Hey guys, I'm just finishing up a build tutorial for the trap pedal I've been working on and I'll be putting it up in the tutorials section shortly, so watch for it. I have a couple of questions though...

How many of you have actually built a trap pedal?

and

How many of you actually carry one when in uniform?

I think this is probably one of the simpler and cheaper props to build and I wonder why it doesn't have it's own topic in the reference section.

I built one with my trap and I wear it when I am in uniform. The only problem I have is keeping it from falling off of the trap handle.. And when it doesn't break off it scratches the heck out of my trap.

I carry a trap pedal with me but have it attached to my belt off to the side. It keeps from scratching the hell out of my trap and just looks better IMO.

I have fitted a clip to the underside of my pedal and have it clipped to the strap on my my trap holster. Find this way it doesn't put any stress on the ribbon cable, doesn't scratch anything either

Well, you know I'm building one...;). I'm about 80% done with it now.

I have one! But I haven't costumed yet, so there. ;)

But I don't think I would carry it with me. It's almost all metal, as is my trap. I would need one heck of a belt, and I would walk funny at the end of the day to say the least. :P

But yeah, I don't get the lack of love for the pedal. It's a really interesting little prop, reeeal easy to build compared to the pack or the trap. More pedals please! :D

Dude! Suit up!

How are you gonna open the trap without the pedal? ;)

I know!!!

Seriously, I was talking about both of them. My trap is actually heavier than my metal thrower. With the pedal, it would tear through any belt know to man.

Except maybe for BlkMesaHero's. :P

Aluminum trap? Mine is resin with aluminum plating but I'm still carrying it. Do you really think it would tear your belt? Those pistol belts were made to carry a lot—at least some of them were.

yup, by the cable. Colin does an awesome job, everything was secure. the only thing i did was take the cable off and glue in the connectors to guarantee it wouldn't ever come apart. hasn't failed me yet, and people still instantly recognize the trap, and think its even cooler that i have the pedal and hose.

Yeah, he sold me a kit that I'm currently working on—trap and pedal. I'm doing a few mods to it all to make it functional. Should be a cool build.

i went the route and bought the finished props. after spending a year on my pack, i didn't have the time to build anything else from scratch. i modded the trap, added a high freq LED strobe and some static while LEDs inside so it looks sweet when the doors are open. good luck to ya!

Great Idea! could you post a pic of it? I've been trying to figure this out for my pedal.

If I'm wearing a pack, it goes on the belt on the opposite side of the trap,,, if not, it goes around the handle of the trap to chill.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YpjvVkD3_A about 23 seconds in, I don't have any pics I'm afraid. Its a clip from a tape measurer, just screwed it in the base. Slides easily onto the strap and doesn't slide off or around on the strap.

You can't operate a trap without a pedal:

Thank's. I modeled it off of the PH DC trap which was a redress of a GB1 background trap so I basically just extracted the GB2 parts and made it back into a GB1 Trap.

Thanks for the video, it's going to save my ribbon alot of wear and tear. I have to reattach several times already.

Really? I just bolted my ribbon cable down on both ends and it doesn't have a problem.

Cyland... nice pedal. You seem to have a very accurate looking pedal.

Parksdesign and I were having a discussion on how the GB1 pedal looks and your looks dead on.

Is that a black d-sub and what kind of ribbon is that? I know it's different from GB2 pedal

Hey guys, I split the pedal parts discussion off into this thread: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25178. It's was technically off topic but has some great info and will now be easier to find in a forum search for anyone in the future.

Sure do have one...
It actually was one of the easiest pieces to build, I even managed to score the hammond boxes and the sub-D housing from store self.. It does bang against the trap when placed over it, and I am thinking of making a strap for it in order to secure it to the trap and belt..
