Will there be more ghosts available from Ghostbusters? And can we expect stand-alone spectres such as Vigo or the taxi cab driver zombie? Or will the ghosts be limited to pack-ins?

We will eventually get to Ghosts as figures themselves, yes.

When will we see a Peter Venkman figure (either 6" or 12")?

As announced at SDCC, the first Peter figure will be out in late Spring 2010.

Will the Proton Packs ever be made detachable from the 6" figures?

This would be a great way to refresh the figures for a future re-release! But nothing to announce just yet.

Is all future packaging going to be non-resealable? (The SDCC Egon was resealable).

No, we will not be offering resealable packaging on any lines going forward. That was special for the SDCC items.

Do you guys have Peter MacNicol's likeness? I'm sure a good many of us would love a Janoz figure!

Yes, we do have rights to make a Janoz figure – maybe even covered in goo.

----------------------------

We need your questions for Mattel! Please post your questions in this thread and we will have a new set of answers around the New Year.

They commented about Ecto-1 on another site.

So maybe when Ghostbusters 3 comes out we'll get Ecto-1 and maybe a new firehouse.

That sounded more positive.

Well, these were much better answers than the last set, although I thought the question about the Venkman figure was sort of a wasted question... Didn't we already know it would be late Spring/ early Summer?

Anyways, I have a new question:

With Mattel having the rights to so many characters, will we begin to see a shorter timeframe between releases if the 4 busters sell well?

If Mattel truly intends to get to many of the ghosts, supporting characters, & variations of the guys we could be waiting for years for these, and that would just cover the first two films!

Or maybe that's all part of the plan...to last for about 3 years (when Ghostbusters 3 comes out)

I doubt we'll see those for the 6'' line...they're gonna cheap out on us and go 3 3/4''

slightly more positive answers than last time, yet still kind of vague...

Only real worthwhile answers this time around was they do have the GB2 license, since they have Janoz's likeness rights, and they plan on doing full ghost releases down the road.

The venkman question was totally wasted, since they already released a timetable for him, and the packaging and removable proto pack questions were far less imortant IMHO then some of the other questions proposed.

Least they are answering promptly though.

Can polls be setup here? Maybe a question list can be posted in a poll, the website members could vote on them for importance, and then the questions could be proposed in that order?

The heman community has been doing that for a while now, since the first few rounds, they also had redundant questions, or non specific questions asked that yielded no actual answers, just that promotional vague jargon. Evidently the person answering doesn't have full disclosure rights, or Matty doesn;t want specific info released until they want it released.

I also really like the idea of setting up a polling thread for future questions!

It seems like the best way to get the most effective answers so we don't get a bunch of yes / no answers.

Even though I'm sure Mattel will still only answer what they're willing to divulge at the time...

Nice to have some of these answers.

As already pointed out.....I thought the Venkman question was answered long ago?

I actually need questions first.

I go through a list of suggestions and pick them. There won't be any questions/answers for Dec 15, because I just didn't have any good questions left.

I would still like to know about any plans for Janine and once they do a female form maybe Dana/Zuul and Gozer as well.

I think the lack of decent questions stems from the fact that we can't get any real answers from them. It doesn't really seem to matter what you ask. Even beyond the 'yes/no' perspective, for example, the Venkman question was dodged with the skill of a seasoned politician. There have been no real answers from the most direct questions to date, so really, there just seems to be no point in asking anything. Now if they stopped playing coy with us and actually gave us something with some substance we could sink our teeth into, then I could get excited. But really, It's pointless round about nothingness.

That just got my fifteen bucks... of all the obscure characters people keep mentioning, I'd dig a Janoz figure.

These related questions were also answered in this round:

Super Hero Times

4) Based on the recent sales of the Ghostbusters merchandise, is it safe to say that an in-scale Ecto 1 may be a possibility in 2010?

Not for the 6" line at this time. That might need to wait for a movie year.

Key words: Movie Year! ;)

And from Poe Ghostal's site:

4.) Mysterious Stranger asks: Regarding Ghostbusters, can you give fans who are collecting this line some reassurances that all 4 Ghostbusters WILL be made available, in standard (i.e., non-slimed) uniforms? With Venkman being the most popular yet the last of the four to come out, after Walter Peck, some collectors are concerned the line might be canceled prior to all of the announced releases coming out.

