Could only log in this evening and he was sold out. Sort of a bummer to support the line so much for all this time and then miss out on the big guy. I may have to pay through the nose on this one.

I'd hold out if I were you. They'll probably re-release him with an angry face, and/or proton stream damage.

Missed him. Sold out and I was going to go for him too damn it. Matty's sales plan is a freaking joke. Seriously, max of 6 on something that was constantly sold out during the con? As frustrating as this is following Mad Matty Monday, I'm actually afraid of what will happen when it comes time to buy the traps. I'm wanting two but if it runs like these last two sales...

I truly don't understand the people complaining about Stay Puft selling out so quickly. The sale wasn't a secret. you knew exactly where to be and when to be there in order to get one. You knew it was a SDCC exclusive and so would have limited quantities. If you waited until the evening to log in you've got no one to blame but yourself, 6 per person limit or no. To complain that Matty's sales plan is a joke seems willfully ignorant to me. Matty is in business to sell toys and make money, not to hold back on items so a few die hard fans can take their sweet time ordering something.

Matty sold out within half an hour, that makes their sales plan a rousing success and tells us a couple of things: demand was high and quantities were low. If Matty had limited their sales to 1 per customer, they still would have sold out and instead of the moaning about scalpers they'd face the moaning from people who needed more than 1 for presents, or purchasing for friends who were unable to be online when sales opened, etc etc. There's a balance that has to be struck between allowing people enough leeway to purchase the number of items they require, and trying to limit the scalpers.

What is that limit and who gets to be right about it? Is 2 enough? 3? 4? What is the threshold between reasonable and unreasonable and why? To me 6 doesn't seem unreasonable. I can foresee circumstances where 6 would be a number that one individual would order not being a scalper, if for instance members of your franchise all want a Stay Puft, but most will be at work when the sale happens then likely the member who can be online when the sale starts will be ordering for all. Yeah some scalpers will get in on this, but a 1 per customer limit isn't going to stop a determined scalper anyway.

And just a last thought, if you complain that you've supported the line from the beginning but didn't get the Stay Puft you need to remember 2 things: 1st, you should have known better if you truly supported the line from the beginning because this is not the first sell out in the line's history. 2nd, your support is great, but it does not mean Matty owes you something. You paid your money, you got your figures, even and square.

I ordered mine 30 minutes after they went on sale... from my cellphone.

I had no troubles except for when ordering from Mattel my credit card gets declined and I have to call my bank before I order. Which I did, and was still able to order in time.

Same deal here. I am on the other side of the planet in Afghanistan. I was still able to get on and buy a Stay Puft. I had to deal with 15 minutes of the WSOD but still got it.

Okay, I can admit my frustration with the sale was heavy handed and at the end of the day, Pagz is right. Nobody's ever gonna be happy with it I guess. I tried to get one and ended up failing because it sold out before my purchase screen could roll around. Oh well, maybe next time.

I got my order in on time. Though I did feel that a maximum of six is a little ridiculous for a comic con exclusive.

My only concern is the material... I plan on keeping this guy mint. But the material he's made of... Will he deteriorate over time?

Based on the reviews I've seen, I think he will, but not at a rate much more than any other toy depending on how much exposure he gets. Maybe in 20 years his joints will be loose, but I don't think falling apart if he's mint. I think the biggest concern will be yellowing, but I'd think if he's kept out of direct sunlight he should be fine for a long time. I wouldn't put him directly under a display light either. He's big enough that it shouldn't be too hard to see him

Yea, he better not deteriorate if he is well taken care of....otherwise I'd really regret buying him. He should be fine.

Just got my shipping notice :walterpeck:

i have a bit of a confession.. now, I don't consider myself a scalper, but I DID buy 6 Stay Pufts with the intent to sell all but two, do you know why? because I spend ALOT of money on ghostbusters, and making a little profit would let me afford to buy more without wasting rent money.. does that make me a bad person? I'm a hardcore gb fan, but I'm also a father and almost-husband. I have to pay the bills, but I also want zuul & Vinz in Terror Dog form, damnit, and those are effin expensive! At first I just thought of it as a clever way to have my cake and eat it too, but then I see all these people complaining and I almost started to feel what may be an incling of guilt.. so am I an arsehole for doing that? (PS a scalper sells things for insane prices, I'm going to start the auction at MSRP and let it work up from there.. during X-Mas..)

I ordered mine from my iphone while on holiday in france where the phone networks are patchy at best! i lost connection 3 times and WSOD is terrible on an iphone (first time i'd seen it on an iphone for this sale) terrible to deal with, but like you my friend it wasn't a hassle to buy him as we all knew when the sale would be. despite all the issues with using a phone internationally i orderd

a quick sell out is only good for Mattel and Ghostheads as customers, if they see a high demand they will increase budgets for their design teams

what can I say, I dislike people who blatantly pronounce that they are buying things in bulk in order to sell them at a higher price, which results in less quantity for others who then have to go and pay the extra cost

you say you are not a scalper yet you bought 4 of these to sell on Ebay..at Christmas time, when you know full well desprate folks are willing to get reamed in order to get something as a gift. You sir are a scalper in my book.
Oh and by the way there are alot of folks who have spent alot money on thier collections so please don't try to use that as the end to justify the means.
To add insult to injury you come on here and brag about it.

1. I'm not selling them for expensive prices, I'm starting an auction. if someone pays $70, if they pay $170 than that's how much they pay. and if they ARE paying a higher price it's their free will, I'm not "reaming" anyone. I just payed $100 for a PKE meter from someone else on this site.. do I consider him a scalper? no, because i WANTED it enough to pay that much. if you wanted one that bad and knew it was a SDCC exclusive you should have done what I did and woke up early to purchase it. and didn't come here to "brag" I actually wanted someones opinion, but now that I got it, thank you for your feedback. didn't mean to be an asshole. have a great one

I missed Stay Puft. I had to work today and tried to get it on my break. Stay Puft was gone within the first hour it went on sale.

Anyone receive shipping confirmation yet?
I know the Invoices stated... "Estimated shipping date for Stay Puft is 8/9/2011."

Also, I think it's kind of funny how some people think that Mr. Stay Puft will go back on sale when it's Black Friday.
Or when Matty has one of their random sale days again.
Just like SDCCs 2009 Egon & 2010 RGB Peter, they we not offered him again.
Time to hit Ebay or Amazon for that 100' tall Sailor.

I checked the shipping info, it says In Transit, but was received in Nevada yesterday, so it is on it's way East from what I can tell. Figure to have it Friday.
