Hi all. I'm totally addicted to painting pics of the GB's when i get spare time. I already have one published comic variant cover under my belt (Eternal Descent) and im hoping to get another some day so in my spare time im practising my artwork like crazy. I figured i would make a progress thread on here in case any of you are interested in seeing whats involved with an airbrush painting
I recently commissioned a chap by the name of Chris Williams to draw me a pic of Janine as a buster along the lines of that Lucy Bishoujo statue and this is what he came up with...
I loved it so much i asked him if i could paint it (im an airbrush artist for a living) so a bit of A3 bristol board and a few hours with an airbrush in my hand and this is where im at...
Im going to add Ecto in the background with all its lights on and the New York skyline in the background with the typical GB cloud effect swirling its way around a skyscraper. May even try and sneak a subtle Stay Puft in there somewhere. If you want to see a bigger version go have a look on my Deviantart profile... http://svee.deviantart.com/#/d4qxbdm

Bit more progress lastnight. I did the hair and added some scrapes on her skin here and there and the odd little slime blob. Also added some freckles on her chest and face and worked on some of the shadows on her flesh some more...

I think its looking good... but...
(click spoiler if you want to see my critique)
Something happened with Janine's face from the time it was penciled (which looks good) to the time that it was colored. Right now it looks like her face / cheeks are very bloated and weird looking.

Yeah totally agree mate. The right (her left) one is ok but the other one just looks like she has a mouth full of something lol. I'll sort it out at some point
I love the original sketch, but the color version is still having face issues. Her eyes were mostly above her glasses in the drawing, but in the painting they are obscured by her glasses, and look wonky. The rest is coming out great though!
Maybe overlay the sketch on top of the color work in photoshop, to see whats really amiss?
Actually now that you mention that, I think I'd rather see the airbrushing underlayed below the line art. It has a great gritty style missing from the airbrushing.
