Another thing is that what if GB3 is never made by movie studio. Would any of you be happy with a GB3 made by the community. Like a big group project collaborating together? Each person with the necessary skills helping out. I think that would be pretty kewl. Could you imagine a movie fan community making a film? and i'm sure there would be a lot pf publicity about it which would possibly lead to people donating money to the film's budget? OR do most want GB3 to be movie studio or Bust? O course you may ask what bout the props? Well I'm sure there could either be some built or there being so many people I'm sure there would be people to loan props.

well the problem with the htought that people would donate money is that if sony found out about that they would probably have the whole project shut down before you can say "WHO YA GONNA CALL"

ya and of course that seems ot be the problem for the real gb3

the main problem is that its been so long since GB2...i know indy 4 is happening and last crusade was done in 89' also but thats a little different in soem ways...plus harrison ford is in much better shape than murray, ramis, and aykroyd im sure.....but murray ebing so reluctant to do it...if i recall right back around 99' or 2000 he said he didnt want to do it because he was afraid it would ruin the franchise as it is now.......i thik the biggest problem is that there wasnt supposed to be a sequel anyway...aykroyd had said that everyone was reluctant to do the second because the first kinda closed the story up but the studio kept pushing....i dont even care about a GB3 now..i just want the cars restored...id rather have that than GB3...

What I really want are the comics to start running monthly like they were supposed to.

There's good fan made material out there, but it's no GB3. Braxtan's stuff is great. And quite frankly, I have yet to see anything any better, IMO of course - so if he can't quite reach the bar, I doubt throwing everyone in the community on board and having so many people looking for starring roles, would make it great.. That's just about as nice away as I can think to say it.

i completely agree jhsanny. and of course we would have to have the hero props, stunts prop , animatronics, many many concept designs, an agreed upon script and ecto-1b (and pray to god nothing bad happens to it) we'd probably have to build a large firehouse set and sit and create a good villian. then we'd have to get filiming permits and i think all that is even above the gb community. i mean we got the tools and we got the talent but we ain't got the money and as much as I'd like to think so I know we can't fight Sony. To be honest I'm considering "Return of the Ghostbusters" as gb3 for right now and just like gb3 we're still all waiting for it to be released ha ha.

Honestly, I'll be happy when the new game comes out on a current platform.. I'd go over why I think a new movie wouldn't be that great of an idea, but it's nothing everyone hasn't already heard. So.. Hurry up new game! And please be awesome!

Well, them nerd treckers make tons of fan made movies, some of them look pretty decent, some of them are crappy. And some of them star the real actors from the original movies !!!!!!!!!!! I Think Tri-star doesn´t complain as long as they don´t make any profit from them.

Ironically enough, Eddie Lebron is labeling his "Ghosbusters: Generation" as the closest thing to GB3. He's even adding Stay Puft climbing the empire state.

As for a fan made GB3, there are way too many problems with making it.

1. Sony would stomp some ass if something came out labeled Ghostbusters 3. Even if no money was made from it, it would still involve characters in some fashion from a franchise that they have exclusive rights for.

2. Even if you had exceptional equipment and effects teams and so on and so on. You would have to put a ridiculous amount of money into it only to make nothing back. Granted it's not always about money, but aside from the pride you'd undoubtedly have you'd probably end up living in your car for the next few years.

3. Even if you took a poll of what ghostheads would want to see, you'd never be able to please all the fans.

4. Most of the GB fan films take place within the same universe but involve different franchises(e.g. Braxtan's Denver Ghostbusters, my film's Knoxville Ghostbusters, and so on.)with their own original characters and situations. Granted most of them have homages to certain aspects of the films like the montages. But LeBron's film, Generation, kinda scares me in the fact that its shaping up to be a direct sequel to the GB films. It even has somewhat of the original premise of GB3 with a new group picking up the packs. I really do look forward to seeing it, but I'm also really afraid that it could be the fan film that makes Sony break out the cease and desists.

