Ok, So after 20 years "Phase 1" i begin phase 2, I purchased my Car that will become Ecto 2.0 . She's a 1992 Cadillac Brougham Hearse, in very good condition. I plan to model her after 1a, with some Modern components, moreso inside than out. This is my first build, but i hope it goes well, I plan to have her completed before Halloween, As i do alot of volunteer work <Waverly Hills Sanatorium, Louisville Zoo, Trunk or Treat etc>

Until i become a supporting member, I have to link my posts to my FB page where i always add new images. So after roughly 2 weeks of work, you can see her progress at

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 751&type=3

I welcome any ideas, or feedback, Discourage comments about her not being a 59, altho ive seen some Gorgeous builds on Modern cars in here, so i don't think that will happen

So without further adieu, lets go!

Here's some hearse info, it's not a Cadillac Brougham Hearse, that isn't a thing. It WAS a Cadillac commercial chassis with the Brougham trim package before the conversion to a coach which was done by the coach company Sayers and Scovill.

So just as Ecto-1 was a Cadillac Miller Meteor, yours is a Cadillac S+S Victoria.

The car looks pretty good, wish you wouldn't ectofy it, not because of it not being a 59 but because of the rarity and condition of the vehicle....but then its you car so do as thou wilt.

Now that you mention, Ive seen that several places, On the side it has a chrome badge saying "SS Victoria"
Sayers and Scovill is etched into the glass partition, which to my dismay doesnt seem to come down

Alot of the more modern S+S partitions don't slide, but the etching on them is pretty georgous.

I'll just come out and say it...I think you're misguided in using the premier coach manufacturer as an Ecto basis. In fact, I really agree with Chace's sentiment. You'd be better served selling it to a member of the Professional Car Society and using that seed money to find a coach in less fortunate condition.

92ecto, I'm sorry I encouraged you to start this thread to receive only oposition from the first couple of posts. I have to say I can't disagree with Chace and 69428scj on principle, as I would totally support anyone who held those points of view regarding as significant an investment as their vehicles. However, in the end, you have the car, which is more than I can say for myself. And if you want to start with a solid machine for your ecto, why wouldn't you take that opportunity if it presented itself?

Ultimately, we and our cars will all waste away to dust anyhow, and it's no different for professional car enthusaists. Have fun with your car man. I'm excited to see the progress!

No worries, I dont want a car that needs and engine, trani, $3000 in body work, upholstery etc etc. If i hadn't bought it, it may have turned into just that. Rust was already starting, So i saved it from what was possibly its own last ride.

Ultimately, It's my car, and My hard earned cash being pumped into it, I will drive her to parades, Churches, car shows, event, whatever opportunities come up, Ill do all the maintenance and upkeep....and in 10 years, shell run and look as good as she does now.

The S&S have very pretty lines to them and if judging by your photoshop pics you will make the car an eye sore to the eye and waste a lot of money.. Keep the car and restore her to her glory, she isnt that old (yet) then maybe one day you can trade her for a much older car.

Ok , lets detour this to Positive comments or suggestions. No more " bad decision" comments please. RESPECT my decision to use the vehicle I purchased to do with as i will.

Well after a short 2 months, Here is what has transformed with my ECTO build. Still have alot to do, and to add...But i think shes coming along nicely. All lights work, Siren works. Satellite dish is being painted, Sniffer being Fabricated, Large white tank that was on the rear is also being modified, The one i have is 120 LBS, cant put that up there!

The hazard tape above the doors is the wrong color...its supposed to be orange and black...or red and black depending on the scene/screencap...but it's widely accepted that orange and black is the correct color.

Either way, it ain't yellow.

You're next response would probably be yellow is all you can find it in...not true. If you look hard enough you can find orange and yellow but it has two drawbacks, namely that its reflective (terrible for night photos) and hella expensive.

It's cheaper to have your vinyl shop make the correct stripe for you in two layers.

That's what I did anyway.

nice build sofar. i think the yellow black caution stiping looks pretty good on there. hell thats what i would have used cuz i thought thats what color it was. guess i never really paid much attention to it. i'm a big fan of the custome made ecto's. i like the different things ppl add on to make it there own. now if one had an exact replica of the original car then ya i wouldn't want to see it done up any other way the the original car was done. your ecto is coming along great. can't wait to see it fully complete.

Chace, Thanks for the tip. Ill have the orange/black tape made, that's how i got the yellow/black tape for the radar, Thank you for the notice. was also wondering if i should put it above the Rear door? Suggestions?

Sean, Thanks for the invite! Nick told me about the booking, I told him I'm in, BUT...I must leave no later than 6:15 from the event as i have to get ECTO up to Waverly Hills for the haunt...

Venkman - Thank you for the compliments. The thread started with a feeling all i would have is "bad choice" etc... Please note, the Red is not on yet, We have decided to follow the lines that are already on the car. Didn't think trying to create something that wasn't there would look right at all...Not sure when we will paint the red, but im looking forward to its addition

So some updated Progress pics . To help with Energy, added 2 Deep Cycle marine batteries, and a 3.5 fared Capacitor, Ecto sure is hungry for Power.
Have changed out all the interior lights for LED, Added the Chrome lights to front of roof rack, Both Antenna's, Silver Tank behind lightbars, Ectoplasm overflow tube , and various greeblies.

It looks a heck of a lot better as an Ecto than it did as that other wrapped monstrosity.

Plus I for one am glad that even though it's modeled after 1A that you used the GB1 logo instead of the GB2.

I miss the red fins and rear windows, though.

Alex

I will be getting Red on, however not sure if the Fins can be replicated without looking totally off kilter.
I was not a gan of the GB2 logo.

Thanks greatly, She has been a joy to work on!
