I have to agree with the guy who called how Matty runs things is a joke. They should not let you order more than 2 Stay Pufts / any item with one credit card. You feed the scalpers / eBay trolls. It's not fair to the real fans. I got one after waiting 40/45 minutes on my iPhone at 8:50am. Yes they started the sale early like they always do before 9am.

No they don't.

But everyone starts accessing the site 30 minutes early, so the WSOD goes up early.

what can I say, I dislike people who blatantly pronounce that they are buying things in bulk in order to sell them at a higher price, which results in less quantity for others who then have to go and pay the extra cost

You wouldn't be saying that if it cost you 90 dollars to ship one to the UK but still 90 if you ship two. I bought two so that I could try and share that high shipping cost not to mention import taxes. Does that make me a scalper.. No. Scalpers are people who have no interest in the product but just know they can buy lots and sell them for inflated prices. People who buy more than one to help them afford them better are not scalpers.

Definition of a Scalper..

1. To engage in the reselling of something, such as tickets, at a price higher than the established value.
2. To buy and sell securities or commodities for small quick profits.

I personally could care less what people do after they buy the items, but what you are doing is basically scalping. The only reason you bought 2 is so that you could make money and offset the price of YOUR Stay Puft.

So....yeah....I've been AWOL from every toy forum I visit due to being overworked lately and I completely missed the fact that these went on sale on mattycollector...I knew they were coming, and somewhere in the back of my brain I always know SDCC is somewhere in July, but it just completely slipped my mind this time.

Even when I first heard about it, I kind of thought....great....over $50 for something that will essentially be a big piece of foam rubber and some cardboard? Probably the cheapest thing they've ever spent development dollars on? Wasn't sure if I cared, even though, damn it, I'm a completist and I have everything else so far...

So I still can't decide if I care. I put in a bid on one for $90 on eBay but I got outbid and I actually felt kind of thankful that I did get outbid.

At this point I'm holding out hope...maybe Matty will see the demand for this dirt-cheap item (for them to produce), and release some more some day; maybe slightly different so the original maintains its rarity...

But at the same time, they may not, and the longer I wait the more ridiculous the price will get. So again...just not sure what to do. Am I the only wishy-washy one who thinks that this item is hugely over-priced and ridiculously under-produced? Why in God's name wouldn't they consider this an integral part of the line? It's that damn Rookie that should have been the SDCC exclusive!!!

Mine hasn't even been shipped yet.

I'm kinda worried now that they will tell me that they ran out..

(although at the same time I would be relieved.)

LOL!
No 1. these arent securities or commodities. A commodity for example is a good which has many similar alternatives and so could be purchased from many different suppliers.
No2. "established value" doesn't just mean what mattel decide to sell them for because they are running a monopoly since they own a licence to sell GB figures. The established value is therefore what the market is willing to pay meaning that anybody is free to sell their items and if people wish to pay more than the original price so be it.
No3. Scalper is a made up slang word...I could make up a word now and use its definition to prove my point, but it wouldnt make it correct.

Dont get me wrong, when these sell out before I have chance to purchase I feel anger towards the ebay sellers who buy the maximum amount with no interest in the product...but thats the important factor in my opinion. I dont think we should have a go at fans who simply buy a couple of extras just to help them afford the products the real problem is the many ebay sellers who have no interest in GB but just know there is money to be made. I know I have said this before but I really do think this factor matters because at the end of the day a fan might want to keep 3 figures but then decide at a later date to sell one or even two of them, but that certainly wouldn't make them a "scalper".

You and I are in the same boat AJ and not only that when i try to look up the order. The order number comes up as not existent. As for the customer service area. The order is on my history just will not show when i wish to ask about it.

Thats what I was thinking when I folded out the diorama. I also thought to myself, "they didnt have to add the extra cardboard parts to make it more three dimentional" but it really does make it look sweet!

Not sure what the phone conversation cartoon on the back is all about! What did you think of that? lol

I was playing around last night with mine! Cant believe I got it to the UK quicker than some of you in the US. Strange. I know these are the GB2 Figs but they are the only ones I have out of the packaging!

Yeah, I don't get the back. It's cool there's something there, but it's not like I'm going to place him on a coffee table so people can get a 360 view of the diorama.

So, I just got off the phone with a Rep at Matty Collector.
I was just curious to see the status on my Stay Puft figure.
I mean, I paid for him and got a Order Confirmation.
But according to the Rep, they are SOLD OUT and my order is on BACK ORDER.
I asked the guy how this is possible, since I ordered Stay Puft before 12:30pm.
And he just said that they didn't have anymore.
But since I got an Order Confirmation, then I'm guaranteed one.
And there's no time table for more to show up, they just will be there and my card will be charged.
The Situation kinda pisses me off, especially annoyed with the A-holes who ordered a bunch to just sell 'em on Ebay.
So, way-to-go Scalpers! Now stay off the thread!

They don't charge your card until it ships. It may have been preauthorized for the amount, but you weren't actually charged.

I really don't think that they're even on back order. They said they'd start shipping on August 9. People started getting impatient and calling before August 9, so they said its on back order (which simply meant it wasn't ready to ship) and then had that response on hand for anyone else who asked for the status of their shipping.

Mattel has never sold more than they have to ship as far as I know. I highly doubt they did this time.

They told this to me too:

We show that the product you would like to order is currently out of
stock. Although we do not have an estimated arrival date, we are working
to obtain more stock as soon as possible.

It could just be a miscommunication. I mean... I ordered them. I didn't tell them I wanted to order them.

I just got off the phone with Digital River.. He is backordered, when I asked how this was even possible considering they should have know how many to sell prior to the release date, all I got was the script "I apologize for the inconvience, your product will be shipped when he becomes available".
Matty really needs to get a better vendor to do thier sales, these people are about as useful as tits on a porcipine.
I also told them they should reconsider theamount the allow people to buy so these problems don't arise.

It's just Matty Collector f-ing things up again.
I logged on at 12pm...
Sat in the queue for about 20-25 minutes...
Click on Stay Puft and added him to my cart...
Logged into my account...
Double Checked my info and credit card number...
Confirmed the order and then got the Order Number email...
All taken care of by 12:32pm...
And now I'll get NOTHING.

I'm not impatient, I'm actually the opposite. I'm just frustrated that I went through all this and now I probably won't get it.
And then to see the Scalpers brag about ordering a couple just to sell during the Holidays is annoying.
The letter AJ received from Matty is kind of concerning regarding their business practices.
Why send out Order Confirmations if you're not sure you'll have enough?

I also got off the phone with digital river got a little bit more info. The rep said that they received the backordered shipment but are still trying to get it unloaded and broken up into all of our shipments as they piece the orders together we will start receiving our shipping confermation emails. If we don't get the email by next week was informed to call back but was assured that they did have them and were working on sending them out. Although it is a little disheartening to see the shear amount of people selling 6+ on eBay and the Matty Facebook page I kind of wish they shipped the orders with the lower numbers of stay pufts sent out first as they prob could have gotten more unfulfilled orders off their books but that's just me.

Your so correct. The low number orders should have gone out 1st. They need to learn from their mistakes, fix them, and move on.
