And I definitely disagree on this being "art". But then again, over the last 10 years or so, the meaning of the word "art" has definitely been skewed by everyone thinking art is about perception and that if you call something art, it instantly is. It creative, but this thing is not art, not in my mind at least.

soooo... what you're saying is that art is all about perception?

I collect everything that is designed by Shunya Yamashita and I don't fall into the 'can't get a girl' stereotype. That mentality is quite frankly insulting and very close minded.

Again, I did not say it is my mentality. I said that it will further that mentality of those who have it.

And no, I'm not saying art is all about perception. I'm saying that that is what is now being pushed so that everyone can claim to be an artist by doing anything they want. I just took a big dump, but it looked kind of like Joe Pesci. Am I now an artist for sculpting that? No. No, I am not.

Art *IS* all about perception, they teach that in Art 101. And the perception has changed in more than the past 10 years. In the 50s they didn't think Jackson Pollacks paint splatters to be art. Picasso definitely was not well received. And look at Van Gogh.

I like statues of things like this. A ripped outfit girl in a GB costume? Love it. If it was a statue of Hicks from Aliens in a cool pose? Love it. I'm a geek, a proud geek. I would be enthused if instead of this it was a realistic statue of Venkman or Stantz. I would be just as enthused if it was a anime or cartooney looking GB statue of one of the male characters. It is more the subject matter than the medium (scantily clad girl) that I enjoy. It being a hot chick is just icing on the cake.

We're just not going to agree on this, so there's no point in discussing that.

I agree with this. I would be interested in a realistic statue of a Ghostbuster. A scantily clad chick who has nothing to do with the franchise just reaks of capitalizing on the "near nude boner inspiring" garbage. This girl has never appeared in Ghostbusters and has nothing to do with it. The artist seems to like just slapping a comic hero's uniform on a near nude "hot chick" and people buy it up. Its insulting to me, but to each their own.

As costumers, none of us can afford to be thin skinned. I get weird looks while in costume (no matter the costume) if I am wearing it someplace other than inside a convention or at a costume party. It happens. People see it, go "what a geek" and move on. Am I offended when female members of this board wear scant GB costumes? Not in the least. If a guy wanted to do a "Lt Dangel" equivalent of a male GB would I be offended and worry what other people think? Nope. As you say, to each their own.

This hobby is geeky enough already and one statue isn't going to make people see us as any cooler or any geekier.

But yes you are.

As soon as you define something as being or not being art based on personal taste, you are making a subjective decision based on your perception of what art is.

Either way, just wanted to point that out. I'm not really interested in having a debate over what art is or isn't as we will never agree on a subjective matter.

Glad I could entertain you.

It was said before you even tried to make a stink about me bringing up the reality that this will probably further a negative stereotype. You didn't like what I said, so you jumped on me as if it was my opinion. Here, and on GBN.

Let it go dude. We don't agree. That's fine. Stop hounding me about it already.

Borat swimsuit Gb?

I'm not an art critic for a living but I chose my own art. I'm one of those people who would love to see the Government get out of paying artists to produce art AKA The National Endowment For The Arts. If an artist can't make a living selling art then he should look for another means to make money.

That being said I like this art piece. It's not one of those gaud awfull Applause vinyl statues that are always being passed off as art. You know the type, with the lips look like a swipe of paint and the eyes that are just a black glob swimming in a non distinct puddle of white.

Yeah, I don't see it ending anytime soon, and good for that.

I don't think the art, or in this case the figure, is the thing that will "just further the "nerd" stereotype about not being able to get girls". Your extremely narrow mind, is what's helping further a stupid stereotype.

I find it interesting that majority majority of guys who call others "nerds", "virgin" and "can't get a girl", are usually somewhat obsessed with activities which consists of a bunch of sweaty muscular guys in either spandex or tiny speedos, jumping or grabbing each other. (i.e. football, wrestling, UFC, boxing...)

I mean, seriously.
Guy interested in a sculpture of a sexy girl, VS Guy interested in muscular guys wrestling each other..
You be the judge.

I find it interesting that a lot of guys who call others "nerd", "virgin", etc are members of a scifi club for dressing up like a Trilogy of movies from the 70s-80s and they call other members of the same group and a sister group those names... :walterpeck:

I really love how many people can't comprehend that its not my viewpoint, just that I think it will further that viewpoint for those who already have it, despite me having said that so many times.

Do you people just not read, or as soon as you read something that you find mildly offensive do you stop mid-sentence and just jump on someone as if they were attacking you?

Nice looking figure. I'm not into collecting Bishoujo figures but that looks very nice.

And people who start to make profound conclusions about not having a girlfriend when we're talking about one damn figure may have some problems.

I'd consider it "Art" if she didn't look exactly like every other Japanese anime girl. It's not art. It's a xerox.

The sketches did look nice but this looks like does statues you'd find at the dollar store. I'm not to crazy about the paint job which are the wrong colors. I thought the sketch showed a Khaki suit w/ gray elbow pads & belt? It also had the black & red name tag, she doesn't even have to "no ghost" patch? Apart from the hose being attached at the top of the pack, the front barrel to the gun is too long.

As of now this isn't something I'd pick up, but if the change the colors to what the sketch looks like; I may just change my mind.

the gun hose goes into the top of the pack, like the one in Zombieland lol

if I get one of these Im going to have to paint the belt and elbow pads grey, probably paint the thong black, and some other minor touchups. not sure why the hose is in the wrong spot...

BLUE elbow pads and belt??!? That must be a mistake.

And now that I see it painted, there is definitely too much skin. I think they could have done without the ripped pants altogether.

But there is a high chance of me fapping to those pics later.

I'm a boobs man myself, so I actually would've preferred regular pants (keep the cleavage and exposed stomach though), maybe that way they could've gone with an accurately placed gun cord instead of moving it so you can look at her butt.
