? What's if it's like six or seven or even more people? It'd be ideal to have four of them but I think I read some where that it's more of a academy for Ghostbusting then the boys taken in so many applications and only choosing four to take over for them. I don't know if that's still the idea they are going with but if it is then i'd imagine it'd be more then four of them, most likely tons of them instead. Never really occured to me untill I actually thought about it. Personally i'd have four main cast members that seem more dedicated on a personal note with the guys then having a bunch of them running around busting ghosts across town. Thoughts? And agreed with the Kylie concept of being in the movie, she's pretty much already panned out for character study. Just ground her alittle more in some areas and you have a perfect female Ghostbuster?

I got it... instead of venkman being killed off in the first reel... kill dana off... have her appear, then die... and come back as a ghost in the very end of the film, like a silent role where she just appears, and smiles then disapears signalling after the end of the battle all is again right with the world... YAY... just fantisizing.
