(To potential flamers: Yes I used the search function)

I'm not sure if anyone remembers the HORRIBLE early 90's movie "Suburban Commando." Which features an intergalactic Hulk Hogan opposite the consumate common family-man Christopher Lloyd. From what I remember, the movie was bad.

But I remember watching this, and during the movie at one point, one of these antagonist space dudes whips out a frickin' PKE meter (somehow bastardized into a type of intergalactic tracking device) for some stupid item that was central to the plot.

My 7 year old ass was offended as hell. I thought, "That is a GHOSTBUSTERS tool! NOT some cheap ass Hulk Hogan movie prop" I looked some more stuff up, and apparently Columbia Pictures had recycled the same prop in a number of different weak-ass sci-fi oriented flicks in the 90's. But, I also noticed no one on this board ever mentioning it once, even with all the new attention PKE's have been getting with Matty's release.

I'm fairly sure it gets mentioned as not being mentioned every month or so.

Am I the only one who feels like the search doesn't work as well as it should?

When I use the search box found at the top of the page, like ProtonCharger suggests:

After searching for suburban commando, I get this:

A single result, linking back to this page.

I find it's better to click on this search icon:

And then enter your search terms in the handy Google Custom Search box.

This will produce entirely different (and much better) results. :)

Did you use the SEARCH at the top of THIS page - or at the top of the forum page?

If you used the one at the top of THIS page (thread) it will return the results of a search of THIS page (thread).
If you use the one at the top of THIS page - it will return the results after searching ALL threads.

correct,

illustrates your board log in page. that is the OVERALL search for the site i have circled. strangely enough it finds whatever in an open thread. i tend to do my searches from my log in page anyway and i usually find what im looking for using the one i illustrated, and if i couldnt i use the other one.

honestly, i wish the was just one single search function, but im not entirely sure how that could be done.

I actually just thought of something that makes no sense....

....why would you search for Suburban Commando in a thread talking about it?

Thats the point.

You use the search function to make sure your topic doesn't already exist. I know for a fact that Suburban Commando has been talked about before.

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=20042&p=228806&hilit=Suburban+Commando#p228806

viewtopic.php?f=37&t=16578&hilit=Suburban+Commando

viewtopic.php?f=37&t=408&hilit=Suburban+Commando

It takes just seconds to find a thread, instead of waiting for replies on your thread.

true. true. lmfao i was reading this thread yesterday and flippin' channels and guess what was on the old tube? hell of a coinc.
have to admit although it make sense for other properties to "recycle" props utilized in others it still seems sacriligous to an extent. maybe im biased with my love of GB...

Yeah they also ripped it off of They Live Too, but that movie was way better than Suburban Commando

The only thing in "They Live" is that the pattern of the wing lights is DRASTICALLY different than the ones we know and love. Instead of its faux-randomized lighting, the lights chase from the inside out in "They Live." Does this mean there was at one point more than one PKE? Were there possibly three in total? I read from CylandProps that there were two of them, and you can see both being used in GB1, showing both the GB1 and GB2 light patterns at times. If that's true, than this could mean there's a third out there, or at least was at one point.

It also means that the Matty Collector PKE is not an accurate "They Live" film replica. I know how many of you really just wanted it for that.
