Hey,

I don't think any serious discussion about this matter has taken place. It may not have any effect, but I think being part of this site should obligate us to petition Sony for a third flick in any form. I think the land is fertile, esp. since I think Indy 4 is going to beat Titanic in the box office. I suggest we work on a letter and those interested each work on getting signatures. We put them all together and send it out. Imagine if we could get a few thousand people to ask Sony for a movie?

If not GB3, then at least we can do one for a decent dvd set. Let me know what you think. I think this issue is divisive because there are those out there who really don't want to see a film..

there has been a petition before...it lasted aout 3 or 4 years i think....the server shut down the site by accident i think...but all of the sigs werent lost as far as i know...i cant remember who started it though.....it obviously didnt work but it was a good idea....i would do a petition mainly for a decent DVD set and a complete set of the cartoons.....but for a 3rd movie it jsut wouldnt really be worth the hassle

I didn't know that...

Yeah, I just feel like there are more than us than even we could imagine, and sometimes the key to getting what you want means strength in numbers.

My suggestion would be a petition to get Sony to give the franchise rights to someone who knows what to do with them. If a 3rd film happened Sony should get f**k all. I'm a afraid it's too little too late! Aykroyd, Ramis and Reitman should have had the rights to do as they please years ago. In a perfect world this would be the case i'm sure. For now, bring on BraxtanFilms Return of the Ghostbusters, it's all we need!

Won't happen.I'm not trying to discourage you.

I've been on the GB forums since about 1998.I've seen enough GB3 or RGB DVD petitions to float a boat on.They didn't work back then and sadly they won't work now.We see what we got from Sony on the DVD front,an OK Two Pack DVD set and a less than stellar RGB DVDs.

The sad fact is,that the general public doesn't give a shit about GB3(Pardon my words there AJ and Mods). It seems like enough people know the GBs,but they just don't care about a new movie.I've asked random people when I've been in my GB jumpsuit for an event or when I'm wearing my GB shirt, about what they would want to see with a GB3 and noone seemed to be interested.

Unless Sony wisens up,we won't ever see a new GB movie.

Well then some would say they ARE being wise if they know public support doesn't care and they are witholding for that reason because I am sure they want a return on their investment. I am just incredibly skeptical the public at large wouldnt see a new GB film.

It has been my personal experience that most people in my generation would go googoo for a new film. Ghostbusters has had such an impact on the childhood of so many and most of my friends would love a chance to be taken back to that time. I have floated the questions around friends, not die hards by the way, and everyone said they would see it if one came out.

I think GB 2 left a bad taste in SONY's mouth and they must be afraid it would be a flop. Its possible that some poll somewhere shows most people wouldn't care about a new film, but I cannot believe that. I have said it before here; I cannot tell you the positive comments I have had doing something as simple as wearing a GB logo shirt, nevermind when I wear my pack out.

Esp, about the terrible dvds. I have seen so many infinitley less popular films marketted and given more time of day than Ghostbusters has ever been given. That GB set is so worthless it assualts reason. Waterworld has more Bonus features than two films that together made over half a billion dollars in revenue?

It really upsets me when I think about the lost opportunities SONY has had and the blatant disregard for GB fans. Before I condemn them completely, there may be other reasons why a film hasn't been made, or the dvd was not given the attention it deserved. Some have said Bill Murray was to blame. I do know that Aykroyd and Ramis have tried for years to sway Columbia and now SONY to back their project so I am pretty sure the studio is more to blame.

Recently, there has been a resurgence of past series making a comeback. Rocky Balboa, the new Star Trek Movie that's coming out, the James Bond reboot, Batman and Supeman, Indiana Jones, etc. I think now more than ever is the time GB3 would be embraced by the public. I suspect Indy 4 is going to blow straight off the charts and I am encouraged by the success of the other series as well.

Ultimately, I can only hope that SONY is sensative and keeps its ears to the ground. If most people do not want a GB3 then I am willing to accept the fact and keep on imagining what-if. Until I know for sure, we should demand SONY grant us the attention we deserve.

Joe

Well, Indy gets a push from Star Wars fans, who are legion. Older folks go because it reminds them of the old movie serials. I was at a SW site, and they are planning the next 3 Star Wars after Return of the Jedi, slated for 2024! That's crazy! My son will be in college by then! Lucas may be dead by then. Might be a rumor...Anyway, present distinguished GB fans here excluded, what's the push? There are a lot of die hards here who dread a third movie. Kevin Smith said it best about Star Wars. He said that Star Wars is locked into the magic of childhood, an that magic can't be reclaimed. The new Star Wars didn't do it for me. I don't own the new prequel DVD's, but I own the "old school" DVD's. The problem with Sony (and other studios) is that they aren't run by old directors or actors. They are run by money-grubbing execs who can be transplanted between Merrill Lynch, Nike, Nabisco, or any other big corporation. They don't take risks like old Hollywood. Every film has to be a blockbuster, or they don't do it. Star Wars and Star Trek have a lot of inertia, and several generations. I'm not sure if GB has that kind of global acceptance. I wouldn't mind a good GB film, but a bad one? We'd remember it FOREVER!

well ive heard the rumors of a new star wars trilogy for the past 5 or 6 years......lucas said that he has no plans to make another trilogy...however there are 2 star wars tv shows being made......Indiana Jones is different...other than dan aykroyd having a cameo in temple of doom i think lol.....there is so much more love for indy than for GB....now osme may disagree with me on that but thats what i think and i stand by that.....i personally have been waiting for a new indy for a long time....i am looking foward to it very much....alot of people are and with the original trilogy being so good the studio knows that even if the movie is bad that people are going to go see it...i think itll blow spiderman 3 away at opening.....but i guess seeing that the new idy was made might give more hope to GB3 since indy 4 was in development hell for just as long(maybe longer) than GB3.....and last crusade and GB2 both came out in 1989.......I would rather see a 5th indy movie(which i hope doesnt happen) than a GB3 because i just dont think a GB3 would work too well....especially in CGI...thats where i draw the line at a GB3...i mean yeah id go see it but it just wouldnt be the same.

I think it could work depending on the CGI used. For example if the CGI used was like the one used for the new TMNT movie, i think it would suck , but if it was done using the type of CGI used for the movie Final Fantasy Advent Children, it could work since it is very realistic.

Either way it would be great to see a GB 3 and if not let's hope Sony releases the RGB cartoons on Dvd to at least quench our thirst

Hell I'd be up for some direct to DVD movies similar to the Marvel and DC movies.Use the RGB VAs for the GBs,but do them in the FF7 Advent Children CGI to make them look spectacular.
