So, my Vinz Clorthos finally came today, and I got to work on some head changes.....

Image
Image

That's a shaved down head, with new resculpted hair. Painted deep brown, dry brushed with light brown. The body is a combo of Peter and Rays, with shorter height and added decals (GB 2 arm patch, Spengler nametag). I also threw a kidney strap on to help off-set the size. Then I started on the earmuffs....

Here's what I did with the rest from Mattel....
Image

Oh, it's you!
Image
Ok...but I didn't know you had your license.

And then the final product....

Image
Image

And that's that. I'll take some better pics tomorrow, I was just really happy with the way it turned out so I couldn't wait to share and get some feedback.

I was planning on making this custom once I get a spare Spengler actually. I've never made customs, but over on Matty I saw someone did it pretty easily by popping the head and feet off Egon, shortening the feet and popping on Louis' spare head.

But I'm curious what you did to achieve that hair style, and how you changed the arm logo?

Also, were those earmuffs from some other figure or did you make them?

Job well done. I too would be interested in how you did the hair.

And the custom package is simply oustanding.

great work! i have to make one and with the extra head (and we all have extra gbs sitting around) its like a free figure. i personally like the other head on the vinz body anyway.

and i know its already been asked but how did you make the ears muffs and slimers hat (or did you get them from other figures)??

the figure looks a little beefy for how short he is (unavoidable though), especially in the pic taken from the side.

but this is awesome!!!
:crunch:

if this was a real Matty, Id be a little disappointed with another slimer, I have more slimers than needed.

Thanks for all the positive feedback and delicious Crunches everyone!

To answer some of the questions - the kidney strap, hair, earmuffs and Slimer hat are all sculpted. I cut and dremeled Louis' head down until he was bald ( should've taken pics). Then I sculpted all new hair one, slowly texturing the layers. After the hair was totally done, I sculpted on the earmuffs, baked them, textured and then painted them. Slimer's hat is kind of a cheat though, it's basically the same dimensions as the Titanic Ghost miniMate hat! I had a couple of extra Slimer's laying around from my box-sets I made, so I thought "Why not?". Plus there's a space for him in the package. The Spengler tag and GB2 logo are printed out decals.

JayTigran - nice catch! I originally had that worded a little differently, then removed it, then went with just "Dana and Janine". It took a little while to figure out exactly what to put on the back of that box.

Thanks again guys! Here's a slightly better pic of the boxed version:

I plan on popping of an Egon head and replacing it with the extra Louis head, and shortening the boots. But I'm not sure if I have the skill to do the new hair and earmuffs.
I've never made a custom. I could probably do it with pointers. If you ever wanted to post more tips, I would greatly appreciate it and be thrilled about stepping into the custom game.

What did you use to sculpt the hair and earmuffs? Where do you buy it? Also, what kind of tool did you use to file down the original hair?