The line is doing great and all of the major and minor characters announced will be coming out. Look for Venkman in the second half of 2010. See our SDCC fan panel presentation (on Facebook) for all the details

From Kastor's Korner:

Kastor: Once the Dark Knight 6 inch movie masters are released, will this scale continue for other DUC movie or TV properties?

Matty: Yes. Movie and TV figures will be in scale to the Dark Knight and Ghostbuster Movie Masters.

From It's All True"

4. Noisy asks: Can you talk a little bit about Movie Masters figures and their status? I think I speak for all the Movie Masters fans when I say we feel like the odd collectors out with the delays and lack of information?

We had to skip the November figure due to some shipping issues, but we will pick back up in December with Survival Suit Bruce Wayne and continue offering one figure per month on Mattycollector.com. We’ve also been able to increase production to lower the price to 15.00 per figure going forward.

(Maybe we'll see a movie masters line as well, at a lower pricepoint?)

Matty is just now getting into interlocking bases for some figures. Cost is what they kept talking about at the Comic Con panel. A firehouse would be outrageous and they said an Ecto, though a possibility, would also be quite expensive. Especially because of the detail and desire for lights and sounds we'd all have. For at least the next year we can only expect figures. Matty made it clear they'd love to do as much as possible, but cost and how these things sell is going to be the biggest factors. The shipping packaging can't even be improved because of cost right now.

Maybe we need a thread that only a mod can change with all the actual answers and known info in one place? That way we won't be redundant on known info.

My question would be "is there anyone in particular from the movies that you haven't been able to get the license for?".

This interview by Poe Ghostal was just posted a hour or so ago.

Here's the GB related snippet:

GHOSTBUSTERS

PG: You guys have often spoken of your fondness for the original MOTU and Super Powers, in addition other ’80s lines. Do you feel the same nostalgic connection to Ghostbusters? Were (or are) you fans of the cartoon and the Kenner toys?

Chris Dahlberg: We are absolutely fans of the Ghostbusters movies! The first movie came out during Eric’s, Cornboy’s, and my high school years, and it still stands the test of time today as being one of the funniest, coolest movies ever.

Eric Treadaway: Even though we liked the “Real” Ghostbusters figures quite a bit when they were released, we definitely didn’t have quite the same love for them as we did for Masters of the Universe or Superpowers. I think I still have some of them stashed away in my basement somewhere.

Cornboy: That being said, and at the risk of being strung up by Real Ghostbusters fans everywhere, I think that the second incarnation of the Ghostbusters cartoon, Extreme Ghostbusters (unfortunate title – everything had to be “extreme” back then) from the late ’90s is still one of the best cartoons ever!

PG: A movie-accurate Slimer has posed difficulties to sculptors in recent years, due to the scarcity of reference photos and turnarounds and his different appearance in the second movie. How did you approach sculpting him?

Eric: We’re actually very fortunate that we have a partner such as Mattel in these instances. Mattel’s such a powerful and respected entity that the guys over there usually seem to be able to get more reference directly from their licensors than most companies are capable of doing. Luckily, through the combination of the reference that Mattel was able to supply to us and the reference that we were able to dig up ourselves, Chris was able to create what we consider is a pretty darned accurate Slimer based on his appearance in the first movie.

Chris: In this case, the Ghostbusters DVD was also an extremely helpful reference tool. The creation of the DVD player is one of the greatest things to ever happen to a sculptor who’s trying to create movie accurate figures and accessories. A definite step up from the jittery, jumping, fuzzy images we use to have to decipher from an overplayed, overused VCR and VHS tape!

I wanna know if Mattel plans to release cans of Ecto-Plazm in the 4 colors Kenner did and more colors too. Complete with Ecto-Ghosts would be great too!

Love the answer regarding the Janoz figure being covered ins goo...

They do need to make the GBII figures with the slime blowers for Ray and Winston tho and dark uniforms.

Giga Counters were sorta covered in the accessory set, they won't be released separately... it doesn't mean one won't appear with any Ghostbusters II figures, but given how stark the first wave have been so far, don't count on it.

All I can say is that I would prefer to get some ghosts and characters like Janine, Louis and Dana from the first movie before anything from the second movie ever comes to light.
