Well, it's starting to come together... my knock off Boomerjinks Ecto Magnum (with permission, of course). The first step in the process, get a car. Check. 2008 Magnum SE. Got it for an awesome price. Now, second step is ordering the custom plates.

I can't find this info ANYWHERE, so, how long does it usually take for the plates to arrive after ordering? I'll be hitting the DMV this weekend to register the car and while I'm there, order the plates... but I can't wait 3 days. It's been murder waiting for the damn check to clear so I can actually GET the car.

So... a little help fellas? :D

It varies from state to state, I never got customs for my ecto but we did for Bumblebee and the wait was like 2 months which sucked because I had to roll with the paper tag in the back window.

Two months?! shit.... well, hopefully Jersey is a little fast than that. I have a con in June and I'd really like to have the plates for then.

Well...the temp tag was valid for 3 months, but it only took two so I thought I got a fair shake...also despite being a less popular build, I began my ectomag BEFORE Kevin, and as far as I know was the first to do a magnum...but yours IS more like his since its an '08, mine is an '07 which has a different front end...anyway good luck on the build and be sure to check out http://custommagnums.com/ and http://www.lxforums.com/

In Colorado you have to send a form in requesting the plates and (ugh) explaining the meaning of the vanity plates. Department of Revenue then gets back to you telling you that you've been approved or turned down, and that itself is like three weeks. If you're approved, they tell you to send a check and that your plates are ready in 9-10 weeks.

It is NOT a fast process. You can't just order them at the counter and have them delivered. I know you're in a different state, but I would be utterly amazed if your plates arrived in less than a months time. This is the government we're talking about here.

In the meantime, go here and order some high-quality stamped replica plates. http://www.jimshine.com/celebritymachin ... 202011.htm

O-H-I-O takes 30 days max, just fill out a form and it's either approved by the DMV or isn't and they come to us.
