1. Number or Subtitle?

For continuity, should the film just be called Ghostbusters 3 (Ghostbusters lll)? Or has too much time in your opinion passed for only a number- should there be a subtitle?

2. How about the "No Ghost" logo?

Let's face it, the first one is iconic. So let's just go with that one, right? That's what I would say, but let's consider this too. If GB3 went with the first logo, you'll have the film in the middle (GB2) as the odd one out with an individual logo. How do you feel about that? Original "No Ghost" or New "No Ghost"?

I'd vote for having the original logo on the uniforms. You're right, it'd make GB2 seem out of place, but it wouldn't make sense for a company to have a 3rd "sequel" logo.

the original logo would be fine me thinks(plus it's classic), within the movie the GB2 logo served as the "in universe" promotional logo for the half price service plan. It's safe to assume they went back to the original logo shortly after the events of the second movie.

The primary function of the GB2 logo was of course to promote the second film but within the context of the movie it did serve the purpose to advertise the return of their services with the 'twice the value' deal. Although on the cutting room floor, it's still neat to see that it makes sense.

But yeah for GB3 I would prefer the classic logo on the uniforms and at best, some kind of spiffy version of the classic logo for the promotion of the movie

"Ghostbusters III"

Classic no-ghost logo on the Firehouse sign, suits, Ecto-1 etc.

Numerical title, classic logo. It makes sense if they decide to reference the game at all (who knows) with the hints of franchising etc.

"Ghostbusters lll"

I'd go with the original logo too. I like the idea of having the GB2 logo hanging out somewhere in the firehouse.

Guess I'm the odd one! I'd say "Ghostbusters 3," and a new logo for promotion, but not shown "in-universe." I think the uniforms and all that should have the classic logo, but posters and stuff have a new logo. I also like the idea of the old GB2 sign in the firehouse.

I always like to think that the viewer was the only one that could see the 'gb2' logo. Any one in the movie would see the original logo.

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'd be happy to see Ghostbusters 3 or III or Sub Title. I do like movies though that don't follow the 1 2 3 line. And have individual names for each movie. ...Little too late for that now...but yeah.

I think they should do what they did in GB II and have no title on screen, just a logo with the no ghost holding up three fingers, but all the logos on the uniforms sign, and car should be the original.

The GBIII-fingered logo for promotional use and posters, but original GB1 logo for within the movie.

I think they should use the GB1 logo but make it look better and more up to date kinda like they did for the video game! :boogieman:

Numerical title [Ghostbusters III] and new logo for posters and promotions [outside the canon of the film itself], CLASSIC LOGO in film at all times aside from the title card...

I agree with the majority. (Therefore I don't really add to the debate, but to the vote:)

"Ghostbusters III"

I'm fine with a ghost holding up 3 fingers in the promo material, but they should only use the original logo in the movie itself. Especially since the game is to be considered canon - to go from original to 2 fingers to original, then skip to 3 fingers would be a weird transition.

And adding to what Zack said, the 2-finger logo for the second movie almost makes sense because they were also touted to be back with "twice the know-how and twice the particle power" [If I remember my old promo record correctly - yeah that's right, I said "record"]. Though personally, I think they should have stuck with the original logo throughout that film as well.

 yeah that's my standard defense for the GB2 logo LOL Whether anyone ever really accepts it. Since it was cut from the commercial in the movie. Twice the know-how, twice the particle power, twice the value(with the half price) The record that came with the cereal? That thing is awesome. You can still hear it online I think at Proton Charging. Gotta love the terribly cheesy music, the easy questions and Egon's laugh.

But uhh yeah, I'm offtopic

Nice. That's exactly what I was thinking of. I still have that record too. I never even cut it out. It came as a square piece that you could cut the record out of the middle. I never did even bother to cut it out. I did enter the contest though! (Didn't win...)

So... was it to win a meeting with the RGB voice actor Egon, or Ramis? Wonder why Ramis didn't do the voice! It was a promo for the movie, after all.

Calling it "Ghostbusters 3" would seem kind of weird after all these years, but I still think it would be better than a subtitle. New updated logo for promotional purposes, classic GBI logo in the film. Or maybe the original cast could wear the GB1 patch while the newbies wear a new patch.

Subtitle
I'm fine with a creative logo for promotion but original within the film
I also like Dan's idea of the GB2 logo in the firehouse.

It seems we are all in agreement here. I concur with everyone else.

When you consider the technology change since the last film, a new logo for film production is fine. But when it comes to the in-verse stuff (for the old AND [especially] the new) GBs, the classic logo. That logo is iconic. Even outside of the GB universe it's been ripped off and used to so much. That icon should always be on the uniforms, even if there are 50 new movies.

A new logo for the title card and promotions while keeping the original logo in film is a great idea. That takes care of the whole "GB2 sticking out" issue.

Wow. I never thought of this route. It would definately give the illusion that the first ghostbusters are wearing their original flightsuits! Even if they wouldn't fit in them today in reality. I maybe wouldn't mind the noobs wearing new logos.

I don't know about the new guys wearing new logos - then what does that leave as our options? A 3-fingered ghost patch, which would be strange in-universe (triple the knowledge! triple the proton power!), or a logo that's neither the original or a new one.... so ditch the no-ghost? What if they wore the old GB2 patches, because they were left overs?

I'm sure the ghostbusters wore a "No Ghost" logo with two fingers up in GB2 only because it was a sequal. The film is a comedy, and trying to make sense of the in-film "No ghost 2" logo with dialogue/quotes that are not in the film is just trying too hard to make sense of something that really isn't that big or thought out. The ghost had two fingers up because it was Part Two. That simple. :whatever:

the GB2 logo can be explained in cannon easily by saying, the ghost is holding up a peace sign... the three fingers would be a bit harder to explain without being tacky, so definitely have the original logo on the uniforms...

I can picture the peace sign logo being more of a company promotion saying "We're back... love and peace to all" and then they go back to their old logo...

but a GB3 logo for the title card would be awesome looking.

^^^ Let's also keep in mind they don't have to resort to "Three Fingers" to identify the film as being the third one.

"Ghostbusters Inc."
Serving as the last chapter of the first three films, and a new beginning for the next 2. (if it does well...)

That poster is really cool btw. Nothing will ever beat the classic logo, but that's still pretty creative.
