Vivendi Games is pacting with Sony Pictures to turn "Ghostbusters" into a videogame franchise. First title in what the publisher hopes will be a series of "Ghostbusters" games is set for release in fall '08 from Vivendi's Sierra label.

All four members of the movie team -- Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis -- will be giving voice and likeness rights for the game. Some supporting castmembers have signed up as well, including William Atherton, Brian Doyle Murray and Annie Potts.

In addition, film scribes Aykroyd and Ramis will pen a story for the vidgame that takes place in the early '90s, after "Ghostbusters II," during a new ghoul invasion of New York City.

BTW, if they do make this for the WII, I'm modding the wand so the WII-mote can fit inside (if it can be done).

I'm tellin ya... this is ***potential*** set up for a third film. Depending on sales of these games.

Im hoping (if it is or isnt related to the previous 360 pictures) that they dont go with the character models with the oversized proton canons.

Keep the look more to the movies, or update but no guys hulking round what looks like a Vulcan Minigun (brings back memories of one the bad guys from Metal Gear Solid)

An updated (but traditional) feel in terms of the Ghostbusters look could provide inspirtation for new costuming choices

Two versions, the first, being designed specifically for hardcore gamers will be on the following:

XBox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

The second, designed to be played by a more wider audience such as families and and casual gamers interested in multiplayer:

Wii, Playstation 2 and the Wii

In addition, the Wii version will likely feature graphics that will make the game more sympathetic to the fun nature of that console.

This is going to be flat-out AWESOME! I cannot wait to see the graphics they'll have for a Ghostbusters game! I can see many hours in front of my big screen!!
