I'll be down in Disney for Halloween this year, I was wondering if anyone can tell me who is in the area if anyone knows someone who'd be willing to rent their proton pack?

nope. there arent any prop rental places in orlando, let alone anyone that would have a proton pack on hand to rent.

You could pick up a rubies costume.

It would be cheaper than paying someone to rent one, and you don't have to worry about the thousands of dollars in damages should you break / pop it.

I absolutely agree with you that it's not a toy. I just can't fathom spending $1,500 on something I would use once.

the thing is, if you build your own you wont use it just once. halloween is forever. with your frame of mind you're in the wrong place.

are you flying? once you get down there find a walmart and buy the stuff to make a quick cheapie one, you can probably make a decent one with lights for under $50 - then if you dont want to bring it back on the plane with you, just leave it there.

I made the mistake of allowing a friend to loan me a wooden "thrown" together pack for a charity event last december. the frame holding it, didn't hold up very good, I had to reinforce the key rings with some copper wire, and I had to use electrical tape to hold the thrower and hose together.

Just make sure, if you rent or borrow someone's pack that, it's solid and holds up good. I just think this old friend of mine just didn't give a rats arse, oh and he even threw in a medium sized waded up flight suit, that he forgot to wash. Dude was a total D***.

and I just remembered, He gave me a wooden pack shell, which he said needed work. and after further reviewing said pack shell, I just left in the trailer with some other junk. It was beyond repair or any work, since it was shorter than any shell I've seen on here and the "foam" he put in it, was cracking and falling out. I was going to sell it to someone, but then I would've felt guilty for giving someone a real piece of crap, that would have caught fire if any "real" electronics were to be put inside it.

But he is right about making one. Use the info here as a guide and you will be able to build one in no time. I suggest checking out the dollar store pack.

and maybe some of his other builds he has them all in his signature box
