Hi everyone, I dont know if there is already a thread on this but I was wondering if its possible to start a thread on the footie, EPL, SPL, LA Liga, Seria A, Eredivise, etc.
basically who you support, what you made of your teams season, transfers, champions league, the whole thing.
I'll get the ball rolling, I support Liverpool Fc, think we had a horrible season but I have faith we can bounce back next year with decent signings.

Admittedly, I'm not sure how to approach this as the regional forums are really for discussing Ghostbusters-related activities in those areas... I'm a casual Magpies supporter, as my Mum was born and raised in Newcastle, and educated her sons to support the home team. I also root for Wycombe Wanders.

Good to know you're a lifelong Man U fan, and not just one of those obnoxious Glory Supporters.

Well considering i was five at the time and was attracted to the club because of my friend and had no idea about trophies and glory...A glory hunter isn't excactly a fitting tag Considering I learned about football after wanting to play with my friends in the school yard and picking the team my best friend supported before I even really knew anything about the sport is a far cry from someone picking a team just because they are succesful...If he had have supported any other team, chances are I would have looked into that team. Yes, my reasons for originally supporting the club are questionable....but the fact remains, I'm now a die hard red because something in the clubs roots appeals to me, and I've done my bit to knowing everything about the club I appreciate you supporting Newcastle because one of your parents is a Geordie and it has been bred into you...but over here in Belfast, there's not much to support?

I'm a Barca fan. Thrilled about new signings this summer, but mixed feelings about various people on the team.

Since I'm a girl, football is the one thing I can hate without reprocussions! I was rooting for Japan as I love Manga! On the other hand, I love F1 and am supporting both Lewis and Jenson.

Oooop's, sorry MODs, I wasnt thinking when I started it, feel free to move it. Man U fan then? that's cool, I bet your loving how my beloved club is falling apart? Been a dreadful year Thank God Benitez has left though, that man was too stubborn to manage a top class team. I think we can both agree on one thing ABAKA, get the owners out!!

I was heartbroken when Benitez got sacked...But then it occured to me that he's probably done enough damage to keep you lot quiet for another decade!!
In terms of owners. Yes definately....Be interesting to see though. So far our ownership hasn't cost us any problems on pitch (yet) Whereas your ownership seems to be a problem...But will be interesting to see just how much of the Liverpool problems were down to Bentiez who honestly is an idiot

Lol!! His time was up, he destroyed the team. We had it good the previous season but he ruined the squad by selling and not replacing, that cost him dearly. Im just happy he's gone but scared about replacements.
Yeah the Glazer family has really done a number on the club, I heard the debt is now at 1.1 billion! Scary stuff. Yeah at least it didnt really affect youre performance this year, Rooney was amazing all year. Yeah I think this next season we will see the damage that Benetiz caused. What I really dont understand about his tactic's was selling players like Alonso, Keane and Crouch and keeping players like Kuyt, Lucas and Benayoun? That pretty much sums up his managerial skill. I still dont give him credit for Istanbul 05.
Anybody watching the world cup? Just watching the opening game here as I type. Iv planned to watch every game this year, thank god for footie.

Not much of an INTL fan, especially after Thierry Henry's antics...
Alonso was his biggest mistake...Tried to get rid of him the year before...Then after he realised Alonso was one of the best players in the team, Alonso basically said **** you Rafa, I'm off!!
Still think he relies too much on Torress, a class striker but someone I think lacks the physical strength to cut it in the premier league...

I'm a Spurs fan. Just qualified for the Champions' League after many years of frustration. Next season, we will play in the European Cup for the first time in 48 years.

After today's game, I guess more people are going to take U.S. seriously.

Let's face it, we're the first ones to hype up meagre results when they go our way: Euro 2000We beat a dismal Germany side 1-0 and called it a great victory even though they were the only team that performed worse than us. We both got knocked out in the group stage. World Cup 2002We beat Argentina 1-0 thanks to a David Beckham penalty and called it revenge for the Hand of God and France 98. Didn't stop us from bottling it in the quarter finals.

Kingpin wrote: Not really, America mostly lucked out thanks to our goalie badly mucking things up. I wouldn't say that. USA were much better at retaining posession than we were, as were Algeria, Slovenia and Germany. An age old problem for English players. A lot of that is based not only from the kick and rush style of the premier league, but mainly from the way we teach our young players. An example is that we put our 11 year old players on full sized pitches. This results in a long ball game as the younger boys cannot play a pass and move style game due to the fact they aren't big ewnough to do so. Emphasis should be placed upon pass and move football. Playing the game on smaller pitches means that you have to work to find space and encourages a much more controlled game of football where htey learn how to keep posession of the ball rather than lumping it forward all the time. Also our youth coaching system need a total revamp. Centralized coaching from the FA for all youth football would improve this. Also, the media pressure to pick our so called best players then try to fit them into a system creates major problems. Pick the system you want to play then choose the players best suited to those roles. If that means a 'star' player is missed out then so be it. For example picking Gerrard to play on the left because he can do a job there to accommodate Lampard and Barry in the middle, is wrong. No other country does this. You play your players where they are most effective in a system. As for systems 4-4-2 is an outdated system now where weaknesses are exploited and we needed a more modern approach to playing. Capello got things wrong, but sacking him isn't the way forward, nor will it fix things. The FA needs a long look at the way football is run from top to bottom or we will be in the same position come every major tounament.

Anyone in the Euro region want to do me a huge favor?
I cannot find an Iker Casillas shirt anywhere on the internet or the states.
I was wondering if one of you chaps would do me a huge favour and buy one for me (I'll pay you back, of course). It can be the Spain kit or the Real Madrid one, but I'd really like to have one before he retires...or something...
