I've slowly (but surely) started gathering the stuff needed to assemble a uniform. I'm trying to stay as close as possible to GB1. When vintage parts are not available, I acquire the modern equivalent. Hopefully I'll have a full GB uniform soon, and my outfit will finally be complete (Yaaay! says the 11 years-old me ) My objective is to replicate Venkman's outfit (for now) Maybe I'll add the trap holster later, if I ever figure out how to haul my trap around without making holes in concrete floors. Genuine Corcoran 995 jump boots, nicely weathered by the previous user. A lucky find, I got them at a fraction of the full price (new ones, shipped to Canada, cost a fortune) and they are the exact right size. Here they are, after I finished prepping them. I washed them, lightly sanded the zippers (to expose the metal) and I replaced the 72" shoelaces with 96" ones. Some might say that's it's a bit long, but now they go on easy, like slippers. And I like it! Another lucky find: I found a vintage 70s Sanyo calculator board (ICC-82D to be exact) for my belt gizmo. I know, it's not an 808D, but it'll do. Aside from a few subtle differences, it's pretty much the same exact board. And I didn't even have to pay for a fully functional vintage calculator only to gut it; the board came as is, from a defective unit. And here's my board in the great belt gizmo holster that I bought from Tyger Cheex. That guy does wonders with leather. Speaking of Tyger Cheex, here's a full set of his great looking key fobs. Don't ask me why, I love those things. I have to restrain myself from using them on my everyday belt! That's it for now. More to come! Stay tuned!

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find the boots. At least with a zipper like that... grrr might just go with some used army boots.

Why yes! I am some kind of a cosmonaut! Thanks for asking. What? What did I say? nick-a-tron wrote: Great start so far Mike!! Gunna be a treat to see it all come together. Thanks. And it's a real treat to get all that stuff in the mail, believe me. I should have everything in hand real soon. And I can't wait.

That's great man, good for you. You shouldn't regret it, these boots are incredible. OK! So here's a small update, because I got a whole bunch of stuff in the mail. Motorola MT500 short body, with stubby antenna. Yes I know the antenna isn't accurate, I've already contacted my buddy Fernando about this. It's not functional, and doesn't have a battery. According to some sources, this is good. That thing is heavy enough as it is! Here's another lucky find: I found those vintage, genuine Motorola holsters, brand new and still sealed. Sure, they're not exactly the right model (Velcro instead of snap) but it was a steal. My MT500 will look great on my belt in that holster. Speaking of which... My radio in my holster, eagerly waiting for my belt to get here. The radio fits like a glove, so I won't have to use the straps, just like in the movie. There's nothing like seeing your name stitched in a GB patch for the first time. I received my custom name patch from JoJoCustomizes this week. His patches look great, and the quality can't be beat. I'm sure that it'll be a great match for my GB1 no-ghost patch that I bought right here at the shop. That's it for now!

OK! I'm back. I just finished moving in the new house, and the Canada Post strike is finally over. So this means that I can get back to completing my GB uniform! Speaking of which, I've got some more stuff. Here goes! Small update, but big step ahead: I finally got my belt. That thing is in the mail system since last May, I kid you not. It's khaki, but looks reeeeally gray as soon as the lightning has a little bit of blue in it. Perfect! As soon as I got it I began "assembling" it. A few greeblies does wonders to a simple thing like a canvas belt! Still missing a few things, but now that I'm moved in and that mail is working again, it should go fast. Stay tuned!

Okay! Now's the time for that massive update I've promised you guys. First thing first; I updated my boots. Those are the exact same boots, after sanding the zippers and using a metallic marker on them. I never thought that it would look so good (and that it would be so easy) Nobody will ever know that these zippers aren't aluminum, except if I tell them (oops... ) My "new" Motorola holster. This one is more accurate (having a snap instead of velcro and all) and vintage as all hell. Found this by pure luck on a surplus website, paid 2.87 for it. That's by far the luckiest find of my uniform. GB1 trap holster by Tyger Cheex. I love this thing, it came with a matching steel V-hook (the one that's on my trap right now) I actually tried it with my trap, with humorous results. No way I'm using that thing. It's accurate, but unpractical. My updated belt. It's not missing much, the gizmo daughterboard and a keyfob (which we wouldn't see anyway) I'm planning on completing my gizmo soon (found an interesting little board, still waiting for the coiled cable) And here's what the french call the piece de résistance (no we don't) Gibson & Barnes Sentinel uniform, with custom modifications to make it accurate to GB1. Amy was a lot of help in the process, and even if I didn't use the correct ripstop fabric (I went with poly-cotton) I think that we nailed all the details. Here it is after re-stitching the no-ghost in the correct place, and a good wash to crease it a little. I actually sent Amy my patches so that G&B would sew them on, but they completely botched the no-ghost placement (didn't they make the GB2 suits ?!?) Here's the patch from the shop (that thing is magnificent) sewed on the suit by yours truly. Never sewed anything before in my life, and while it wasn't easy, it went really well. I recommend to all Ghostheads to sew their patches themselves, it's a rewarding experience. Having your name on your own GB suit. Nothing quite like it. It's a little high compared to the reference pics, but my name is long. At least the bottom right corner is on the left pocket's seam. That wash creased that thing beautifully. At this point I said to myself, "I really should take pictures in my bathroom, the light is colder" Boom! Instant grey suit. Blue light reeeally transforms the suit, it's astonishing. I'm starting to think that this whole "khaki-grey" thing is a moot point. With blue lightning, that thing is sooo grey. A couple more shots for the road. I love that thing! I went with a 46R (5'11", 220 lbs) and it fits me beautifully. Didn't even have to have it custom made! And it fits over street clothes, as well. That patch is so pretty it freaks me out. I still have to attach the hose connector, but it'll be a piece of cake compared to the no-ghost. Not much left to do! That's it for now. Thanks for watching!

So what happened when you attached the trap. Did it make your belt fall down around your ankles?

Slowly but surely. Let's just say that I didn't wait long enough to see if it would happen. The trap made the whole belt slide down , and I wasn't even walking. When I walk I have to hold the trap the whole time, and that's without the pedal. The only solution I can think off is tighten the hell out of the belt so that it can't go anywhere even with all the weight. But then there's the bolts that hold the V-hook... I'll think of something.

Mine MIGHT weight more than yours in the end. I'm seriously thinking of trying my hand at whipping up a foamcore "stunt" trap. This one might just become a display piece.

I wanna see the hose you got from Masteryoda. Pic or it didn't happen. Wow that sounds really bad when I re-read it.

Once again, you attention to detail is mind-boggling. I was worried about the yellow colour of your suit, but that change in lighting is all it needed! Amazing!
