As for the kidney pad adjustment, it's very true. I use the backpack with frame and it is a back saver, so really use it to your advantage. Looks really good though Fossil, can't wait to see more!

So it's the 5th, and I have a pizza on the oventop cooling down, and behind me sits an awesome piece of scrapwood in great shape. Why is this piece of wood awesome? Because it's going to become not one, but 4 bumpers, come next Sunday. It's the right thickness for the central area of the bumper, which means I won't need to make all the layers on the plans! I'll only have to make the upper and lower "lip" layers out of MDF, and then the boxy middle area that goes behind the shock mount! This will be enough for my own pack, and the others'! As far as the thrower gunbox, I'm pondering the potential of the metal side-panels from all these old putty-colored PC husks sitting around my apartment. I know I could possibly do it from wood... but for sheer strength with thin walls, I think I'm going to try this route. I wonder how this'd go... More to come!

I reccomend you move that last bumper down a bit, cause if you cut through that knot it's just gonna pop out and leave you with 2/3 of a bumper.

JULY 11 UPDATEOk, back again-- yesterday was a pretty relaxed day, pretty easygoing. Dimitri and I worked on the bumper, bsaed on the Palm Coast Buster's plans. We used a plank of wood that was good thickness, rather than doing all the layers in the original plans. It wasn't really difficult, just time consuming. Next time we'll have to use slightly longer blades for the jigsaw as well, 'cause this was cutting it close. Anyhow, here's the bumper, in 5 unconnected parts. It'll get wood-puttied and cleaned up, then I'm going to coat this thing in primer. The ion arm was pretty simple, a couple pieces of wood with MDF on one side and on top: I will be puttying and sanding this in time as well. I was playing with the idea of a slightly different HGA, so I drilled some recessed holes in a PVC plumbing end-cap, and it came out just as I hoped! These bolts have to be glued/epoxied in place, as there's nowhere for the threads on them to dig into. The Ion arm and HGA placement: ...and here's pack progress with all new parts just sitting in place so far. There's not gonna be an update next weekend, as there's an event going on then, so stay tuned in two weeks! Thanks for looking!

July 17th UPDATESo this is turning out to be a busy weekend! Today we (Dimitri, Chris, Steve, Abby, Dana, my girlfriend and I) took a caravan to Queens to Fernando's place, where we had a barbeque and worked on my pack, as well as a trunk proton pack rackmounting system for Chris's Ecto V. Fernando has a great backyard garage which we utilized. So now, some usual work pics: So MJ's "Human Nature" came on the radio, and Fernando and I shared a moment. He busted this move. The front wall of the EDA, with sanded-down edge. It felt pretty good to get this part as seamless as I did. The main housing for the powercell. This will be permanently mounted to the mobo in time, when the lights are installed. Got the gunmount sanded down nice and round-edged, too! All this will need now is some putty and then the ribbing. The fruits of today's labor. The bumper is just held together temporarily by tape. Soon we'll be doing the puttying and sanding and filling. Keep in mind that nothing's bolted down yet; it's all just sitting in place. Tomorrow, I'm going back to the city with the guys to meet with the N.H. crew. We're gonna be hitting up the Hook & Ladder 8, and the library, not sure where else... but I'm looking forward to it! Stay tuned for more, and thank you for reading!

Hey, everything is coming together, but I was wondering, can you wash your uniform with the "hose" connector on??

You can indeed, but keep this in mind- Paint the cone-shaped central part with some kind of clearcoat after several coats of black, to ensure the paint won't wear away too fast. Minor touchups might be necessary, but it's nothing too severe. I washed mine and it was fine.

Maybe we should aim for earlier in the morning, to use more of the day? It's up to you guys.