I guess the whole point is that we should leave GB3 in the hands of Dan Aykroyd and in the mean time we can enjoy the fan projects and the films and soon to be game.

that's the thing, sony doesn't own the exclusive character rights, they have to ask Dan Akyroid and Harold Ramis who holds the exclusive rights, just the character and concepts, but sony does own the franchise rights

Well that's the thing. Sony may not own exclusive rights, but Aykroyd and Ramis have to say that you can make the movie. If you do it without permission, there is a chance that the project will be halted before the first trap it thrown. But I guess it could work if you said it was an Indi film and just called it "Ghostbusters: Hellbent". Either way, be it a accutal Hollywood movie, Indi Film, or Video Game.....I'm excited!

If i had the money id fund it myself and make the film myself. I dont really care about sony. They make enough money. Sure, they might halt it, but apon viewing it might realise its actuley good and might hire me to make the thing for them!

the whole thing is pretty odd in my opinion...ppl shuld jus get overthemselves........im sure if sony left the whole thing to Aykroyd n ramis that they wuld b more than pleased wit the results (as wuld da fans).....we need to find a way to prove dat to sony....)...and also....i've heard steven speilburg say dat the original cast never wntd a fourth indy movie but that this movie is bein produced in honor of the fans...i dont c y sony wuldnt do the same....they reali wuld make more money......but yea....those r my thoughts....

sony is stupid, because there sitting there and wondering, gee why hasnt ghostbusters made any money lately? THATS BECAUSE YOU HAVENT GIVEN THE PUBLIC ANYTHING NEW SINCE 1997 with extreme ghostbusters, and it wasnt even promoted big. Me being a huge ghostbusters fan, had no idea the show even existed intill i read about it on the internet!

Also, the last dvd set was a joke. They gave you less features then the first disc, dident even bother to change the menu on ghostbusters 2, and as special features, they throw in 2 random episodes of the cartoon series. give me a friggen break.

If sony is really serous about making some money, they should forget the fact that the reason ghostbusters 2 dident make alot of money is because they put it in theaters the same week as indiana jones and batman and james bond, of course its going to be overlooked when u have 3 other huge films opening within a week of it! If they maby, idk, put it out as a christmas launch, like it should have been (who the hell wants to watch a movie set around new years in the middle of june?) then it would have made alot more money that year! But, there whole reason is It dident make money back in 89!


If they are going to ever make this film, they should do it now while the iron is hot. You got all the major franchises returning, transformers, Teenage mutan ninja turtles, rocky, rambo, indiana jones, Die hard, superman, batman, i dont get why the ghostbusters cant come back now too. Most of the big money movies now are sequels or reboots of films made in the 80's. Hell, they are working on a Night rider movie, A NIGHT RIDER MOVIE! You mean to tell me theres more of a demand for KITT then there is the ghostbusters?

If anyone is reading this from sony, for the love of god, your company is going down the tubes quick. You cant give away your playstations 3, dispite making a ton of cash, spiderman 3 was awful, your blue ray disc arent selling, and every single gaming that was suppost to launch with the playstation 3 has been delayed at least a year, due the sure fire thing and make ghostbusters 3. Dont rip off the fans, dont make a half assed cgi version of it, DO it, and do it right, before its too late!

I agree, some what, with what your are saying. And although some of those movies you mentioned have yet to be released, I think Transformers and Batman Begins were the only movies to do their franchise justice. I would hate to see Ghostbusters go the way of "TMNT". Taking a live action movie series and dumbing it down into a cartoon. Now TMNT wasn't bad for a cartoon, but campare it to the first two live action turtle movies and I thought it sucked. I would hate to Ghostbusters follow that same path. I'm not saying it can't work, but they would have to keep with the same continuity that has been established.

If there was to be a third GB film it should have been live action and done around 1992... Just my opinion.

sony has made some real bonehead moves lately...and its only getting worse...

i cant honestly think of a decent movie sony had made in the past few years. Sony NEEDS to make ghostbusters 3 if they want to pull out of this slump

I'm personally happy ending up with a new ghostbusters game series (yes, there's talk that they are going to make multiple gb games over the years to come). If I had to choose between a new gb3 movie or video game, I'd take the video game in an instant....and it would be cool if there was a live action weekly tv show!
