Or less shit and more professional parts...

Customs are like that, it's a relatively far away shot of something that's not a replica. On this forum unless it's eye-meltingly awesome most people just won't care. :whatever:

it's not bad, but it just looks a bit underwhelming (the roof gear). Please don't feel insulted with what I'm about to say, I'm just giving my impression of what I'm seeing. It just looks thrown on there. The layout doesn't look bad, but it needs a more solid base. it all just looks incomplete and sparse. What I think would help would be to add more gear so that it fills out more of the real estate on the roof. Put in a that white and mount some equipment on that.

Just a few ideas.

A legit lightbar wouldn't hurt either. Those magnetic pop-ons are pretty...eh.

also if the reasoning as to why it was build like this is lack of funding; rule number one of owning and building an Ecto of any kind is always make sure you have the funding. Building/Owning an Ecto is very, very expensive.

That's a pretty good parade/temporary/party/Halloween setup!

this too. the parts you have up there look pretty good on their own, but... yeah, the set up just doesn't look right as it is.

The car is a good base, the components you have look good... just the combination you have isn't fully working as of yet. Don't give up on it or get frustrated. What you've got going has a LOT of potential in it. Keep working at it and this could be up there with some of the best non-hearse Ectos.

That doesn't look bad at all. I'm sure working with a moon roof there really puts limits on what you can and can't do.

The top of your sniffer looks identical to what we used.. what did you use for the neck/base?

Boomer turned us on to a good mini light bar we picked up for about $80 on amazon... it might also fit your car as well, since its smaller.

Once you get some door logos, that will help sell it a lot more.

I just used some scrap pvc piping I eye-balled at home depot....
Unfortunately the project is put hold for a couple weeks.I sort of...uh...ran into another car. :\
But, it's getting fixed and the down time has allowed me to come up with some new plans.
So, it's back to the drawing board...time for a redesign.

Is this the mini lightbar you were talking about?

Ouch! How bad is your car, and did all the stuff on the roof come flying off?

And yep, thats it. It comes in red, amber or blue as well.
We got the blue one, and installed a second cigarette lighter to power it, but still use our regular one for powering our audio in our roof rack, as well as adding things like led christmas light strings for christmas parades.

If you want to get some cheap temp door logos, Vistaprint online will do door magnets, and they always send you promo specials all the time. Usually you can get two full color printed door magnets for under $15 shipped. Cut them out, and just put them on for events. (People have been known to steal door magnets.)

They aren't thick, but do stay put, and the color printing is vibrant.

Vinyl door logos are best, but if yer on a budget, or want something removable, they'll do in a pinch.

The rack wasn't on the car. But, I knocked loose the bumper, dented the hood and broke a headlight.I'm redesigning the whole rack to be made outta wood instead of pvc.Thinking of going a more 1a-ish look with it since it's an Audi "a"4...

What did you use as your baseboard? I just have MDF painted with housepaint to seal it. Chace found some great thicker plastic foam stuff for doors (I think) for his roof rack. I'd like something thicker, and to have the botom conform to the roof profile to make it appear like there is something actually inside it.

BTW, you can get thinner dimension blue electrical conduit ribbed tube very cheap at lowe's (I think $4 for 12 feet.) I used two of them side by side, and a gas tank connector to add that blue gas tank connection kind of look to our ecto. (The larger proper blue hose is far too large on our smaller car.)

What Garee is referring to is a fake wood used for decks benches and other outdoor stuff...its essentially PVC plastic molded to look like boards of wood. guarenteed for 20 years of outdoor use.

Also...

Image

those GBII logos are RIDICULOUSLY too small!

USE the body lines of the car!

That logo should start at the top bend of the door and end at the bottom bend. like this

Image

I know you have the center molding, but pull it off or work around it because honestly those look like you put a bumper sticker on your door.

I like what you have going on there. I happen to have a vinyl plotter and all of the correct GB logos. If you are interested I can do you up some more approriate logos for your doors, etc. I'm not to far away, if I take your franchise seal correct. I'm in Santee. Send me a PM.

Joe

Guess that moon roof is unused now.

I noticed you change the light bars again.

Car looks good. Remember this tip when doing any custom work to your car.

It's YOUR car. if YOU like it, then that's all that matters.

Side note. When posting pics of your car online, take a few seconds to blur out your tag. Just for safety.

You might want to review the CVC to make sure you don't have to cover those lights...I'd hate for you to get pulled over and cited because you were running lights that are illegal.
