NEW DEVELOPMENTS ON PAGE 5 11/02

RUN IS A GO

I present you for the first time pieces that have not been offered before. Pulled from the original Boss molds are the Terror Dog statue and Gargoyle Bird Head statue.

These are the masters pictured below and are ready for molding.

I am in only interested in selling them as sets:

2 Dogs
2 Birds

I will offer them both as a kit (unpainted) and as a painted set as well they would be accurately and faithfully painted to match existing reference available. Price would also reflect the option.

The Door pictured below for scale comparison was also acquired from the Boss molds years before they were ever offered. I made a mold and do offer them as well for those who never got a chance before.I will be offering a special price for the bundle (2 Dogs, 2 Birds and the Door) for a limited time if there is enough interest.

The Door

First here is a never before seen pic of the door many years before the Edlund auction. I know from talking with one of the people who worked on the restoration for the auction that there were extra pieces for the building. The door being one of the most common pieces available makes it no surprise that there were extras made and prepped for filming.

Image

Now I understand that the scheme seems different than what we are used to seeing in the restored building images. Mainly, the patina seems more subtle than in the original. What I like about the original door is the notion of iridescence in the top middle portion, like when metal become extremely hot, causing such an effect.

Even from looking at the provided screen grab zoom in of a day shot of the building, the patina looks quite prominent.

Image

The following Door I painted utilizes much of the original door paint characteristics, but less intensity on the patina....

Image

Image

Due to the varying paint jobs on the doors, I will leave it in your hands on which you wish to have...

1. Original - (bronze base/ heavy patina/ iridescence)
2. Restored - (light on the patina/ more of an antique bronze base)
3. My version pictured - (bronze base/ medium patina/ iridescence)

NOTE: Paint choice does not change price in any way

PM me with any questions you may have. POST on this thread if you are seriously interested please.

Thank You!
Venky

I would be interested in everything, depending on the price. *Really* interested in the door.

Is there a thread that someone can direct me to on the history/story of these? I assume the Boss molds are were made for the movie?

I remember them all being on sale at an aution a few months ago. There were also maquettes of slimer, and of the scolari brothers as well that looked pretty nifty.

There were pieces of the exploded door, part of the two legged main platform, the corner head of gozer was one auction. Another was a bunch of slimer concept maquettes and Scoleri brother heads as well.

The bird and dog came from the same person whom I invested the whole project of parts cast off screen used pack pieces.

They have never been offered up for auction except for those on the restored Edlund building.

The door has made the rounds, especially back in the day at Mattel. There is a thread on some of its history on it over at the RPF.

Oh wow, I just noticed the door is behind Venkman in the picture. That's massive.

Is it made out of resin? That would look amazing hanging on a wall.

If you paint it, is it more golden, or an aged look with golds and greens?

The items would all be cast in a pre-dyed urethane. Light grey for the statues and for the doors as well. The door is big and takes around 40 oz. of resin to fill the mold.

The paint scheme of the door would not follow the restored doors from the Edlund Auction, but that of a pic of an original filmed door I received a few years ago. Very different weathering scheme. The base is more of an antique gold than bronze.
