I just watched GBll today and I just noticed that in the credits ILM did some of the visual effects as well. I don't know if that makes this story any more valid but I thought it was interesting to know they have a history with the franchise.

Hoping I'm posting something that solidifies this rumor? Don't. Here's some repeated dribble. It's another "he said, she said" post with no real answers. But for those who like reading repeated news this is for you. lol http://movies.ign.com/articles/106/1062573p1.html

Not a fan of the gimmick that is 3D. Especially in a movie like Ghostbusters where they'll take every opportunity to have ghosts flying at the audience just to remind you it's 3D!

You guys might as well get used to the idea.. TVs are coming out in 3d this year, almost every major film release is being considered for a 3d treatment, and they are looking at reprocessing older film releases like the original Ghostbusters release in 3d as well.
It going to be a trend for the 4 or 5 years at least, I think, for better or worse.

I was just discussing this. GB3 in 3D... I'm all for it. slimer, debris falling into the theater... crossed beams right over your head, fantastic.

Don't wear em all the time? I 'm not sure, but I think 3d tvs can play nirmally or in 3d based on the content played. I know thats the only way I'd purchase one! The only 3d movie we saw in atheater this past year was Coraline, and the 3d was really excellent in it. It was used not as a gimmick, but to add dimensionality to the film.

Bill Murray once said, "If we call it Ghostbusters II we're all going to Hell!"
I say, "If they call it Ghostbusters 3D everyone is going to Hell!"

Quote: wouldnt it be cool if ghostbusters 3 was in 3D No. 3D movies give me a headache and I get nothing more than a " I think I see it in 3D " experence. Most of the time all I see is what looks like cardboard cutouts that are suppost to be 3D.

Worst thing that could happen. It's already hard enough to know that the movie is going to be filled to the brim with filthy CGI and al the things that make modern cinema crappy, the last thing we need is the latest "fad" to ruin our beloved franchise.

No, is the quick and simple answer to the original question.
A GB:3D should be reserved for the likes of a Disney Land or Universal Studios attraction. In fact I would go as far as to say that 3D in general should remain a fair ground attraction and stay away from TV/Films .. but too late.
I just don't feel comfortable with the idea that myself, friends and family all have to wear silly glasses to watch a tv show or movie. The only one I have seen is Coraline and not only did I feel a burk but the picture was horrible too.
Holograms on the other hand...

3 D is a gimmick and shoddy way of trying to make an extra buck off of a movie. We do not see any of the movies in 3D when they come out. I hope that they do not decide to sacrifice awesome visual effects and stunning photography by trying to force 3D on us. Cheap thrills is not what I am looking for in a 3rd installment of this franchise. I would rather not have the movie if that were to be the case.

I would love Ghostbusters 3 to be in 4-d (3d with effects that take place right in the theater) but I don't think i would like just plain 3d

wickedmpulse wrote: Everything is 3-D these days. I just hope it's not called "Ghostbusters 3-D" but it probably will be..... *sigh* That depends on when it's released. If it comes out when 3D is still perceived as something innovative, than it will be probably called Ghostbusters 3D, with a logo that suggests both "three dimensions" and "third installment". But if it comes out when 3D is a given and something you just expect, it will be just called Ghostbusters 3, because it would not make sense to advertise something everyone knows will be there (just like nobody now advertises movies as "WITH SOUND!" or "IN COLOR!")

Honestly. I am tiered of the 3D craze. A short 3D movie (ie Captin EO) is fine, but after a while, the glasses hurt my eyes. Not to mention that a 3D movie is $10.75 here when a normal movie is $7.00 ($4.50 during the week). I think theaters that do 3D movies need to offer the same movie in 2D as well.
JMO
Side note: I prefer the reverse 3D better. (ie Avatar) where it looks like your looking into the screen or out a window. That looks more real to me then having everything coming out of the screen at me floating in mid air in front of my face.
If they did GB3 in this style, I would watch it in 3D.
