I remember in the late 80's and early 90's you found GB toys for 4.99-9.99. what a world....

They could have gone a different route with these but I'd still settle for these than nothing at all. Why complain, if you don't like them then don't spend your money and move on. I don't think they are the best looking ghostbusters collectibles but I would hate to pass on them. When was the last time they made Real ghostbusters figures? It's not like theres gonna be a huge variety of upcoming alternate Real ghostbusters figures(not including minimates) so why hold out on something better when this might be as good as it gets .

I was worried at first when the cases got here, cuz they looked too small to have all 16 figures that would be in two cases, but they're packed in really tight.

But why do you only get 1 Winston per case?

Not sure. I guess they figure Venkman is a more popular character, and Winston is less popular, so you get 3 Venkmans, 1 Winston, and 2 of each of the others.

Winstons resale value is going to be higher then the other 3.

He's going to have lower production numbers, but probably also lower demand. Not everyone will buy a full set, so his value may not be that much higher.

Are these the figures that will be available at Toys R Us also? I saw that AJ will get them on the store here too. I wasn't really interested in these at first but seeing them all together with the RGB suit colors and whatnot, I pretty much have to buy them now!

Yea, they're going to be at TRU, and AJ said he'd have them here as well.

Will they be at the Canadian Toys R Us locations? I want that Egon figure. Like, now.

Canada usually doesn't get anything Ghostbusters related in TRU.

If anything, he's going to have HIGHER demand because he's the one that comes with a trap. So if you want a trap, which everyone does, you have to get him.

My two cents on this line...as lovely as the figures are, Mattel have misjudged this. I don't know what thought process led to them choosing Mego-style over 6" or 12", but I think the flaw here is that they've made them a little TOO good. They've lost sight of what 'Mego style' actually entails. Mego figures were always good, but never really spot-on and never as detailed as these RGB figures.. For example, Mego's Star Trek figures....The Enterprise crew all had their gear, but moulded in turquoise plastic. No paint apps. Then the bad guys had the Starfleet gear, but in red plastic. The Gorn was a re-used Spider-Man 'Lizard' in a Klingon uniform. Mego's Batman, Robin and others had the infamous 'oven mitt' gloves. which looked stupid and were useless, instead of proper gloves or simply painting/moulding the hands in the colour of the glove (which I believe they later did on some figures).....

If these were truly 'Mego style', the uniforms would be the correct colours but they probably wouldn't have the contrasting inner colours. They'd all have a proton pack and a gun in one colour with no paint apps, and then maybe Egon would have the PKE and one of them would also have a trap. Something like the Sniffer would be extraneous (and why the Sniffer over the Ecto Goggles, Mattel??!).

No, the problem here is that Mattel have gone a bit overboard here in detailing and thus pushed the price up too high for a 'Mego style' figure, though I guess they figure every GB fan will happily shell out for a full set, which is probably true. The most I've ever seen 'Mego style' figures go for in a shop is £16.99. If they wanted to go as detailed as they have done, they'd have been better off with a sculpted 6" line or a 12" line.

Is your post sarcastic, or are you serious? That's the absolute biggest downside of the internet, really difficult to get across the subtlety of human communication.

Really thought we had hit the height of complaining... but complaining about the figures being too nice for Mego style... that's just ridiculous.

I don't 100% agree with Dr_Rob_Cassidy I do think Matty is being a little selfish here. Go to http://www.classictvtoys.com to see how much Mego style toys can cost compared to what matty is charging. I'm glad they are bringing us these toys but the price tag, I feel, is almost based solely on the "Mego" name and not on the product itself.

I think perhaps my post was misinterpreted. I was not complaining about the amount of detail per se, I was merely trying to make the point that if they had done them to proper 'Mego style' and not done as much detail, the price tag would more accurately reflect how much you would expect to pay for a 'Mego style' figure. As I said, these things look fantastic, but a 6" or 12" hyper detailed line would have too, and their price tags would have probably more accurately reflected what they actually are.

1) I have no clue what "proper" Mego style is or why that matters.

2) These are being proper to The Real Ghostbusters, which to me does matter. After all these aren't a tribute to Mego, and they never claim to be Mego accurate. So that is, in a nutshell, pretty much irrelevant for me. Then again I'm a fan of Ghostbusters, not accurate Mego. But to each their own.



Head is $3, 8" body is $3, boots are $2... that's $8 already. Add in the cost of clothing, proton pack, accessories, packaging, sculptor labor, hell all labor in general... where does $20 for all that fall out of line with reality?

So what should the price be? Minus the fact that proton packs are a lot more detail than rectangular boxes, and the accuracy of the face sculpts required instead of a generic 'everyperson' face being allowed. What should the fair market value of these be? $20 for all 4?
