First off, I've looked around at the various makers: Proptronix, Exoray, Replica Props, etc. Every one of these makers is going to have their adherents and detractors, I think. That said, I'm well aware that lights & sound kits are done on a very small scale and there exists the real potential for incompatibility between them, not to mention that these kits are made by hobbyists who have real lives and thus cannot devote their full time to development.

To my knowledge (and if I'm wrong, please correct me) there's no single complete kit from any one maker that covers the cyclotron, power cell, gun lights, and sound for a proton pack. Many of us know about the Arduino-based work-in-progress that certainly seems promising as an all-in-one project, but it remains in the prototype phase.

Let's say I'm ready to get my pack fully outfitted for light and sound. I will learn to solder if need be; I have an iron and a mentor to teach me.

Whose kits should I pursue? Whose kits are in stock right now, for swift delivery in the US? Those of you with full lights and sound in your packs--what combos are you using?

To be honest with you, I'm pretty sure no one currently has light kits in stock to ship immediately. Proptronix is on hiatus; R2DEVO's current run is full but will have a new run in the spring; Exoray doesn't even have a thread anymore for his lights so I have no idea if he's still offering them and if so, if he has any currently available; and hyperdyne has been out of stock for a while now.

As for a sound solution to go with a light kit, hyperdyne, exoray, and proptronix have some sort of sound kit to go with their kits. There's also the DIY tutorial using replica props sound chip that many people have had luck with, with many different light kits.

So that's the current state of electronics within the community.

I ordered a full kit from exoray a couple weeks ago - wand lights, pack lights, and sound.

He makes them by hand, not to mention his new sound kit is brand new, so it takes a few weeks, but I have very high hopes. I'll let everyone know how it comes out as soon as i receive it, hopefully within the next week.

That's the only full, complete solution that I know of available currently. The only major downside is that it ain't cheap - be ready to shell out around $350 for the full package.

Your options:

Gun: Exoray, Hyperdyne Labs, Proptronix, R2DEVO

I own both the Proptronix and R2Devo gun lights. Both are very good. I prefer R2DEVO's detached light bar. It will make things easier. The proptronix circuit sticks out the bottom of the gun. I don't know if Hyperdyne makes them anymore, and Exoray doesn't have a listing for them.

Pack: Exoray, Hyperdyne Labs, Proptronix, R2DEVO & Jupiter Electronics?

I have owned Hyperdyne Labs pack lights (both versions), Proptronix and R2Devo. I prefer the tiny tiny size of the Proptronix and R2DEVO lights. For the price I think R2DEVO might edge out Proptronix. I have also heard about Jupiter Electronics, but know nothing about them.

Sounds: Exoray, Hyperdyne Labs, Proptronix/ReplicaProps, DIY/ReplicaProps & GBFans.com

I don't know if Hyperdyne sells his sound kit anymore. It was something like $500 for a kit. Exoray just came out with a new kit, its plug and play with his light kits. Proptronix has an adapter board for a replica props chip that interfaces with their light setup. GBFans.com (me) is working on a sound kit that will be made to interface with any light kit and is currently aimed at being the cheapest sound kit available.

I think that sums it up. Please let me know if I'm forgetting someone. These the guys I can remember off the top of my head.

Hyperdyne's website lists all of their gun light kits as "temporarily out of stock".

I picked up a set of Jupiter pack lights and I am happy with them. you can set the speed of the lights and easily swap out the cyclotron leds for bulbs.

viewtopic.php?f=32&t=22602

These kits are usually in stock. The gun kit is only a light bargraph, no barrel or stationary gun lights.

$79 pack $39 gun bar graph

I got my pack lights off JT94. His kit does the power cell light and the cyclotron lights. You will need blue and red acrylic lenses for the pack as the LEDs are white/clear paid £50 for them. He sells them on here and on ebay.

Jupiter electronics is about to release a full pack and gun light kit.

I just purchased one of the pre-release models from Christian and am waiting for it to arrive.

I'll let you know how it is.

Hyperdyne labs is my recommendation. For the price, you get high quality and durability. I have had the opportunity to have quite a few customizations done to my kits from Jim at very little if any extra charges. The only down part is that the amplifier is quite bulky and figuring out where to put the speakers is always a challenge,

R2DEVO's gun and pack kit is bad ass and easy to install. Great communication whenever I had some dumbass question, same with Replicaprops.

A++++ Would buy again.

It looks like hyperdyne labs will be back in business soon. I just got an email from them and I will be placing my order in a week or so. My total for the lights and sound package with my customization requirements will come out to around $625 shipped. Hyperdyne can pretty much do anything you want. And the volume on the pack does get very loud if you want it to.

With that kind of price tag I expect a release. I do want the sound module for the MT500 though.

I believe Zombieamusements is putting out some light kits off of Ebay. I don't know if they have gun kits but they DO have pack kits and light bars for throwers as well as trap light kits.

I've only used their accessories for traps, but I've loved everything I bought from them. Shipping was quick and parts were inexpensive.

Anybody use some Zombie lighting options out there?

One of our new members is considering buying a pack with the Zombie Amusements pack lights so I hope to see those in action soon.

I ordered the pack lights from him about 3 days ago, should hopefully ship today or tomorrow according to his auction text. I've noticed that communications from him aren't that great since I was considering buying some other items but he hasn't gotten back to me on them.

Trying to figure out what gun lights and sound to go with that are available currently. Trying to get my build done before Megacon in mid-March.

I wish Replicaprops would release their sd card soundboard, seems like a nice all-in-one sound option since it has the amp built in.

Full lighting kit from Jupiter Electronics for $148.75, this includes pack and proton gun lights.

Very nice lights. I bought the pack lights and now the gun kit.

The proton gun lights now have two display modes and it has all the static lights as well as flashing barrel lights when fired.

These are in stock and ready to ship. You can check out the videos of them in action by clicking the Detailed Description tab.

I ordered the wand kit from Jupiter. It consists of 3 LEDS and the bar light. NO light by the palm rest, NO orange ear light.

Jupiter Electronics' site shows that they have the full pack and wand light kit in stock, and there's at least one listing for that exact kit on eBay.

I would strongly recommend against Hyperdyne Labs.

Overpriced and outdated.

I purchased a pack light kit from jupiterstore.com... They seem good to me, but then again, I'm pretty new at this. I'd love to find an inexpensive sound kit. Haven't managed to locate one yet. Could this be added later?

The pack and gun light kits from jupiter are really good for the price. The only inaccuracy I see on them is that in the movies the vent light doesn't flicker. I'm saving to get a gunlight kit from jupiter, too(only gun bc I've found a cheaper way to make the pack lights from LED chasers)
You can always add sound later, but you'll have to exchange the switches if you want to operate them with the same switches you start the light.

Like I said, I bought the Jupiter gun kit, and it's missing 2 lights, the front light by the palm rest and the gun ear light. Its not accurate.

That totally depends on what pack you're building.

Stunt packs only had the slo-blo lit. The only time the white hat light next to the clippard is seen lit in GB1 is the close up shot of the hero thrower during the roof top scene. That is also the only time the yellow bargraph is seen moving in GB1. The orange gun ear hat lights are only seen lit in the ballroom and on the rooftop. I have yet to go through GB2 so I don't know what if any differences there may be in that movie.

As I said, accuracy totally depends on what version of the pack you're trying to replicate.

So its accurate if you ignore the lights we know are there because we don't have screen caps of them being used in both movies. Understood.
