Wow, it finally made it on there along with the first movie "Freddy vs. Ghostbusters".

The next "e-hurtle" for the RotGB movie would be to get it placed on Wikiepedia. It has been put on their and taken off several times.

But now that IMDB has put it on their website, wikipedia should be next.

Goodluck with that.

I used to edit Wikipedia, but I gave it up because the place is so anal and staffed with control freaks.

Why does it keep getting deleted? The film's non-official status?

I submitted the page to Wikipedia, and they declined it for not having verifyability and credability.

I thought IMDB was a pretty good source.. I mean most of the movie stuff on Wikipedia is taken from IMDB.

Kingpin is completely right. The control freaks (or WikiCommandos as I like to call them) at wikipedia have nothing better to do than shoot holes in the validity of things they know little about.

That being said, making it onto IMDb is a HUGE accomplishment for a fan film. I know it might not seem like much, but it is. It gives the film a small degree of credibility, not to mention a nod at the effort put into it.

So please, if you can spread the word, write a review, or even give it a vote, it is a huge boost to our filmmaking efforts.

Well, another reason that the RotGB wiki article isn't made yet...could be that by the 2nd/3rd attempt to make it, we made fun of the Wiki Commandos. We, as in Braxtanfilm. Some members were upset that it kept getting taken down, so we made fun of the Wiki Control Freaks.

So when it came up for deletion, they cited "our" arguement on the forums for it to be taken down. Which had us calling them names. And they said something to the effect of, "If you are calling us Trolls, and losers, we'll never let you on Wikipedia."

So they probably got RotGB on a "list" of unwanted entries at Wikipedia. So whenever a new RotGB article goes up a red light flashes and alerts the mods that "we're at it again."

Oh well....

Thats cool AJ. I hope it makes it through. But I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't make it, Wiki hasn't shown much love for RotGB.

Just for the record, here is what the "previous" entries for RotGB looked like...before they were taken down....

, and continues the story of the Ghostbusters franchise based out of Denver, Colorado. The fim is noteworthy for a feature-length running time (85 minutes), being a sequel to a fan film, the acquisition of funding and production by numerous Ghosbusters fans from around the world, as well as the tremendously increased production values from the previous film.Return of the Ghostbusters features CGI visual effects that technologically surpass the quality of effects used in the source films, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II thanks to the talents of Ryan P. Wilson & Justin Rader. The film also features an Original Score by Composer Jon Vandergriff.

The film was released for free distribution on the internet on October 31, 2007. The first day of the film's availability was exclusively as a streaming video on iFilm, and has since been released in versions which are downloadable for Zune and iPod devices. ==Cultural References==
While Return of the Ghostbusters is rife with references and homages to the original Ghostbusters films, there are many other pop culture references throughout the film:
*News reporter April Hunter could have gotten her first name from the character April O'Neil, a news reporter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
*Ed is a fan of American Idol, and his cell phone ringtone is the Legend of Zelda theme.
*Neil mentions plans to spend all day watching Quantum Leap reruns.
*Ed's television persona is "Ed Spengler, the Science Nerd," a nod to scientist Bill Nye's persona (and television show) Bill Nye the Science Guy. During taping for the show, Ed paraphrases Gary Coleman's famous line from Diff'rent Strokes, asking "wha'choo talkin' 'bout, Pavel?"
*The bar fight sequence features the famous Wilhelm scream sound effect, used in many films and video games.
*Levar Gordon, Ed's hosting replacement, could have gotten his name from the actor Burton of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame, and the character Gordon Freeman, protagonist of the computer game Half-Life.
*Ed's producer refers to Levar as "a black Doogie Howser." LeVar had also claimed to write a New York Times bestseller, to which Ed retorts "Dr. Phil is on that list for a diet book! A diet book!"
*Scenes filmed outside of the Mayan Theater feature posters for Lucky Number Slevin in the background.
*Neil refers to Ed as MacGyver on his way to take April out for dinner.
*Agents J and K are a reference to Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones' characters in the Men in Black films. The detectives also end up getting into a discussion about Batman & Robin.
*Ed compares the potential growth of the ghost infestation to the franchising of Starbucks.
*There is a cameo appearance by the Angry Video Game Nerd, watching the final battle via news broadcast.

Prequel Comic
A web comic entitled Ghostbusters: The Denver Chronicles was released on the Return of the Ghostbusters website one day prior to the film's release. Co-written by Hank Braxtan & "The Sandman," the comic bridges the gap between the years between Freddy vs. Ghostbusters and Return of the Ghostbusters. The comic explains several changes that occur between the two films, primarily the loss of Ghostbuster Eugene O'Fitzpatrick (portrayed by Jason Cook in Freddy vs. Ghostbusters).

