thabooglio, you never have anything useful to contribute. Somehow you don't really notice the way you're ignored after most everything you say around here. Some have a longer learning curve than most.
Raystantz Italy, thanks for the input from Sony. Yeah, we probably shouldn't bother them about this. A good part of the trust we have with their community comes from good relations, and good relations sometimes means being selective about when/why we contact them.
If anything his statement seems to indicate to me that Sony's determined to make this movie whether the 4th rightsholder ( Murray ) signs off on it or not. My guess is he won't sign off, it will get made anyways, and Murray's money comes through the lawsuit he files against Sony, not through actually appearing in any GB3 movie.

You mean kinda like EVERY SINGLE RUMOR YOU'VE POSTED SO FAR???

thabooglio....
1) You PM'd me about an issue.
2) I PM'd you back saying I keep all these discussions in the open for transparency. If you got a beef with me, make it public on the thread you're talking about.
3) ....and then you PM'd me back to keep it going but claimed it was an olive branch.
Man, you just don't get it. Put it out here for everyone to see and rest assured I'll respond to it. You're trying to convince me you're not an idiot but then you do this. Go figure.

actually taking it to a pm and keeping it a pm is the best way to do it. you saw how devilmanozzy was treated after he publicly posted a pm i sent to him for derailing a thread that was completely not about him and his poor artistic "skill" and his social retardation.

Ok, here it is out for everyone to see a disagreement between two people that NO ONE ELSE IS INVOLVED IN! 1. You came in out of nowhere in a thread that was (let's face it) kinda goofy, and decided to insult me. My mistake for thinking that in order to be here I had to contribute. I must have missed that when I created my account. 2. I took it to you in a PM. Why? Well, if I have to restate myself it was because what ever beef you have with me is nobody's business but yours and mine. 3. You responded in an oddly cryptic way. I deleted it, but I bet you still have it. Go ahead and show everyone a PM that wasn't intended for them.4. I tried to explain myself further. Since you responded to my PRIVATE MESSAGE in PRIVATE, I naturally thought you would do the same. MY MISTAKE. 5. Instead of talking it out, you bring it here and drag me through the mud. Nice job you did. And of course, I'm the idiot. Take in mind that I didn't fire the first shot, that was all you. I didn't want to have a problem with anyone here. I wanted to at least try to make amends. Thanks for shooting that down here too. There. All out in the open! Happy? And to anyone else who wasn't part of this conversation; I have been a member for about two years and I have only felt welcome by everyone here. And if I have offended you in any way (You know besides rearing my ugly mug) just let me know.

Here's my view on the whole Bill thing: He looks at Ghostbusters as a classic. He did the sequel because he wanted to make another classic, but it turned out to be the same thing and he felt the franchise was tainted a little. Now that he's older, he's been doing a lot of art films and dramas. He probably looks at GB3 as a "cash-in" for the studios and doesn't believe it's "pure." Therefore, he's not sure if he wants to do it because it might come out as GB2. It still pisses me off though. Just do it Bill.

Dude, check your forum etiquette there - what's said in a PM stays in a PM. No one wants to read your nonsense argument - keep it private.

I read in an interview with Bill or at least an artical about Bill that at the time after Ghostbusters he was feeling a bit over exposed and wanted to tone it back a little. I got the impression that he suffers from depression or some sort of anxiety which would explain his mood swings.

Ghostbusters 3 isn't going to happen because the architect was destroyed in GB 2.5 The world is safe from evil ghosts.

He only did the movie to get "the Razor's Edge" greenlit. When that movie bombed, he took a four year sabbatical, came back, did Ghostbusters II, and that underperformed compared to the first movie. With Billy, you can never tell if he really loves the franchise or whether he's just toying with people.

While I'm not directly involved with hollywood and I'm nothing more than a fan like the rest of you I have to say that while I love the idea of a Ghostbusters 3 if it were made I don't see it helping the franchise as we know.
I have 2 different theories due to the fact that I don't fully understand Murray's contract. Is it that ANY gb sequel will need his approval to be made or that only GB 3 hangs on him.
If it is is former then I see GB 3 just being a movie that makes us want a 4th seeing as it will create new heroes to root for (this is being the most positive if the movie is good) but then having to wait for a 4th because of Murray yet again.
The second is that they make the 3rd, do it half assed because really the only reason they want to make it is to get it out of Murray's control, then they will just reboot the series 2-3 years later with an all new cast, new concept and it will be more supernatural action and less comedy.
I mean this is Sony, a company that rebooted Spiderman after less than 10 years.

For a dude that hates sequals and everyone thinks he doesn't want to do the new one....He did do the video game...right.
Im pretty sure if they do a GB3 he'll be involved.
