I am curious where every one stands on the "Switch me on" switch. Do you try to include it in some form on your pack? It's only real purpose was a gag scene so should it be included? It's along the same lines as the handle twist to extend the tip. Does a simple sight gag dictate how a pack should work?

In some older cameras they would conceal a button under the fabric covering the camera. I've imagined the switch to be something like that. A hidden switch only the Ghostbusters can locate to prevent others from using the packs. It's a way to explain not having the switch on the pack but still allowing the switch to be there.

I have a main power switch on the lower part of my motherboard, next to my volume and input toggle. It's as close as I'll get to that particular switch, and it's functional as well.

If I did something like that I would just have my crank knob control the pack lights

If you want you can imagine that Egon connected the blue wire on Ray's PPD to "hot boot" the pack after disconnecting it before they left as a saftey precaution since it was their first time out.

I always thought it would be cool to wire up a pack so the round dale resistor could push inward as a secondary button for firing up the pack, the pack would maintain its screen accurate look, and you'd have the switch hidden to replay the gag scene. I have no idea how you could wire the thing to make it work though.

Actually along with the recent discovery of "nipples" on the PPD disks I thought the switch could have been egon pressing the buttons ("nipples") simultaneously to activate the pack but his hand is near the power-cell.

That would be pretty interesting to see done.

before i knew any better, on my first MDF pack, i put a recessed button where I thought Egon was pressing

of course, now that i re-watched the scene, i realize Egon doesnt press anywhere near my switch :)
