So close to making the molds. Here is my "Mock" Rookie all decked out. I made the holster for the LifeGard and cut the slit in it.

Image

I have the extended Ion Arm (thanks Mereel!) with Resistors and the Cable Connect. I didn't cut the origional Matty Arm off yet, so it may look a little long I have to make the Cables going from the Tank Box to the Ion Arm and the Cable to the Pack Light

Image

Jumper Cable Clamps are done. I will be furnishing a Red Coated Wire for the Cables. Design change (thanks to Mereel again) on the 4 Lights that sit on the right side of the Pack. The "Bulb" on the Wire and the Slime Tube are done, but I couldn't get them to stay on with the Putty for the pictures.

Image

I have 2 more "Bee Stings" to put on the Thrower Barrel and a few Valves/Knobs.

Image

Mold and Casting Material has been ordered. I should be doing that the latter part of next week. Acrylic Tubes should show up about that time so I can do the Slime Reservoir and Thrower Tube.

Did I miss anything?

First off, wow! The rookie looks fantastic, and the speed that this kit came together is really impressive!

Provided the molds and everything work out, this is gonna be a HUGE boost to Mattel's figure, and will look VERY cool on a shelf next to the other GBusters!

As for anything missed, the only thing that sort of caught my eye was on the flashlight, it looked like on the screenshots there was a knob/button slider thing on the side of the barrel.
Seen here: http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q185 ... 155007.jpg

Other than that, I think it looks great! The caged light and vent piece is one of my favorites:)

Working on all extraneous switches and buttons while waiting for supplies to show up.

Don't know about that, but I'm going to be buying a few.

Did a remake of the Slime Barrel, I used the tip from a broken pen for the Nozzle End. I don't think I'll spoil it by trying to drill the Ports into it.

Image

Most likely I'll make the Ports Decals instead.

Image

Wish those Acrylic parts would hurry up and arrive.

HUGE difference with that new slime blower tip! Has a much better cone feel, and I think decals will work just fine.

Maybe cut 1/3rd to 1/4 off the wider part of that new tip first? It looks a bit longish to me.

I think Gareee has a point, it looks too long, compared to the original(s) you made.

Hey Gareee and JoeGB!

Yes it's a bit long, but not as much as you think.

Image

I think 1/4 would be too much, maybe just a saw blades width. Being that it's clear, it makes it look much longer. Once it gets painted and the Port Decals go on it will look better.

I ain't no Doc, I'm the Capt!

I got my coil of Red "Jumper Cable".

Image

Added Knobs and Connectors to the Box Extension, put on the remaining "Bee stings" and Connectors to the Drum.

Image

While waiting, I made up some Cable for the Tank and the Light.

Image

I'm not sure how well these will cast up so they may wind up being "wrap your own".

Image

And yes I do have dual Ion Rods but they're not installed.

Dang it Capt. I wasn't going to pick up an extra Rookie to customize until they (probably) went on sale later this year. But your work is fantastic! I hope I can pick up one of your kits when they are ready and I'll go ahead and get an extra Rookie on sale day.

Thanks Ghstbstr!

You can always customize the first one and make the sale figure the Vanilla MOC.

I got my Clear Acrylic today! Can't wait to get home and do up the Slime Reservoir.

Slime Reservoir in 4 pieces!

Image

Same height as the origional. I added a collar to help hold the Slime Tubing that attaches to it. I purchased enough Acrylic to do about 40 kits.

Image

How it looks along side of the Rookie1.0.

Image

The Thrower is next!

I can't wait, either.

I almost tossed the Thrower in the trash last night. :-x To couple the Acrylic Barrel to the Thrower, I tried for the thicker grip that is shown on the Game version, problem is that the Figue's hand doesn't open enough to hold it ( see illustration on right ). Unless everyone is game to do reconstruction work on the figure's hand, this wasn't going to work.

Image[/quote]

I came up with a compromise. I attached a collar to the Drum that would hold the Acrylic Tube and the cut down end of the Matty Barrel.

Image

This allows the figure to grip the Thrower Barrel. The only repercussion from this is the Slime Barrel has to be offset to allow space for the figure's fingers, so there is a gap between the two.

Image

The slight shift of the Slime Barrel does not affect the overall look of the Thrower.

Image

Image

My last bit of business is to dress the Acrylic Barrel with the Wire Connect and Barrel End.

Image

Any comments, thoughts, glaring omissions I have made? Now is the time to say something as I will be making the molds this weekend.

Now that's a good question! :-D

I've tried to make this as easy as possible so I believe everyone can build it with no trouble. Here's how it should go:

Using an Exacto or Snap Blade Knife, slice off the Heat Sink, Knobs, etc. flush with the side of the Thrower Box, then nip the tip off the Clippard.( old pictures ) Barrel gets cut, too.

Image

Image

The Gunbox Extension gets glued to the Base Frame, The Matty Gun Box should fit right next to the Extension, Line up the shortened Clippard with the front of the New Box and glue in place.

Image

The Drum then fits over the stub of the Matty Thrower and sits flush against the New Box and Clippard. Position and glue in place. New Acrylic Thrower Barrel gets glued into open end of Drum Collar snugging up against the Matty Barrel nub.

Image

When dry, put the Acrylic Barrel into the figure's hand to get the spacing for the Slime Barrel. After that it should be all Painting and Wires. That's the plan, anyway. I'll save this for the building tute.

More questions, comments, etc. please.

Hey Capt!

Everything is really looking good, I can't really see any glaring omissions or things that are missing. I still can't believe what a difference the new cone makes.

Looking forward to how the molding goes!

It's glorious!
Now I really can't wait to get that rookie figure and hopefully one of these sets! It's just so awesome.

Well done on every bit of this!

Just take my money already!

It goes without saying, but SINCERELY: THANK YOU for the time, effort and talent you've put into this.

Thanks everyone for watching this build and special thanks to those who have left comments and suggestions. Now we'll see how the Molds and Castings go.

Last build pictures for the Rookie 2.0. I couldn't leave the Thrower alone. I cut the Acrylic in half and replaced the back half with Styrene. They are joined together by a Clear Acrylic Rod so the connection won't be obvious.

Image

I then added the Joint Collar with the 2 Nubs to attach the Red Wire to and the End Collar.

Image

I've been asked how much the Kit will go for and my answer is I won't know unitll I find out what pieces cast up and which don't.

Amazing new strides Capt. The updated thrower looks great, and I appreciate your quick run-down of the build (meaning that even me with very limited creative ability should be able to use your kit without too much problem.) Much appreciated! I can't wait for the official kit sign-up.