The comic finds Neil Anderson alone in Denver busting ghosts, and dealing with a few vandals who damaged the original Ecto truck from Freddy vs. Ghostbusters. Ed Spengler & Eugene O'Fitzpatrick are in London at the British Museum to answer a call that the "New York Chapter" (the original four Ghostbusters from the feature films) was too busy to handle. There, Eugene discovers a map inside an artifact to the lost city of Cynopolis. Janosz Poha, a character from Ghostbusters II (who has since moved to England to "get away from you guys"), takes this map to the sole financier of the Ancient Egypt exhibit Klaus Konstantin (and his assistant, Pavel Karnov). Twenty-eight days ater, Ed and Eugene are invited to the archaeological site they helped Konstantin discover. They drive through the desert in an undecorated white automobile, presumably the future Ectomobile featured in Return of the Ghostbusters. Unfortunately they arrive to discover a cave-in where several crew members are injured, and Konstantin is crippled, explaining his paralysis in the film. The two Ghostbusters run to the rescue, only to have Ed incapacitated by a group of ressurected mummies, leaving Eugene to fight against them by himself. During the confrontation of Eugene and the last mummy, there's another cave-in and Eugene is killed. Ed survives.

The comic's final panel features brief appearances by the four original Ghostbusters (Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore), and their secretary Janine Melnitz, attending Eugene's funeral along with the surviving Denver Ghostbusters. Also in attendance are Mario and Luigi from the Super Mario Bros. video games, bearing the likenesses of "Captain" Lou Albano and Danny Wells from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

Plot
Every town has an Elm Street , and Denver is no exception. This time the man of your dreams will cross paths with the boys in gray. It's a battle for 1984 supremacy!

Cast
*J. Michael Weiss as Neil Anderson
*Tim Johnson as Ed Spengler
*Jason Cook as Eugene O’Fitzpatrick

Director Commentary
When I first decided that this is what I wanted to make, it was originally going to be a 5 minute film that was just a fight scene. But, the script just kept on getting longer and longer, eventually evolving into what it is now. We spent about a month on 10 drafts of the script, and about two months filming here and there--every other weekend, a Wednesday night here, a Friday afternoon there; whenever we had the time to get everyone together, we filmed. This movie was shot for around $500.00USD!, and features my first attempt at a lot of different visual effects. With the help of friends, we were able to secure various locations, which saved us money. Another big reason it didn’t cost much was because I already had a lot of the props from previous Halloweens, etc. A good bulk of the budget was spent on building the set we destroyed in the final battle.
It's a goofy idea, but it’s fun to watch. I cut the first trailer on February 27th, 2004 with only four days of shooting in the can. I had to keep pushing back the release date because I was also working on other (failed) projects, so I released another trailer in April 2004 to help hold people over. Of course, I made the mistake of putting a release date at the end of the second trailer. "Setting a release date is Fan Film death", or so I was told by a certain TF.N moderator! When all was said and done, the film was available for download one hour after the release date had passed.

official FvsGB site:

http://www.braxtanfilm.com/fvgb.html

there are some refences in the links to the left but it's not much. I guess the real main link that should be put down in the one for IMDB.

Nazis approach!

Quote:
Speedy deletion of Freddy vs. Ghostbusters
A tag has been placed on Freddy vs. Ghostbusters requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You can't directly cut and paste information from another website.

The "Directors Commentary" was what tipped them off that there was a problem.

I've been reading, all of the articles used to sourcify ROTGB mention FVGB, doesn't that count then; or am I misinterpreting Wiki rules?

Also, someone help me out on formatting here, I suck at Wiki editing.

It doesn't help that the automatic radar tipped off due to the copyright infringed content (the director commentary).

We will try again soon. In the mean time.. someone please write unique content for a wiki page. Then when it goes back up again we'll have a better shot. Look at the Return page.. looks great to start with.. and had enough credibility to not tip off admins.

Well, we at least got farther along then we had ever done with Freddy vs Ghostbusters anyway. So it wasn't all for nothing.

I blame myself, I prolly shouldn't have "copy and pasted" from Hank's site. But now I know better and plan to work on an "original" entry.

Yeah, about that. Right before it was deleted one of the mods said that the FvsGB article didn't have enough "credibility". I mean, we had the IMDB link, a review of the film, and a interview with Hank. But still it didn't fly. But yet the sequel gets to stay on with no problem.

I dunno, that would be like Ghostbusters II getting on wikipedia but them not allowing Ghostbusters I to be put on there.

I'll be on the hunt for more FvsGB articles, but I don't think there are that many (as compared to RotGB).

Again, thanks Ron, AJ! You guys are great!

Worse case scenario, we can build it into ROTGB's page.

If it's any consolation, no one accepts Wikipedia as a credible source either. Wikipedia is not always 100% accurate and does not have the best reputation for credibility. I wouldn't be upset if something isn't in Wikipedia. It's like being disappointed that a tabloid misspells someone's name.

True, When I was working on some research papers for college, I was told not to use Wikipedia for my sources. Wikipedia is a nice "go to point", but still...
