I cannot even begin to tell you Capt. Cyan how happy I am that there are people like you, Derrico, Beast and so many others that are able to give us the fans the figures that we want that the "big guys" can't or won't give us.

I'm loving all of your updates and am amazed at all the scale and work you put into your customs.

I've cleaned and set all the pieces in the mold box.

Image

I'll be pouring the mold a little later this morning. I hope to pull the first casts in the afternoon. Yeah, I stayed home for this.

Just poured the last of the mold mix. It should be set up about 1:30.

While we're waiting, I thouight I'd show the Rookie Decals I made up this weekend.

Image

Some I duplicated in clear so there is a choice as to make them glow, or not.

WOW, looking at the pieces all laid out really puts into perspective just how epic this kit is gonna be! The decal sheets both look VERY nice too, and will put the finishing touches on an already amazing kit!

Can't wait to see how the molds turned out~~

Nothing shy of incredible, Cap. Didn't know you did the "jump start" clips as well (just saw them in the mold box). Brilliant. Figure on order; cannot wait for this.

Agreed that the pic of all the pieces laid out really show how complete this kit is! I can't wait. I went ahead and ordered an extra Rookie at full price for this.

Hey Guys and Gals!

Made a small error in my last post. The molds should be cured by 4:30, not 1:30 as I stated before. Guess I'm as exceited as you are about this and flubbed the time. Sorry about that.

While waiting for the mold to set up, I unboxed all the other misc. stuff that will go in the kit. The Clear Slime Hose, Acrylic Rods for the Slime Tank and Thrower, Acrylic Half Rounds for the Pack Light and assorted Wire (Red Jumper Wire not shown) for the Pack and Slime. I started drilling and pegging some of the Pack Lights already.

Image

I'm getting fidgety waiting for the mold to cure.

It took me longer than expected ( so what else is new? ) to de-mold the parts. The Molds look good! Here they are.

Image

These are the items that stuck in the mold. The parts in the background were expected to stick, as in it's a good thing. The 3 in the front stuck but weren't expected to, not a bad thing.

Image

I still have to do some trimming and it's coming up on dinner time. I'm not sure if I'll get pictures of the first casts up today or tomorrow.

Capt, will you be offering a "Rookie Lite" kit? by that I mean just the flashlight and walkie - I think I'd like to upgrade my busters with both of those items but not a full kit for each of them, though I def. want 1 full kit

Trials and tribulations! Short story long, I got a set cast up. Here they are, fresh from the molds.

Image

I used a faster setting Resin for the first go. It took about 25 minutes and 3 pours. The resin kept setting up faster than I could go. Here are some side by sides. Origionals on the right, copies to the left.

Image

No surprise, there are some air bubbles but not where I was expecting them. I should be able to get rid of them when I use the slower setting Resin. For example, I thought for sure the Tubes that stick out of the Thrower Drum would not cast due to bubbles, and yet one shows up on the Slime Barrel.

Image

I was expecting the Trap Parts to look like swiss cheese...only 2 micro bubbles.

Image

Here's what joeghostbuster is interested in seeing. The Radio and the Flashlight came out perfect. I'm amazed that the Cables came out so good.

Image

Major disappointments were some of the Collars and the Tubes on the Red Dome Panel. I'm thinking the slower setting Resin will help with that by giving me some extra time to work the Molds better.

Image

I have to do one more set using the slow setting Resin before I come up with a price.

I'm casting up a 2nd set later today to see if I can work out the bubbles that showed up and to make sure that the first casting wasn't just a fluke. I'll then post the price on my sale thread here:

Thanks for your patients.

2nd test run, different bubbles. I modified the molds and got the tubes to form on both the Drum and the Plate. Ran into bubble trouble as the resin started to thicken during the pour so it gapped the Radio Antenna, the Conduit and the Trap Vac this time. Using smaller batches of Resin should solve this. The Collars for the Thrower still aren't coming out perfect, so I'll make them cuts of Styrene that will need to be glued together, otherwise everything looks workable.

Image

Each kit looks like it will take 2 hours for me to make (not including the setting time for the Resin).

I've posted a price on my sale page and started the Interest List by adding everyone who has made a comment since the start of the Rookie 2.0 build. Thought it only fair as you have shown some interest by making a relpy. If you wish to be removed from the list, please send me a PM.

Thanks!

Steve

I'm not sure if I shared this here before or not, but last winter I took some great (imo) photos of the first Rookie figure the Capt worked on, some really nice detailed shots here...
