If it's any consolation, it's taken the better part of 2 years to find these.

Very nice...I have an 808d and an 802d. Sadly, my 808d has the digital display without the nixies, just like one of the two you have pictured.

I have an 82D, and it's really a great alternative to the real thing. Highly recommended! :)

Brilliant to finally see another accurate one photographed, it's helped clear up a few details I was still a bit sketchy on (like that odd round thing beneath the 1st black chip on the left).

If you want to see any more components just ask. I'm gonna re-shop that underside picture to make a new gizmo template as soon as I get a chance.

I'll definitely let you know. If only these photos had shown up when I was making my new Gizmo.

Does the one pictured have the socket for the coiled cable like some of the others have had?

No, there's no socket at all. I'm questioning as to whether or not there actually is one or if it was added after the fact.

Wait until you see the mod we are doing on an 808d with the digital display.....

I agree as we got two 808d's with two differant board layouts. It appears to me that the "socket" was added by the studio.

I can't believe I'm ogling over pictures of old calculator boards....

We're definitely going to need more pictures (mainly the top and sides) and new measurements for the Belt Gizmo page.

Why? It's an 82d, not an 808d. :whatever:

As far as I've seen, the 82d and 808d circuit boards look quite similar, and isn't the photo that JoeLuna posted at the top (along with Vince's second photo) of an 82d?

Plus the title of the thread is "Real Sanyo Calculator Board Discussion", right? So... I guess it seemed sort of relevant?

The picture at the top this thread is an 82d82d that we got along with our 2 808d's. I also have it for sale in the for sale section here on gbfans for about $1000 less than the one linked to on ebay.

They share some of the same parts but they look similar only in that they're both nixie calculators. The 82d is just wrong all the way around. Not a bad thing to harvest parts from but if we're gonna talk about accurate calculators we should stick to the 808D and its variants.

Image I was just going by the OP, which, as JoeLuna confirmed, is a photo of an 82d. I know the 808d is the real deal, but it looks as if several folks have used the 82d board for their gizmos. I'd argue they share more aesthetic similarities than just having nixie tubes as well, but whatever.

What would be the most proper socket/cord for the board?

Probably the original power cord for the calculator. I used one from an electric shaver for mine.

Ok so you all have seen my 808d with the digital screen. If not here it is.
Image
By joeluna33 at 2011-09-19

Vincenzo330 and I decided to modify it to look like the screen used model. Over all the board is the same, but there are so many variations of the 808 board that they all have their own look. So after the mods here is what I have for a GB1 belt gizmo.

I am happy and don't think I will need a new gizmo ever again, unless I can get a true nixie 808d board....

Oh yeah, and later this week I will have an ICC-808d power cable. We will know for sure if it is the right coiled cord or not!

Everyone should check out this page. It appears that we all may have been searching for the wrong calculators. This Minolta Minolcom has the same basic board as the 808d, but the chip layout is identical to the resin boards you can order from Nick-A-Tron. I believe there were many differant style of boards used in the filming of GB1 so who knows whats right or wrong?

The Minolcom is a known variant. Spengler28 inadvertantly copied one not too long ago: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=25940

The problem with the belt gizmo is it changes based on how far into shooting the movie they are. All the NY scenes they have 808d's, rooftop IIRC it's a mix due to stunts and the sedgewick is mostly stunts/replacements.

Nick and I based the design of the kit on now-outated and corrected information.

Your gizmo looks amazing, Joe. I don't know what you paid for it, but I'd be afraid to wear it out for fear of it getting bruised somehow.

That Minolcom board is definitely similar, and is the one I also based my styrene board's layout on. I like the look of the nixie digits on that board a little better, as well - less "digital" looking.

On the stunt/replacement boards, is it now known what the extra and different tubes were made/came from?
